Except the place it got most out of control has been swamped badly by dying patients. NYC. You need to start listening to the MDs in charge of those hospitals & their staff Steve, not the fool on the hill.

I guess it will have to hit that magic # of total combat deaths in Vietnam (58,000+) to make an impression. It won't take long if we foolishly follow this idiot into an arbitrary reopen date with no testing data to justify it. And/Or break the individual state stay at home orders he is calling for.

EDIT: BTW as of yesterday we are up past 33,000 dead which is under-reporting since many die without testing.

EDIT #2: Now at 36,698 this morning. More people died from it in here in one day than the highest number in any one month during the war by a factor of around 5Xs+.

Strassel: Here’s Why the Democrats Keep Moving the Shutdown Goal Posts

The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel writes, “The goal of the shutdown was never to eradicate the disease—an impossibility absent a vaccine. The lockdown was designed to buy the health sector time, to make sure all the cases didn’t hit at once in a crush that would overwhelm hospitals, à la Italy.”

“The Democrats have moved the goal posts,” writes Strassel. They are setting up impossible conditions so they can blame President Trump for each COVID-19 death that comes after the shutdown ends. Even with mass testing and contact tracing, deaths will continue to occur. Trump is not a magician. And the Democrats know this. “Yet Mrs. Pelosi sees in this moment a political opportunity to pin the blame for the natural course of a disease on the White House,” notes Strassel.

It is true that the coming election will be a referendum on Trump’s management of this crisis. But voters aren’t stupid. They can see for themselves that the President is focused on the pandemic. They also see that as millions of Americans struggle, the Democrats view this an opportunity to exploit. Pelosi delayed the original relief bill by trying to add her “wish list” items. Just this week, she blocked the replenishment of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) which has helped so many small business owners make it through the shutdown. Rep. Steny Hoyer announced that the House would adjourn until May 4 – unless there was an emergency. And the repellent Adam Schiff has already planned his “9/11 style” commission to investigate the President for all of the “mistakes” he has already made and for those he will surely make. They’ve seen the President persecuted for nearly four years for crimes he did not commit.

This is virgin territory for the President and his advisors as it is for every world leader. No head of state alive today has ever dealt with a pandemic of this magnitude. Unless Trump were to commit a deliberate, egregious error, I think most Americans will see through the Democrats’ spin.

Yep-and King Lyndon had to quit over similar monthly numbers in 1968. This King just sticks by his "Liberate" tweets without understanding what it means.

and you need to be less of the tunnel vision idiot. If anybody is responsible for New York City's problems it's the governor of the state and the mayor of the city. Both of whom encouraged business-as-usual well after the FED decided there was a big problem. And the governor who called curtailing Flights in and out of his disease-ridden state head Act of War. And tough shit the phony models never did come to pass.

This has nothing to do with blue versus red this has to do with green. How many people think that the obviously inflated coronavirus numbers are manipulated in such a way to soak more Federal money out of Washington?

US hospitals getting paid to list patients as Covid-19

Hospitals are getting paid more to list patients as Covid-19 and three times as much if the patient goes on a ventilator, according to The Spectator.

https://accountingweekly.com/us-hospitals-getting-paid-to-list-patients-as-covid-19/

** The part about hospitals getting three times as much if a patient goes on a ventilator concerns me. A ventilator has got to be the last resort option as there are real negative impacts of placing someone on a ventilator and IMO anyone who can get by without being on one is better off. But hospitals have the financial incentive here of putting patients on ventilators.

It's all a conspiracy!   😆

Yep-and one other part of that conspiracy is that from yesterday to today we surpassed the total number of combat deaths during the entire Korean War which was 33,746. But still the yahoos here are sippin and tippin on an orange lollipop.😛🤴

No, its that your too dense to put it perspective by just doing basic math.

Roughly 33,000 deaths among a population of 328,000,000 = approximately 100 deaths per 1,000,000 million people so far.  That ain't shit.  Probably we're looking at 60K deaths when its all said and done. Time we open the country back up.

It's "roughly" 38,000 now. Ketchup baby tomato.

So you want to open it up and give another jump-start? Now who's being dense? Oh wait, the King is telling you to think that?🤴 My apologies. You're only being a loyal lemming.🌊🐾

Holy hell snowflake then that makes it a whopping 116 deaths per 1,000,000.  Double 38,000 to 76,000 deaths and we got 232 deaths per 1,000,000.

Devastating.

My challenge for you all is to watch the interview this morning with Republican Maryland Governor Larry Hogan on Jake Tapper's State of the Union on CNN. Replay starts at 12:00 pm EDT  today on CNN. No it isn't what you think. He has free reign to talk about the virus, when the governors were informed what was coming and who informed them, what he thinks about reopening and what he thinks needs to happen. Also says what he thinks about the mixed messages from Trump from Thursday to now. He pulls no punches and is honest about all of it. Maybe you will listen to a Republican with the courage to be truthful.

Fair enough, but he is really a rhino. Conservatives never get elected in Maryland. lol

There have been mixed messages - doctors disagree, the situation changed dramatically. I'm still really po'd at the WHO - mixed messaging has apparently been happening all around the world - because -

https://www.theblaze.com/news/who-coronavirus-tweet-china-transmission

Report says WHO's infamous COVID-19 human-to-human transmission tweet was to 'balance' coverage

The WHO warned hospitals of a "super-spreading" event on the same day as the infamous tweet.
