Today's trivia is  a  two parter about Super Bowl winners and losers;

Answers

A.   Thirteen.....13.....Head coaches have won  2 or more   Super Bowls.

Name as many as you can.

Vince Lombardi, Don Shula, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Tom Flores, Bill Walsh, Joe Gibbs, Bill Parcells, Mike Shanahan, Bill Belichick, Tom Coughlin, George Seifert,  Jimmy Johnson

B.  Eight....8...Head coaches have lost  2 or more Super Bowls.

Name as many as you can.

Don Shula, Bud Grant, Tom Landry, Dan Reeves, Marv Levy, Mike Holmgren, John Fox, Bill Belichick.

An interesting thing here is that of the 13  multiple winning SB coaches...none ever won with more than one team..

BUT.....of the 8 multiple SB losing coaches.....half of them....4....lost Super Bowls with more than one team:  Shula, Reeves, Holmgren, Fox.

Different trivia question:  Who's 36th wedding anniversary is it today?  :)

Not today.   You are about 3 months early.  My 36th anniversary will be in August (4th)  I guess that means that you have enjoyed a little less than 3 more months of wedded bliss than I have.

OK,  Too much.

Nevertheless.....these  31  Head coaches whose teams played in the Super Bowl are all part of the Paul Browns coaching tree.   I have highlighted those who appeared in more than one  SB:

Weeb Ewbank

Don Shula

Chuck Noll

Bill Walsh

Bud Grant

Sam Wyche

Don McCafferty

George Seifert

Mike Holmgren

Tony Dungy

Bill Parcells

Mike Shanahan

Kyle Shanahan

Bill Cowher

Mike Tomlin

Mike McCarthy

Pete Carroll

Bill Belichick

Tom Coughlin

Sean Payton

John Harbaugh    (but...apparently NOT Jim Harbaugh)

Gary Kubiak

Jon Gruden

Andy Reid

Forrest Gregg    (shared with Lombardi tree)

Jim Caldwell

Lovie Smith

Raymond Berry

Red Miller

Jim Fassell

Jim Caldwell

Note also....Lou Saban and Blanton Collier who led Bills and Browns to AFL/NFL titles pre SB are also on the list.

So, literally, more than half the HCs that have taken their teams to the SB fall on the Paul Brown coaching tree.

Uh,  No.  Wrong.  Probably should have won.....was leading going into the last game, but Freddie decided that running the ball against the Bengals bad run defense was not the way to go.  RBs...Chubb and Hunt combined only got 16 carries that game.

(and our run defense decided not to show up that day either.....Joe Mixon gained 126 yards).

I was just reading an article about RBs that had Chubb #1this year and that was on my mind. True he shoulda won it last year and shoulda had 1,000 the year before.

No big deal really EXCEPT that the #1 guy is remembered for ever, the rest are "also rans".
