While many thought that the cash was real, an LSU athletic official told The Advocate's Brooks Kubena that the bills were fake. This certainly doesn't come as a surprise as Beckham appeared to just be having fun with the LSU players. After all, it is against NCAA rules for athletes to accept money of any kind prior to turning pro. Beckham did send every LSU player a set of headphones before the national championship game, which is allowed.

As soon as the game was over Burrow could hire an agent, sign a contract to advertise or take money from anyone he wanted. As he said he ceased to be a scholarship athlete. He gave few bucks, maybe....or pieces of worthless paper, to some kids. It was unnecessary. In the history of college football championship celebrations this was the first time someone handed out cash to the players postgame in front of a TV crew for all the world to see. I’m guessing this was premeditated. So he contemplated doing this before the moment struck and thought it was a good idea. As his Alma Mater is celebrating one of the biggest wins in their history, OBJ has to get in front of the TV and make a himself part of the narrative.
AP1
Instead of LSU enjoying this time now they are going be be in full blown CYA mode. People are going to question if this was the first time it happened. They will question if players with no eligibility are getting money behind closed doors. The film breakdown, no doubt, has already begun.

Jason Fitz talked about it on first and last and it was a segment on Golic & Wingo. Pretty sure it’s national news now. BaconHound
Again, this isn’t even arguing if what he did was morally wrong. It’s about OBJ putting the spotlight on himself in a way that is at minimum controversial in a time that the Browns don’t need any controversial headlines. Are we as a fan base so naive to think the Giants cut ties with him even though he’s a team first, fantastic teammate

Canton Dawg
There's supposed to be a warrant out for OBJ's arrest, for slapping a cop on the ass in the locker room while celebrating with LSU players. There's also a lot of talk on social media that Baker Mayfield has a problem with porn. I never thought Odell & Baker would get in trouble for spanking on the same day. 1

5150k9
I'm tired of this clown. Is his production on the field worth the $hit show and stupid antics he continually does? We want to change the culture on this team per our new coach? send him packing.
