    Here's my prediction:

He gets suspended for the entire season, the union gets it knocked down to 8 games.

Which is what most of us expected when they signed him the day after St. Pats Day.

To reiterate mine: he gets a slap on the wrist. 2-4 games MAX. Anything close to the season, and he sues the NFL for all they got.

Criminal cases thrown out. 20 civil cases already settled, the details of which go under wraps. The NFL has got no evidence other than DW's own testimony to suspend him on, so they've got nothing. The media's thirst for blood will be their undoing, and your public relations nightmares are your own.

Looks like Browns fans will get to see a loaded roster perform with a top 5 QB in his prime under center. Go (to the Superbowl) Browns!

Ezekiel Elliot and Ben Roethlisberger were both suspended under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, without ever being charged with a crime. So this isn’t exactly setting a precedent, just Goodell playing Judge, Jury, and Executioner.

This is more or less my point though. There weren't ongoing legal proceedings in those examples, but there are in this case. Dishing out a lengthy suspension while the cases are being tried can be seen as influencing the outcome thereof, opening the door to a liability suit. As much as Goodell may want to do as you say, I think the league will be cautious in this case.

I hope that you enjoy it.  Oh a little background information on our family and cooking,  my grandmother was the best cook I've ever known and worked as a cook on and off her whole life.  My mother used to cook for her 5 boys, dad, her, my grandfather,  8 of us "army style "  big meals on a budget.

My wife Nancy I can honestly say is now besides cooking with her mother is now a "scratch" cook.  I'm a good cook she's much better.   We both enjoy watching cooking shows   -but-  she watches even more than I do.

And Helen, her mother a full blooded Ukrainian,  she just passed away in 2019 at 95 and would have lived to be 100+ if she didn't slip and fall and broke her hip.  An amazing lady and cook, she used to make I'm not kidding full blown Christmas and Easter meals for us until she was 93 +/-.  Ham, kielbasa,  Helen's incredible breaded baked chicken (ummm-mmm), scalloped potatoes,  mashed potatoes, * her deviled eggs, * homemade Paska bread, vegetables,  dessert and then some.....all by herself.   OMG.

Well my wife now a retired nurse just told me that her mother used to make Helen's Spaghetti Sauce when she was a kid, that simple but good recipe may have come from her grandmother or earlier.

SO food is meant to be enjoyed and shared,  that's why I started this favorite GAMEDAY foods forum on another board about 17+ years ago and continued it here.  I also have a private friends and family recipe email that we enjoy.

And Bon Appétit.....  exclamation used as a salutation to a person about to eat.  Or  good appetite : enjoy your meal.

Slavic cuisine often does not get the appreciation it deserves. My friends from Poland and travelling there opened my eyes. Bigos stew has become a favorite of mine.

The sure is... Yes! You can place a Vegas wager on Watson's game suspension ..

    How Long Will DeshaunWatso?

    Over 4.5 Games-140
    Under 4.5 Games+100

Now the question becomes, how many games will Deshaun Watson be suspended? Watson isn’t facing any criminal charges, but there are 23 civil suits. The NFL has the power to suspend him.

The over/under sits at 4.5 games. He’ll likely face discipline from the league, but what will Deshaun Watson’s suspension look like?

The top NFL betting sites have the over as the favorite, and I’d say that’s the correct pick. Watson avoided criminal charges, but he still faces civil suits

I still say that a suspension that long at this point in time would lead to him and his team suing the NFL for everything they got. He has been convicted of nothing, which basically means he did nothing wrong at this point in time.

Both a short 'get it over with' suspension, or a postponement till after the conclusion of legal proceedings seem more likely to me.

OK this is my wife's mother's old HELEN'S HOMEMADE BARBECUE SAUCE  we've always liked it. Remember  its a good idea to double the quantities to make a little more.

NOTE:  one typed page is just the ingredients page the second hand written page are my wife's instructions.  Oh and you get a bonus HELEN'S SPAGHETTI SAUCE.    :)

So here it is, and any questions or comments just let me know.

    Bon Appétit  !

Sir, this comes awfully close to reading a handwritten first edition of the good book. Must try this next time we light up the kamado!

    D. Trying to repair some of the damage he has created.

    E. Maybe he feels bad that he got this monster contract   -and-   has caused the city of  Cleveland and the  BROWNS to become the NFL laughingstock in the league.

    I'm sure there are more.

    GO BROWNS  !

Laughingstock? You do not honestly believe that. We added a top 5 QB in his prime to a squad that was already stacked on both sides of the football. With Watson on the field, every team in the league will be concerned about facing us.

Main questions now are: how many games will we have to go without him, and will the coaching staff be able to get the most out of all this talent? The latter of which is probably my biggest concern.

    Go Browns indeed!

And welcome. Been to Curacao once for the Total Eclipse back in the 90s.  took quite a liking to the Senior Curacao while I was down there. The authentic beverage has been hard to find of late up here in the States.  Of course i get called a juicer here on the Board because I happen to like stuff like that.

One of our Tailgate traditions has been to do a shot of Orange Curacao before heading to the stadium for a game. Zombo affectionately calls it "The Orange Shit".  :)

Nice to see one of very few Curaçao exports make it all the way to Ohio! :) They seem to have a US distributor, but they are all they way in Cali

I am quite particular about my alcoholic beverages: pilsner beer, strong red wine and a few classic cocktails like whiskey sour. May have to make an exception for some orange shit if I ever make it to a tailgate #lifegoals

That was my immediate reaction also.  But I slowly remembered how much commissioner GoToHell enjoys suspending people.

Steve, are you not aware the NFL said they are doing their own investigation of Watson/s actions up against the NFL Code of Conduct (regardless of courtroom outcomes)?  Once complete, we will learn if there is a suspension and how long it will be.

According to this article, there are three possibilities

    1. The league could make its decision when its investigation is concluded
    2. Wait until there’s resolution in the lawsuits
    3. Levy a punishment with the caveat it could add further discipline if new information surfaces.

As much as I believe they would love to suspend, option 1 is a big can of worms liability wise. The criminal charges were thrown out by two separate grand juries, and those charges can never be brought again. That means DW is not just innocent, his innocence is bulletproof (it astonishes me that the US legal system then allows him to be sued for the very same charges in a different branch of the legal system. Seems like extortion to me, but I suppose that is a discussion for a different forum).

The point is: if they suspend him now, they are effectively suspending an innocent man, and risk influencing the ongoing legal proceedings. If Kaepernick had enough on the league to reach a settlement for preventing him to work, DW has a Howitzer pointed at them as it stands. The only way I see this happening is the suspension is so low (4 games or so) and the Leagues forgoes option 3, which would juicy enough for DW's representation and the Browns to accept it. Seems more likely the league waits to see the outcome of the lawsuits, and either dish out a lengthy suspension or none at all, depending on said outcome.

The Browns chose this path knowing the issues. This kind of negative attention is fully deserved for all of the parties involved in this mess.

Browns Get Bad News on Deshaun Watson's Legal Issues (msn.com)

By far the most noteworthy about this article is finding out MSN still exists. I can vaguely remember using it when I was young, decades ago.

Only mildly interesting is the absurd framing: "Bad News" and " a serious body blow." Factually, the delay of these preposterous civil suits well into 2023 will likely result in DW being able to play the entire '22-23 season. But somehow this is """"bAd"""" for the Browns. Give me a break!

(Hi to all who are here to discuss Football. Go Browns!)
