Things are a long way from getting "Back to Normal" here in Southwest Florida, but the grocery stores are beginning to get stocked again, so I sent Mitzie to Publix to do the shopping while I make my picks , since she missed the Browns pick last week. She was a good girl and remembered to wear her Gameday Orange though.

Man coverage, he was following the X receiver inside.  All that receiver had to do was box him out and let the RB make his cut off of that while everybody else was screaming into their gap to get to the rookie QB.    Just a great design.

Let's be real, there is no way to make you happy.   The Browns don't send additional bodies and the rookie makes a decent throw - you call it horrible defense.   The Browns sack up and send heat on 3rd and long, NE dials up a draw that is something of a ballsy call.... but a great counter against a team who wants to fuck up a rookie QB.   Just happened to bust it at the weakside.  And you're also not happy.

At some point, fans have to realize the other team has professional coaches nd professional athletes.   You can't shut every play down, get 20+ yards every play of your own, and win 100-0.

Live in reality and start acting like it.  Thanks.

Tia, I enjoy your understanding and passion for the Browns and for football.

I share your understanding that talent, passion, innovation and smarts are not talents given only to the Browns.

I always warn and advise, "ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things".

However, here is something for you to also consider. With the Brownsore often than not, it is the opposition's guys, and not ours doing the extraordinary things.

At some point our guys should be on top of some waves as opposed to always being on the bottom.

Guys here are frustrated because on the field we continually get outdone.

Something is not right w the Browns. Stefanski? Depo? I don't know but this team is in disarray.

I am listening on Sirius and have to tell you this broadcast is horrible.

This asshole replacement is consistently not telling where the play ended. Sometimes not sharing the gain or loss until the next down. Often not telling if a pass was completed.

"Amari really stretched on that one. You know Amari did this a lot in college......"

Yeah, did he catch the ball, and if so, where?

1st and ten, Chubb gets stuffed for no gain, and this asshole says, "that'll bring up second and 2."

Where the fuck do they get assholes like this?

While all this is true, the head coaching is subpar

Belichick will run 50 times to win, or he will throw 50 times to win, or he will set up a great defensive scheme to win

Our head coach HAS to do it only 1 way, HIS WAY. He has to try and have a 50/50 split run and pass

Each game is different. The game dictates how you can win. Our coach doesn’t seem to know that

My frustrations are yours. The only thing we really don't know is whether this is Stefanski coaching, or Depodesta moneyball bullshit.

As I think about this logic points away from Kevin. His past habits and style have not at all been represented in the Browns.

I envision Kevin and Depodesta blasting each other, only to have Berry later on over dinner assuring Haslam that he just has to be patient and let Depo's analytics come to fruition.

This is the problem I have with analytics guys; the always blame everyone else, and insist that our stupidity is going to kill the future, insisting that waste patient.

Whatever we suggest to be problematic, one thing is not debatable; this team is not progressing.

I think the Depo squad vs coaching staff is about to boil over. Lots of rumbling now leaking about coaches not getting to call shots on personnel and more.

    I would be in jail.

It just does not make sense that ShitMyPantski can be so bad.

I understand this shit. I founded a water technology startup, gave my patents to the company only to have Depo types, with absolutely no fucking experience in science put their imbecile hands all over it.

Talent wise, this will be the 6th game.in a row that the Browns have/had a good chance of winning.

Discipline and our overall game management give me the heeboe jeebies.

If it is close, I think Beliclit has an edge over whoever is pulling ShitMyPantski's strings.

I believe they kick with the inside part of the top of the foot, closer to the beginning of the big finger (idk its name).

Kicking with the top of the foot means you can accompany better the movement of the ball upwards, while kicking with the inside adds accuracy, and allows you to kick with your body sideways thus using your hips full range of motion, which is the key difference. When you kick with straight hips you are using almost exclusively your leg. Football kicking lets you use not only your hip but also the back and the rest of the body to create inertia.

I'm no expert, but I hope I could explain the phenomenon.

    Thanks

Yep, I was driving between Defeated Creek, TN to Royal, Arkansas and had the game on XM, Browns feed ( sorry, unpopular opinion but Jim Donovan isn't very good. Never tells you where the ball is, a huge no-no in radio broadcasting).

Anyway, the Browns feed disappeared for about 10 minutes, they went to the Chargers feed. The announcers were "thanking" the Browns' offensive formations. I almost had to pull off the road lol.

Damn, I hate thinking the Browns philosophy of spending big bucks on the bookend D line, and Ward, Walker was wrong, but it looks that way now. Take it back even further...seemed to be good draft picks in the secondary.

So please tell me, is it the players being unintelligent, or a coaching philosophy? Not seeing the last 2 games & listening on the radio, it seems like they're in constant prevent. Makes no sense.

I haven't watched on my NFL App, I don't think I want to. Trying to enjoy nature & the Browns presents conflicts lol.

PS- Lake Ouchita is awesome folks. Go Browns (somehow).

    Nice picture and nice post.

This tiamat guy is so busy taking notes that he has no concept of what is going on down on the field.

    I agree on Donavan

Yeah.  I don't ever see a good reason for us to have Chubb on the field and then put him in motion to line up at WR.  His presence in the backfield would have a helluvalot more effect on a defense.  Although I think Chubb can catch the ball pretty well, I don't think he runs his little pass routes very well and the QB's (including Baker) are throwing it to where he was supposed to run the route.  He tends to shade the route one way or another...whereas the QB's and Hunt don't have the same sync problems.

I have to wonder who is attending to Tiamat's wife while he is mentally masturbating and logging every play.

My point about the Browns not using play action is NOT the amount of times that they have movement in the background.

My problem is in situations where the opposing D is forced into biting on the run, we run straight into it, and then act surprised that 5 OL men could not block 9 in the box.

THAT is where the Browns cripple themselves with analytics, and don't have the balls to take advantage of a charging bull.

Going for 4th and short? Wonderful.

Not using Chubb as a play fake on 2nd and 1, and instead get stuffed? Disgusting.

2nd and 1 turns into 3d and 4, and then they bring the house so we punt.

As a Spaniard, I find this interesting, since it is a common technique here.

But don't you ask me to throw a baseball or a football, I have no freaking clue :D

When the first soccer style kickers started appearing in the NFL, most Americans thought they were sissies, weird, Homos or some combination.

I believe the first was Jan Stenarud (sp) with KC. Then the Steelers got Chris Bahr and the rest is history.

In the beginning I thought they kicked with the inside of their foot. I still really don't get it.

I also have accepted that this style leads to a longer kick.

I just hope our guy gets more accurate

Let me put this part in a different color so everyone can see these next parts.

    - Of the Browns SIX 1st half series, they opened with either a run or play action passing attempt on EVERY SINGLE SERIES.

    - Drives that had a positive expected rush rate were also met with a higher play action rate following that opening attempt.     This would signal a defense playing the numbers game and committing more to the box, opening up those attempts.

.... and now for my favorite part.

    - There have been, in all 6 1st half drives drives,  ZERO  Empty sets shown by the offense.   Not 1, not 2, not 3.  Not on early downs or even passing downs.   ZERO.

Either Chubb or Hunt has been present as the Halfback on every single offensive play in the 1st half.

Still have the 2nd half to chart.   Boy, let's hope those empty sets show up those announcers were talking about.

edit:  And I'd like to thank you in advance for the rebuttal, but I've given you enough rope to hang yourself with this 2nd go around with you being back on the board.    You'll be wasting your time responding because I don't deal in bullshit, so ignore it is.   Anyone else is welcomed to follow along as I'll post those 2nd half results just for fun another time.

True, but there's some technique to do so. Damn, you just made me take a crash refresher course in high school geometry.  @ 54 yards away those 18.5' wide goal posts substend an angle of about 6.5 degrees. It doesn't take much to miss at that distance.

FWIW, York wasn't drafted just for his accuracy in college, he also has a cannon leg. That missed field goal had 60+ yard distance. It wasn't so long ago kicks from that far out were in NFL record range.

MHO? Kickers are getting too good. Get to the 40 and you're now in field goal range. LOL, can't move the goalposts back any farther, they may have to start shrinking them down to area ball width. :)

Larry, it is indeed amazing. I still to this day do not understand how a soccer style kick is done.

York's leg is impressive, but he can't keep letting us down. As far as the geometry goes, it doesn't seem to bother the guy in Baltimore.

IMHO, we make too many excuses for why our guys never deliver. It's like Browns fans are all Democrats.

Definitely the kicking is an almost exclusive talk between kicker, punter/holder and long snapper.

I remember hearing Pat McAfee, who was a kicker in College and punter/holder in the pros, giving his opinion on wind etc to Vinatieri whenever he had to kick for the Colts.

He needs to be "coached" as to how to kick a fucking field goal? Ah yes, I can hear that conversation now. "Ah, try.to kick the ball between those yellow thingys."

    1)  The coach knows that you have to be able to pass to keep a D honest.  You can't just line up and run because teams will load up and stop you.  (unless you're playing us, then you don't have to pass)

One of the things that maidens me about this O, is that IMO we do not capitalize on play action in likely run downs.

I was resigned to listening to the game w on Sirius and tuned in to the Chargers version. Their announcers kept exclaiming that they could not believe the Browns would run an empty backfield on 1st down and eliminate the need for the Charger D to account for the run.

so, we went to the Canfield Fair - it is a giant of a fair. 353 acres, hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

It takes a good while to ride the tractor-driven wagons all around the fair.

Great time. Talked with some veterans in a veteran's row several booths.

Downside - went to a booth for a large lemonade. They were 7$ for a large. It was little ice, seemed like little sugar, and was warm. Iced it and put sugar in it when we got home, it was good.

I was surprised to talk with a vendor about watson. She sold flags, had flags for every pro team, etc etc. I saw a steeler flag and joked that I was offended, I hated the steelers. She laughed and said she hears that all the time. Said I must be a browns fan- I said "yes, but I'm sick of that trade they did, can't stand it. Now I hate their front office and ownership"....

She said as a woman, it is sickening, that trade, and said as a former massotherapist when she was in college - she NEVER had anything like that happen. If it had, she would have been angry and really it would have been a bad scene, she would have been telling him off.....or worse.

She said browns fans deserve so much better than what the browns owners and fo did. Said he should not be allowed to play and have anyone cheering for him, if it ever does happen.

Didn't expect that - but she was right.

Yet not one of the women in question had the character of this Canfield Fair woman? Not one stood up to Watson. No cop was called. No manager was notified. Not one of the establishments banned him from coming back?

You don't think that is fishy? I honestly think it stinks to high heaven.

Sorry, I think these women are gold diggers. Until money entered the picture there were fine.

He may be a perv, but these women are no angels, and certainly not victims. I am sick and tired of hearing about how strong women are, and then having to listen to them whine about how traumatized they are. Fuck em. Play ball.

This is a big game for us New Englanders.  Our 'friends', family and coworkers will be watching the Browns on their TV sets.

Two weeks ago the Browns were the #7 run D in the league.  They tumbled 21 spots.  At this moment as I type, there's a rumor that Woods is fired.  Obviously, it wouldn't be a surprise.  The only surprise would be if they kept the run D coach.

Anyhow knows that we've gotta run the ball.  And I'm sure he figures that his pass D will be fine against our offense so he'll be trying to take our run away.  And on offense, he knows that we struggle stopping the run game...so....we know what Bill's gonna do.  'Cos we KNOW him.  He's gonna run it down our throats until we prove that we can stop him.  Just like Atlanta did in the 2nd half...except he's going to do it right from the get-go.   - I think we should put Kareem Hunt in at LB'er and tell him to Muckle The Guy With The Ball!!

So, this time, let's actually talk about these numbers.

    1) We know we can run the ball. Does the browns staff realize this yet?

    2) Do you think our shitty run D is a caveat emptor? In other words are we a lot better talent wise, and can we jump up in this category with some adjustments? Or does the run D actually stink, talent wise?

    3) I am surprised we are not lower in pass D. Maybe that's because everyone is running all over us.

    4) Sacks? They are better than us? Spare the missed Garret and Clowney games, how tf are they a better sacking team?

Overall, to me, it feels like the Browns are a better team. Maybe not by much, which leads me to the coaching comment. I don't think it will take a perfect game to win this, but it is going to take more than the team has been giving. Belichik versus our dickheads? I think as it stands NE gets that edge.

    3-3 sounds good to me.

Well, it took about 2 weeks before you reverted to the Old Ghoolie.  Fight Garrett?  :D :D :D It would probably take Myles around 30 seconds to grab you by one of your arms and either break it, or pull it out of it's socket.

Not at all Larry. I am a Browns fan. I am tired of these candy asses shitting all over this team, this history. The guy is a #1 and he got completely manhandled and outsmarted by a third string nobody LT? And you want to defend this guy?

You know, I heard Kosar say a couple years ago that he wished he was still the Browns QB, and on a tongue in cheek question, when asked if he would go back in, he said yes. Now, the guy's body is a wreck and he would get killed. However, I have no doubt that he wouldn't blink an eye about suiting up. Dude, I got whacked by the acorn, I would gladly take a few shots from this asshole Mild Garret to let him know what a piece of garbage he is. THAT is the point Larry. Rage.

This team is despicable. Garrett should be ashamed of himself.
