I like the diversity myself and have never put anyone on ignore. If we only have one point of view we would just have posters preaching to the choir in every post. My posts would be considered hard to the right but I also like the other middle of the road posters and reading about the hard left point of view (I don't have to agree with it).

The war on drugs: it simply doesn't work. New tactics besides abstinence are called for.

 

Gay marriage: let the homos get married. How it effects you is beyond me. Two homos having a wedding ceremony doesn't cheapen your own marriage.

 

Anti birth control: if we want abortion to go away we had better step off the birth control and sex education don't you think? Again new tactics besides abstinence are called for.

 

Religion favoring: all religion is crap and should be treated as such. the thought of living in a Christian theocracy is nearly as nauseating as an Islamic one

I stated that if you could not find pot that spice would take its place in a pinch. Not which one is more addicting.

 

I suppose we dont really know the effects of long term marijauna use on a grand scale until now. It bears watching Colorado and the other states that have legalized marijuana.

 

Fair point, but let me counter: if substances such as alcohol, tobacco, prescription opiates, k2/spice/synthetic cannaboids - all of which have been studied in depth and have been demonstrated to be more addictive and have higher harm potentials than cannabis - are both legal and readily available, then what is the argument for keeping a relatively safer and less addicting substance such as cannabis illegal?

With the exception of K2, all the substances you listed are only harmful when abused. And they are abused.

 

The same will happen with pot if it becomes legal. There is the gateway thing as well. Alcohol led me to pot. Prescription opiates lead to heroin. So why wouldnt pot lead to a different more powerful high?

People I have on ignore - Walter white, ghoolie, and cal. It's nothing to do with 'diversity' of opinions, there are plenty of people here that represent similar positions and they're not on ignore. It's the constant spamming of Google Search results, of derailing threads by clogging them up with half a dozen posts of nothing every morning, the constant insulting everybody and claiming self defence, the inability to engage in civil discussions and accept when someone else makes a valid counter point.

 

I don't have you on ignore, or Steve, or die hard, or ed, or anyone else representing a range of conservative views - and ignoring cal allows me to actually engage in a conversation with you guys.

You could say I am biased because as a conservative I tend to agree with Cal but I think someone like Cal on this board makes it more entertaining and really that is what this is all about for me except I try to be a good representative of my faith. For all the back and forth between Cal and Woody or you or Cleve and recently Osiris I honestly believe if any of you were neighbors with Cal it would be more of a hoot with you guys actually being good neighbors with some 'lively' debates . I rarely catch any real mean spiritness in Cal's post more of a playful nature and you have to admit many times he gets (from you guys) as good as he gives. I would hope all of you take Cal off ignore and just have fun with it.
