  1. Our garbage active QBs getting our invaluable receivers hurt. This game has wrecked our season!
  2. People still making up excuses for DTR. He has produced absolutely nothing this game! I don't say this lightly, but Baker would have put us in front by now!
  3. I'm not disagreeing, but DTR has had two statistically terrible games, and he has actually manged to regress in his third outing. They better be getting Flacco ready, or the season is over!
  4. Flacco better be starting next week. DTR is actually looking worse than his first two outings!
  5. Our league leading D is playing nowhere near. If they don't step up, this is going to be a rout!
  6. Not there yet, as I have been saying. We are fielding a 5th round starter versus a Pro Bowl-Super Bowl QB. If our defense doesn't make the difference, it is hopeless!
  7. I better damn well hope Flacco is throwing balls to practice squad receivers as we speak. This offense is going nowhere!
  8. Beer flowing freely. Got a feeling I'm going to enjoy this game. Whether I'll have something meaningful to say remains to be seen!
  9. Being without both Ward and Walker hurts us. That said, Newsome can cover for Ward, and having Thornhill back is huge! Go Browns!
  10. I guess Newsome will get his which to play more outside, and Mike Ford takes his reps in the slot?
  11. Re-posting this from the Flacco thread with h/t to @TexasAg1969 Wow! Just wow. 100% pass protection success against TJ Watt. No pressures, hurries, nada, bupkis! We were impressed by his size from day one, but look at his footwork, the awareness, and his refined use of hands. It is all there! What a pick! If we re-draft today based on current play, I say Dawand goes first round. Possibly top 10. This kid is worth his considerable weight in gold!
  12. Completely agree that the playbook will have to be customized for Flacco, who is a lot less mobile than Watson or DTR. Probably also explains why he hasn't been activated yet, because that will take time. Fully expect him to become the starter at some point in the season though, for reasons mentioned in my previous comments.
  13. I am just hearing a lot of 'hopium' about DTR. Like I pointed out, his current stats are a lot worse than Flacco's from last season. If we are going to speculate, I don't see DTR's stats making up jump to Flacco's level soon. He has shown lack control over his canon arm strength, threw passes high and behind, and put way too much on short passes to the flats. That takes seasons to fix, not weeks. And in the first shot of him after the Pittsburgh game, he was clearly hyperventilating. Understandable given his inexperience, but also something that needs time. Time we don't have if we want to reach the play-offs. In contrast, I do see potential for Flacco's stats improving, because we have a better O-line than the Jets (with the caveat that Dawand get and stays healthy, like @Flugel mentioned). To me, the only questions are rust and playbook. If Flacco shakes off any rust, and gets familiar with our playbook (possibly tailored slightly more to him), choosing of Flacco over DTR to win us games this year seems self-evident.
  14. Please don't mistake my complete lack of belief in DTR as starter at this point in time, for over-enthusiasm for Flacco. If 57% is paltry and 5.5 YPA is miniscule, what do you call the 42.4 and 3.7 DTR has mustered, along with 2 Interceptions per game? You might be better off not fielding a QB and just rushing each down. Heck, against Denver's D, that might actually be viable! To be honest, I am secretly still hoping that Berry will literally be begging Brady each week, sending him messages like:
  15. Him having plenty of arm is not in question. I remember a pre-season metric that showed his passes travelled at the fastest speed of all QBs. In order to successfully throw deep, you need power + accuracy though. While DTR might develop that at some point, he has showed nothing of the sorts at this point. Conversely, on his short throws against the Stoolers in the 2nd half, he put way too much on the ball, which resulted in drops. He needs to learn how to control his arm, and the pace he puts on the ball. That will take time. I am no where near calling DTR a "lost cause" for the future, but when it comes to this season? That's an affermative! 2) Couldn't disagree more. The YouTube clip @Neo posted is only from one year ago like he said, and Joe accurately carved up our secondary like a friggin Thanksgiving turkey!
  16. With our QB situation still iffy, an opportunity to further beef-up the D? Joining the Browns at this stage sounds like a "football decision" to me!
  17. Look man, you said your major concern was the Steelers completely shutting down our run game in the 2nd. As stated, the reason is twofold: their defensive adjustments, and DTR's inability/ refusal to throw anything over the top, the latter you inexplicably disputed. Those two reasons resulted in no offense and an INT for most of that half. You can't win football games like that, and it is a miracle we did. Not only am I not surprised the Steelers stacked the box, I am convinced others will follow their lead. That will have similar results as long as DTR is under center. If Flacco shakes off any rust quickly, he is the answer. Look at those YouTube highlights. Basically, we are a serviceable QB shy of a team that can not only reach the play-offs, but win games when we do. I have a deep seeded desire to see that, but have no faith that DTR is that QB (for the foreseeable future), and some hope Flacco is!
  18. Didn't suggest to cut him, did I? I hope he learns and improves, over the years. Just making a point from the perspective of a team that is on the verge of making the play-offs, which is something not all that common for the Browns. DTR showed Sunday that he is not going to take us there. Too raw; too inexperienced; too nervous; too inaccurate. He did not produce any offense for most of the second half, but did turn the ball over. That's just a matter of fact. This has been explained by others. They were playing 9 up front for most of the second half, and even their corners were constantly trying to get in between the ball and the receiver. Only on 3rd and long did they get away from the LOS a bit. The only way to beat that is over the top. In the absence of that, other teams will kill our run game the same way. We need a QB that can throw 50 yard passes with accuracy, when needed. The only QB under contract with the Browns who can do that is Flacco. Plain and simple.
