Give it a shot - it's just for fun.  Try to make it someone projecting in the vicinity of the draft slot in round 2. I'll start with a slight reach (and I'm thinking we might even draft a RB in the next round).  Here's my selection for the Browns at Pick #54 in Round 2 (and if he head butts Rodger Goodell - I'll give him a $200 bonus):

LT Kiran Amegadjie - Yale, 6-5 321lbs 37 inch arms  - 2 time All Ivy League 1st Team Selection.  Strong, fast, fierce and agile.  Led his team to 2 Ivy League Championships.  In 2015, the Bucs drafted Division 3 OG Ali Marpet out of Hobart in the 61st slot overall and he eventually made the Pro Bowl.  1 Mock Draft in Athlon Sports Draft Mag has the KC Chiefs drafting Amegadjie at #63 overall to protect the blindside of Mahomes.  Right now LT is a glaring weakness on the blindside of QB the Browns have invested a lot of money in.  LTs go fast in the draft so it might be very well worth the reach.

A new starting LT is No1 on my wishlist, so I am on board with your pick. I suppose @TexasAg1969 is right about our situation being more BPA, go with the flow, yada yada, boring. I want my LT dammit!

But I understand the move, the Front Office doesn't want the stadium chanting Flacco, the first time DW throws a pick.

This is a solid explanation in combination with the locker room stuff, for a move I instantly disliked. Would have preferred a Brisset QB sneak type, to reduce injury risk to Watson.

Will give JW a chance, although I genuinely hope he barely sees the field.

If I were the front office, I would be looking hard for someone to bring in at LT to push Wills and RT so they can have good depth for whoever starts. And keep Nick Harris, the more versatile, the better.

An upgrade at LT would make the off season for me, but that is notoriously difficult to achieve. Not available via FA. Denver might be rearing it down, but there is no way we can afford Bolles. Any more 'tear down' teams with LTs we can afford?

Regardless, quite happy with big Z and bog Mo back.

There's a reason it's called a 'language', my guy.  Because that's what it is.  You learn either by studying or immersion.

No argument there. Though, even in the same language, the same name may have different meanings. Mike and Sam for example, sounds like that nice gay couple from down the road. Is it Mike who bakes?

  5. The folks who would have made this topic about Faker Mehfield haven't even posted, and you guys are still talking about him. Sadge.

What are we thinking about Jeudy? Showed great promise in college, and had a good rookie season. Injury derailed things in 21. Came back pretty strong in 22, but started to show some personality issues. In 23, it became clear that Denver saw him as a #2 option at best.

He should be in his prime, but seems more like a project. I suppose he can duke it out with Tillman for our WR2. Make Moore, who didn't exactly wow me last year, our slot guy? WR room does seem a bit crowded. Maybe we can get some value for trading a rookie contract like Bell. Although, if a former 1st rounder like Jeudy only fetches a 5th and 6th, it won't be much.

Touche, @Korsou Dawg. You got me!

Like @Bob806 they gave him a 5 year $245 million extension, and cut him before he played a single game...

Measurably the worst contract and dead cap in NFL history! Wow, just wow!

And Kevin was up there in the stands paying close attention to the group of LBs. Good sign. I think he was reading the menu Tom. Strong group of LBs and one of them is bound to be there when we get our first pick. Just not Cooper.

I'm not usually a betting man, but would be willing to put money on the Browns not drafting an LB in the 2nd. The FO have shown that they do not value that position. JOK was the exception to that rule, and they only pulled the trigger on him because he was seen as more of a 'hybrid.'

    3rd round, maybe.

  8. The NFL cap is one of the most incomprehensible things in sports, if not life. Spotrac does a great job of calculating it however.

@Unsympathetic your calculation seems to miss the '2023 rollover cap'

Deshaun Watson appears apathetic about Cleveland and the Browns and Nick Chubb seems the opposite. Maybe I'm wrong a out Watson, I'd love to be wrong about him.

I respectfully question, if not outright dismiss your amateur phycology. Whenever I see Watson on the field, he seems one of the most psyched up players on the field. He gets excited to the point of being gitty. Look up when he got mike'd up for that snow game. And look at the way he celebrates with his teammates. You can't fake that. He looks to be very well liked. If he was only in it for himself, his teammates would be the first to sniff that out.

The problem is almost the exact opposite: Watson started well last season, but was so eager to win games, he took unnecessary risks. Rushing head first, instead of sliding. Taking hits, instead of avoiding them. That got him banged up before he started in Baltimore, and out for the season after. As great as that comeback was, he sacrificed our season to do so.

If we are going to get any value from his trade, the staff needs to tone down his excitement on the field. They need to get him to play smarter, not harder, and avoid injuries. With both him and Chubb on the field, in addition to our D, the potential for a deep play-off run is there. Emphasis on: "on the field."

And I am convinced Chubb, who is hands down my favorite Brown, would play just as hard for any other team. Maybe even harder for his home state Falcons.

  10. @Flugel would be much more worried about the Houston scenario you mentioned. They already have Stroud, a good core around him, and picks to spend. Add the 'QB's wet dream receiver' that is Harrison to that mix, and you have got yourself the makings of a dynasty, right in our AFC. Me no likey.

What do you think drives clicks for advertising?   It's the off-season.  And, despite the fact that there is plenty of actual good football material to be unpacked and shown to fans from the course of the 2023 season; we instead focus on the lazy, the inflammatory and intrusive.    Sports media is tabloid media.

Yeah I (should) know. I suppose I have trouble finding the good football stuff, especially this time of year. Then ending up with in the content sewer. Any sites you could suggest for good stuff?

Also looking to improve my knowledge of the game in general, and to be able to decipher your posts in your 'Professor Tia' topic. As we stand, I could be convinced those are written in Chinese, cleverly disguised as English. Found the below, but would welcome any other suggestions.

  12. So many reports in the media on whether or not Chubb is getting cut. How is this even a narrative? There would be riots all the way from downtown Cleveland to Berea.

Sure, the cap is a bit tight, but cap-magic is Berry's specialty. There simply is no good reason.

Seeing what these Browns can do WITH Chubb on the field, is what I am looking forward to most! Wild guess says that goes for many more!
