  1. With the same players as last yr, leading the league [or close to it] in penalties is all on Freddie.
  2. And for once, Freddie gives Baker a checkdown option on every play..
  3. Don't bring Harbaugh the Lesser into this.. I hope Michigan makes him coach for life.
  4. This season: Robinson 67.8, Hubbard 52.2. I'd say due to our injury issues already on OL, keep them both for the rest of this season. Conveniently both of their contracts are up, so I'd also bet neither of them will be back in 2020. Andrew Thomas UGA would look good in brown, if for no other reason than to continue the Thomas tradition. Other first-rounders could be Trey Adams, Walter Little, Tristan Wirfs, Sam Cosmi, Mekhi Becton, and Trey Smith.
  5. A 5th rounder is at best a future Genard Avery.. another guy who has lost PT to some combination of Chad Thomas and UDFA Adarius Taylor. Arguably Higgins, also a 5th-rounder, is in a better position but he was cut before he stuck.
  6. Baker this season is taking a lot longer to throw the ball.. this makes sense because the routes are longer-developing, and with a worse OL, he has to scramble around to avoid the rush. Chubb is a genius at getting yards behind this average-to-dumpster-fire of an OL, and if we don't shore up the OL this offseason we're going to send our best QB in many years into retirement due to injury just like Luck. Moral of the story: OL is the engine. Also, mix up the calls.. can't throw a 30-yard hook every play. If the team treats next week as their playoff, next week will be close. Will that actually happen?
  7. Good point - can use this page to compare all units back to 1996. 2014 hawks were 4th in run blocking and 24th in passpro. Patriots, ravens, saints, steelers, falcons, arguably broncos and bears lines were better that season.
  8. The only yappy fufu dog on this forum is TA&M's new mascot. Don't blame other people for your team sucking it up yesterday!
  9. It's not shocking you won the title the year your starting OL was the best and most expensive in the league..
  10. So are you trying to talk about concussions, smoking, opioids, or career paths? Or have you forgotten which red herring you're most interested in?
  11. Or, you could watch the video and respond to his actual comment. The video didn't discuss smoking in the 60's. If you want to discuss smoking in the 60's, the politics board needs more red herrings! The only words I take with a grain of salt come from people like you who reflexively distrust anyone who takes it upon themselves to know things. If you don't like his commentary, you can either get published in JAMA your own results showing a different conclusion to the same situation -- or shut up.
  12. I'm glad we got rid of that fatass Zeitler in the offseason. What did he ever do anyway?
  13. If you played "Guess the highest paid browns OL," unless you clicked on the OTC link above you wouldn't get the right answer - Hubbard. Hubbard is the 10th-highest paid player on the team [ #11-13 are Tretter, Bito, Robinson] but has never performed at a level equal to his pay. Salary next year is the same as this year with no guarantee so he may return unless they can swing Trent Williams.
  14. Other than Bito they're 0-fer.. Count the Schwartz as a success, maybe, but only if you don't like that numerator.. The problem with believing "We'll just internally develop" is that.. Browns have never been able to do that since the buses left to Baltimore. Those coaches don't just grow on trees.
  15. Browns Salary Reference We have issues at every spot except RG and C. I think we all agree we now have weapons on O. Because we don't want Baker to retire early like Luck, it's really time for more resources to go towards the OL. Luckily, 2020 free agency is going to be pretty ridiculous. However, we need to balance salary with FA skill.. can't sign another Hubbard. 2019 Salaries: Hubbard: 6.1 / Robinson: 5.5 / Justin McCray 0.65. But there is hope! Hubbard can be cut after the season for zero dead money, and Robinson/McCray are on one-year deals. We may still have Hubbard around next season at a crazy salary just because nobody else is willing to sign.. but if we re-sign Robinson you could do a lot worse at the swing tackle spot. Here's hoping our big FA signing in this upcoming offseason is one of the big OL, and OL is our first-round pick the next 2 seasons as well.
  16. Mack Wilson was on track to replace Kirksey in the starting lineup this season.. game 3 probably wasn't the plan, but Kirksey definitely was at best just keeping the seat warm.
  17. This is a job, and Baker has been playing this sport for many years. Did he just say these words because he thought that's what fans wanted to hear.. or did he actually do something different? I would like to hear more about specifically what was different before having any more reaction.
  18. Half of Mayfield's passes were fading backwards rolling right jumpballs off his back foot.. you know, inside the pocket.
  19. I disagree with this move because we need to be able to sign OL in FA next season and/or in the draft. I think OL should be added to the list of skill positions. We just saw what happened to Andrew Luck without an OL, and we can't let that happen to Baker. OL is the lifeblood of any team.
  20. Asking about Greedy's ability to "Make Plays in Run Support" is not unlike asking about Miles Garrett's ability to drop into coverage on the other side of a zone blitz. Yes, he's a freak athlete and can physically do anything you ask... but that's not what you're paying him for.
  21. Fitzpatrick is actually a good player, and will really help their D.. if Steelers had a QB they would now be at least the favorite to fight the Pats for the AFC ticket to the SB. Given that he's still on his rookie deal I'm not sure next year's rd1 would actually be as good as he already is proven to be.. so it's hunting value from Pitt's side.
  22. Tomlin is known for his poor game management.. attacking his choices is shooting fish in a barrel. My main thought is: Buyer's remorse on Vernon.. I want Zeitler back.
  23. On Friday they fined him $215,073.53 for conduct detrimental to the team. When a player is fined for conduct detrimental to the team, all guaranteed monies from their current contract are removed.. thus from that moment forward they are playing on a week-to-week contract.
