OldBrownsFan Posted June 20, 2019 Report Share Posted June 20, 2019 Trump just tweeted that Iran has just made a big mistake, no doubt referring Iran shooting down an American drone in international air space U.S. Central Command said in a statement that a U.S. Navy Broad Area Maritime Surveillance ISR aircraft, known as a BAMS-D, was shot down at approximately 7:35 p.m. ET on Wednesday. “Iranian reports that the aircraft was over Iran are false,” Capt. Bill Urban, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, said in a statement. “This was an unprovoked attack on a U.S. surveillance asset in international airspace.” The U.S. Navy’s RQ-4A Global Hawk drone was over international airspace and about 17 miles from Iran at the time, a military source told Fox News. The drone provides real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions “over vast ocean and coastal regions,” according to the military. Iran also tried to shoot down another drone, but missed, U.S. officials told Fox News. Officials are now scrambling to find the wreckage in the water before Iranian forces recover it. The Navy RQ-4A Global Hawk drone deployed to the Middle East in the past few days as part of reinforcements approved by President Trump last month. The high-altitude drone can fly up to 60,000 feet or 11 miles in altitude and loiter for 30 hours at a time. It’s used to spy on Iranian military communications and track shipping in the busy waterways. Each drone costs up to $180 million dollars. It sounds like Trump isn’t going to do like Obama and just ‘ask’ for the drone back. What people were saying we should have done back in the Obama years was destroy the captured drone via an airstrike. That is a very quick way to have to go to war. Firing in international airspace - something serious has to be done, or their supported groups will start hugely emboldened if they think we are afraid to retaliate. THANK GOD we have a REAL AMERICAN PRESIDENT to defend our assets over there. Enough of this crap with Iran launching missiles and laying mines. Take out every missile site they ever fire from, and any ship that ever fires a missile or lays a mine. Iran has been building up it's pitiful navy and missile capacity to take over control of the middle east. They don't stop - it's time to stop them. Hopefully, war can be avoided. But as soon as they start to proceed to enrich uranium to dangerous levels, which they would certainly do any freakin way when they were ready... Israel won't let it happen, and neither will we. What is sad, is that we and Israel and a few other allies may have to go to war, because Iran will count on the left to try to destroy Pres Trump if we do, so they are counting on being able to slap America down, thinking the left will keep us from stopping them from doing anything they want. This latest downing of our drone in international airspace is just another test, and... they know they can't make moves without taking out the drone(s).
