I don't buy this chicks story.

You've been raped by a high profile Super Bowl winning QB of highly rated celebrity, and you don't press charges or go straight to the police because you're......wait for it ...... afraid of losing your $40K a year job as a f'ing Hostess at Harrahs? Huh?

Let me tell you something, the timing of this case is beautiful. Right before the start of training camp, after countless attempts to get money out of a professional athlete.

I am supposed to believe some TV repair chick/hostess over a guy who convinced the Steelers to take him as their #1, and who subsequently prepared long and hard enough to win 2 SB's?

I am not saying we shouldn't find out the facts, but so far the facts I have seen from the plantiff are goofy and wacky, and completely unbelievable.

Judging by the way the men on this board are responding to her story, what makes you think her boss would have been receptive to her claims? I agree with the person who remarked that it's not okay to rape crazy chicks either. The girl making the claims may well turn out to be nothing more than a gold digger but so far the evidence is flimsy on both sides. What is it about being a "TV repair chick/hostess" that makes her less believable than a professional athlete? Does a lower paying job suddenly equal poor character? Since when does being a highly paid professional athlete equate with intelligence and high morals? [see VICK and dare I say, driving-my-motorcyle-into-a-car-without-a-helmet Roethlisberger] The woman claims "Hyder told her that "most girls would feel lucky to get to have sex with someone like Ben Roethlisberger." Really? Yuck. Is it really so hard to believe the guy would say that? If so, may you all live your next lives as women. There have been way too many times in my life when men have treated me as subhuman simply because I'm a female. I've had more instances when men rolled their eyes at me than I can count. This does not exactly inspire trust in male objectivity. In the typical female's life, condescending and downright insulting treatment from a male is not a rare occurrence. I've met men who would be irate if their wives and daughters were treated in the very same way they treat other women. They're oblivious to their own behavior. There are also quite a few fantastic men out there who treat women well, but the jerks are plentiful.

I'm not prepared to say that the girl in this case is an angelic victim but I'm not yet prepared to paint her as an opportunist because of some internet silliness and an undistinguished employment history. The normal, human, somewhat silly lives we all lead often appear ludicrous when brought into public view.

No doubt, the laws have been set up for a women in these instances. Something smells fishy here. No pun intended.

^its not even that close to complicated.

ben bangs chick....chick tells friends who tell her she missed a golden opportunity. she sat and thought about it and decided to only file a civil complaint to get paid.

who files a civil complaint and not a criminal complaint with it? i know many victims struggle with a course of action because they just want it to go away, but thats not the case here. since the statute of limitations was approaching, her lawyer told her she had to act.

the details dont matter: at worst, she consented to sex and changed her mind during the act. in which case, she's still a crazy broad...... the absence of the criminal complaint and subsequent charges are very telling.

sorry....its not like this is the first chick looking to xxxx an athlete twice.

Yeah, there are so many crazy things involving sports stars nowaday. Lemme ask you something. You think Ben's guilty?

Whether or not he did rape her he's gonna take a hit on his rep. If this is an evil attempt to get money from a well paid athlete it's totally disgusting. If he did in fact rape her then it's disgusting on him as a man and the casino workers to try and cover this all up and act like nothing happened and she should feel honored that he wanted to have sex with her. I guess with big money comes loss of character and a bigger target on your back for the world around you. I hope the truth comes out and both sides get what's deserved them.

Roger Goodell 'will look into' rape accusation against Big Ben

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged that the league will delve into the suit that alleges Steelers QB Big Ben raped a woman in 2008.

"I don't know enough of the details, but it's a civil lawsuit, it's something that we obviously will look into," Goodell told reporters, via NFL.com.

"I've been in touch with the Steelers about it."

Andrea McNulty, a former employee at a Lake Tahoe casino, has accused Roeth lisberger of rape in a civil suit. There is no criminal complaint. More on the accusation here.

Yeah, I'm having trouble figuring out why a Brown's fan would be calling Toothlessberger Big Gay Ben. Unless they have a crush on him. Maybe they are referring to certain sphincter muscles of his that they can personally attest to, like half the men in Shittsburg can.

Found this blurb on the topic per ROTO TIMES

Roethlesberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday 7/22, 8:16 AM CT

According to NFL.com, Commissioner Roger Goodell is looking into the Roethlesburger situation.

Our View: According to the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy the league can suspend Roethlesberger for the alleged rape incident, but it's not common when dealing with civil cases (like Rothlesberger). However, if he is found guilty the league would likely be more apt to take action. A suspension would surely hurt the quarterback's status on draft day. Stay tuned

Obviously some attorney out there feels he has the evidence to support a 400k claim vs Roethlesberger, the casino, and the other people named in this suit. Perhaps there is something to it.. It will be interesting to see.

He has a tough choice to make. If he allows it to go to trial, he runs the risk of being found guilty. He can certainly afford the 400k, but it's the likely serious suspension, and cloud that will forever follow him.... that's the real risk. If he pays to make it go away, Goodell may take that as a guilty plea as well.... but I think the suspension would be less than actually being found guilty in court. He is pretty much in a lose lose situation here.

An employee at Harrah's Lake Tahoe casino has filed a lawsuit against Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Big Gay Ben and Harrah's management, claiming the football star raped her in 2008 and casino officials covered it up.

In her lawsuit filed Friday in Washoe District Court, Andrea McNulty said she was working July 11, 2008, at a desk in the penthouse suite during the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament at Stateline when Rapelisberger, a two-time Super Bowl winner, called her to his room to fix his television.

Once there, he forced her on his bed and raped her, the suit contends. When she later told Harrah's security chief Guy Hyder, the suit said, she was told that Harrah's Tahoe casino president John Koster was a close friend of Rapelisberger and that "most girls would feel lucky to get to have sex with someone like Big Gay Ben."

THE HUDDLE: Rapelisberger cancels Thursday press conference

MICHAEL IRVIN: Accusation will be a distraction to the Steelers

She was told "Koster would love you even more if he knew about this," according to the suit.

The woman claims in the suit that she fell into a deep depression after the rape and spent most of the last six months in and out of hospitals. Her lawyer, Calvin Dunlap, declined Tuesday to comment further. Efforts to reach McNulty were unsuccessful Tuesday.

"Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone; especially Andrea McNulty," Rapelisberger's lawyer, David Cornwell, said. Cornwell denied the claim, saying the absence of any criminal charges are the "most compelling evidence" that the allegations are false.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league was looking into the allegations against Rapelisberger.

"I don't know enough of the details, but it's a civil lawsuit. It's something that we obviously will look into," Goodell said Tuesday when asked about it in New York during an unrelated news conference. "I've been in touch with the Steelers about it."

Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett said the team was aware of the suit but declined to comment. He also said Rapelisberger's status with the team had not changed in response to the suit.

Rapelisberger canceled a Thursday news conference at the Steelers' facilities, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He was scheduled to promote Shaq Vs., a reality television show. Filming of the show, which pits NBA star Shaquille O'Neal against top athletes, begins this week in Pittsburgh.

Harrah's Entertainment spokeswoman Jacqueline Peterson said the company was not named in the suit, and said it does not comment on pending litigation. Speaking for the Harrah's employees named in the suit, company spokeswoman Marybel Batjer said, "It is our company policy not to speak on the record regarding pending litigation."

If this is true, I am disgusted because how the media wants to protect a rapist's image and do you think he's guilty?

What exactly is he being sued for?

He is not being charged with anything, correct?

DNA is the closer in most case's . Did she hang onto some of Big Gay Ben?

If anything this case should set a precedent for all other "raped" ladies. Don't wait to seek 'criminal' justice,

If a President can be dethroned by a 'load that got away' you hope a pittspuker should be able to control his seed.

Stupid, all the way around!!!!!!!!

You can sue someone without any charges. He is being sued for raping this young woman. The Casino is being sued for allegedly forcing her not to call the cops at risk of her job becuase they don't want bad publicity. OJ was found innocent in court of law . He was still sued and lost in civil court. If she has DNA he's screwed. As I said he before; is in a lose, lose situation. If he pays her off Goodell may see this as an admission of guilt and suspend him. If he takes the risk of going to court..he could lose and likely face an even longer suspension..I think he can handle the money aspect of it. It's not that much for a rich guy like him..His reputation is already tainted no matter what the outcome..As we all know..once the allegation is made..people will make up their own mind. Did he do it?..I have no clue. But if there is dna..he's in big trouble..even if he claims consent..he's in trouble. The casino is in big trouble too. I'm surpised she is asking such a small figure when you have deep casino and QB pockets to go after.

In criminal courts, defendants are either found guilty or not guilty. No one on the history of the US has ever been found innocent. The prosecution has to prove its case. A verdict of not guilty only means the prosecution did not prove its case, not that the defendant is innocent.

Rapelisberger: Allegations 'false'Comment Email Print Share ESPN.com news services

Saying that the sexual assault allegations against him are "reckless and false," a forceful Big Gay Ben vowed to fight to protect his family and his reputation Thursday.

"I didn't sexually assault Andrea McNulty," Rapelisberger said. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback said Saturday was the first he learned of the allegations, detailed in a civil suit filed by McNulty.

Rapelisberger said he would "respond to her outrageous allegations in the appropriate forum."

The reports were probably false, if they reported her as a hermaphrodite who is his second cousin, then they would be true and much more believable.

Did Mr. Sipe lead us to 7 of those in a span of ten years?? I think Peter King called the 1950 Cleveland Browns the greatest dynasty in football history for that. Could be mistaken..

Nice Try. The Pro Football Hall of Fame recognizes the AAFC as a major league, just like the AFL.

Or maybe in Pittsburgh the AFL never happened either ... since it was before 1972.

Zombo

--that was quite a minor league with Paul Brown, Otto Graham, Marion Motley, Loe Groza, Elroy Hirsch, Y.A. Tittle, Joe Perry, etc... too bad those guys weren't good enough for the NFL

First off you nimrod, it is not the NFL Hall of Fame, it is the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In the Hall, they mention championships from essentially every single league, as it was a part of history. But that is all the recognition it receives:

http://www.profootballhof.com/history/general/champions.aspx

Interesting to note how the those AAFC Champions are not on there.

Regardless, the AAFC Championships are NOT recognized by the NFL. The league as a whole was a farce, which is why 7 teams from it folded. Yet-ZOMBO-you still pound your chest in superiority about championship games won over defunct teams in a defunct league.

I will more than credit the Browns for winning 4 NFL Titles. But they are not Super Bowls. They required a single post season victory to attain. Ask the Baltimore Colts and the Minnesota Vikings if the NFL Championship and the Super Bowl are the same thing, as they WON the NFL Championship in 1969 and 1970 respectively, but lost the Super Bowl.

The Steelers were a bad team from 1933-1972. But in the modern era of pro football, they have been the best the league has seen. Over every single franchise. You keep trying to pull out the "no football before 1972" card, but we are going on 40 plus years of being the best. Keep the change.

The Browns are a team living off glory from the 40s and 50s. For the last 40 years your franchise has been a joke. You've won 4 playoff games since the merger--better than only 4 teams (one of those teams is the Houston Texans). You've made the playoffs 11 times, better than 12 teams--but 4 of those teams weren't in existance prior to 1996.

Zombo, you got nuthin. Enjoy the 11 game losing streak you're on to us. And hold on to that 2003 win you got that kept it from being an 18 game losing streak.

Uhh ... yeah. That's exactly what I said.

Your comment was that it was a minor league. I proved that wrong by explaning that the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the foremost authority on professional football leagues, recognizes it as a major league.

Three hours of research, two big ben wack-off sessions, and a bag of pork rinds later you come in here all excited because I said "Pro Football" when I meant to say "Pro Football".

Let me guess: you're the Brains of the Steeler Troll Operation.

So let me throw a little pop math quiz at ya: Which is more ... 8 ... or ... 6?

If you said "8" you may advance to the next round, Cultural Studies: Life on Earth before 1972: Did it really happen?
