Have to admit, I was very iffy on dumping a top 7-8 punter in Colquitt

You weren't alone.  Colquitt was good.  And a good holder for FG's.

I don't think that we're allowed to know whether the Hammer has COVID or is a contact tracing person.  Hopefully our guys don't have it.

So what does this mean we have no punter this year?... This stupid farce has gone on long enough.. if you're destined to get it.. so be it.... I wonder what would happen if Tom Brady tested positive.... I'm sure the NFL would sweep it under the rug like anything else.. And as usual.. DuhWino doesn't have a fucking clue..

Can i buy a vowel on whom the Duh wino is? Hammers a beer guy..Stef looks to be a Wine guy? Berry? anywho? am not destined to get it;)

May see some action on this today? Roster sits at 86 & can still have 90 at this point..

a) we have no holder 🤔..

b.) Austin Seibert punted at Oklahoma all 3 seasons.. but to the tone of 5 yards less than Gillian per punt & with ugly hang times..

C) FA punters? about 8, and Seibert maybe better than whats on the list..Case Keenum? have ya ever held for placekickers?

Facts don't care about your feelings.

Covid is not the flu

Cloth masks do protect the wearer

You always have the opportunity to accept reality on reality's terms.  But by doing that, of course, you might become a liberal.

I will reply further on the Political Board.  And by further, I mean never!

Indeed, UCSF.edu is a bullshit website and the peer-reviewed Journal of General Medicine is a bullshit magazine!

I didn't realize before that  you were from Concord Mass.  Does it feel sometimes like you are standing on the North Bridge fending off some of these lobster brains? Or that you just want to hibernate in a cabin over at Walden Pond until this long national nightmare is over,   i.e.  12:00 noon  1/20/21?

Ironically, as Nathaniel Hawthorne once pointed out, the name Concord implies peace and harmony.

I don't have faith in the "liberal" elites however -- I think they'll set the stage for another Trump by not making enough actual economic change to benefit the middle class.  It's important to understand both the demonization of populism [Richard Hofstadter was eloquent but full of disinformation] and the reality that Trump's policies were mainstream Republican even though he campaigned as a populist.

As someone [i forget who] once said, we do have one-party [corporate] rule in the US -- it's just that in typical American fashion, we have two of them.

If you have the interest, read Thomas Frank. Each of his books "The Problem With Kansas," "Listen, Liberal" and his new one "The People, No" -- detail a very different story of US history and its actual politics than what "news" would have us believe.  The elite response to Trump is eerily similar to the way the elites of the time responded to the nomination of William Jennings Bryant.

Absolutely correct. The typical Republican policies that Trump follows (not what he espouses)  is to do whatever it takes to enrich the investor class at the expense of the middle and working class. What little DJT has accomplished has been to that end, like the huge tax cut for the wealthy.  If Trump really wanted to Make America Great Again...if he really wanted us to be a throwback to when this country was in fact the leading industrial nation in the world....then he would be fighting hard to have labor unions be a strong power again, as they were  from the late 40s to the late 70s.  He would demand that CEO to worker compensation ratio go back to the generous 25 or 30 to 1 ratio....not the  obscene 300-500 to one it is now. His anti-regulation policies are wholly to promote traditional Republican views of putting as little restraint on business operations as possible...and damn the environment, damn the health and safety of the workers, damn anything representing a benefit, like health care, etc. for the traditional working class.  In the past the Rs have use so called social/cultural issues...merely as a facade for gaining middle class or conservative votes...not that they care.  It is just that Trump is far more disingenuous in this regard than some of his predecessors. He could care less about abortion really (he would care less if every black and hispanic baby conceived were aborted). Religion? He worships the almighty dollar (not that a lot of them on both sides don't...they are just not as phony about it). Family Values?  Screwing Porn Stars while wife is pregnant...lusting after his own daughter (which is OK for all the rest of us...just not him); hanging with pedophiles like Epstien;  teaching all of his kids the art of the grift.  Real Family values.  His belief, which he continues to cling to, is that enough rubes will vote for him to keep him in power. Where he diverts from traditional Republican values is in his approach to our democracy, our institutions, our secure  place in the world. He would tear our democracy down to keep himself in power (see the idea about postponing the election),  he would destroy our institutions (the independence of the Justice Department...and the Judicial branch for that matter, not to speak of his distrust of the like of the FBI, CIA etc. ...which certainly have had their issues...but they are the organizations that do promote America,  the military...he thinks he knows more than generals)  He would give over control of our nation to a foreign adversary (he genuflects to Putin and basically does all his bidding....and refuses to even speak up when that adversary attempts to kill our troops).  But, you know, that the boy that a lot of people want to continue to lead us....but hell, he is afraid to lead a dog on a leash (really...he is afraid of dogs).

As someone [i forget who] once said, we do have one-party [corporate] rule in the US -- it's just that in typical American fashion, we have two of them.

I have heard and just read a few excerpts of the Kansas book..not the other.

Imagine having your guy, the guy you've wanted your whole life, as the president of this country. Imagine his political party controlling a major legislative branch of our government, as well as the majority of the Supreme Court. Yet somehow, with your guy having about as much power as humanely possible thinking this to be true. It either makes you extremely dumb or admitting your idol can't stop his enemies despite wielding a much bigger sword. And then realize they have the same ability to vote-please vote.

Anyway, will be super interesting how COVID rocks the NFL. I know they are likely learning less than nothing watching the MLB crumble around the pandemic, but I sure as shit hope they're at least thinking of plan B.

I.. really don't draw any distinctions here.. they're all disingenuous and I can't fathom how or where any lines would be drawn.  As an example -- Bill Clinton was going to privatize Social Security on a Monday but the weekend prior, the Monica Lewinsky "scandal" went public.. Lewinsky, not Democrats despite all posturing since 1998, is the reason we still have social security.

So T stating that Clinton is corrupt doesn't mean that Trump is any more-or-less different.

It's interesting to watch R's latch onto one piece of fact [D's are corrupt] and abjectly refuse to look at the reality that R leaders are just as corrupt.

Because.. if they're both corrupt.. who is corrupting them? The same people/lobbyists/corporations.  They give big money to both parties so they always win.  And if the same corporations that neither him, me, or you are going to inherit money from in our lifetimes have terminally corrupted both parties.. then perhaps the biggest difference that needs an actual government intervention is not the random gaps between the three of us but rather the single gap between our shared economic class and the corporate interests themselves.

That, friends, is populism.

The reason elites in both parties have reacted so stupidly to Trump is due to the shock of someone from outside the political establishment actually winning.

Just one of many quick examples: Because Trump said China was evil - which they objectively are - Feinstein said the other day that China "is growing into a respectable nation" [in a misguided reflexive take-the-other-position response to T].  No they're not.. but the reason she can't admit this is because she's wildly indebted to the corporations whose leaders became rich by taking factory jobs from Ohio and sending them to China. The corruption plaguing both parties in this example is the intentional refusal to focus on the people comprising a specific economic class of our country [those supranational companies have zero allegiance to the US] and implement a variety of policies which together define an industrial policy.

Well, I think you are referring to the basic institutional corruption that has occurred in our government since Washington left office.  Trump's corruption is far more of the purely crass variety.  Do this for me, give me this money...and I will do that for you, or I won't do that for you if you don't do my bidding, or give me that money.   I guess you could say that his corruption is more  "blue collar" corruption than the typical  kind of "White collar" kind of corruption that you reference.  Trump just engages in exponentially more of each kind of corruption than any of his predecessors.   I mean, Trump has been on both sides of the White collar corruption. He gave money to all kinds of candidates, if I recall.   Hell, he may have even contributed to Joe Biden's election campaigns.   In checking...apparently Yes.  Biden, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, John Kerry among other prominent Ds have received contributions from Trump...or his kids.

No as someone who has made a study of presidents long before he ever came on the scene I can tell you definitively that Trump will go down in history as the worst president we’ve ever had. There’s really no debate about it.

That's the problem with nickers... he never "leaves it at that".

He's always striving to say something even more idiotic than the last idiotic thing he said.

You can't say he sits on his laurels, though.

He might be going for the most loved/hated president of all time and if he keeps saying stupid stuff might actually lose to Biden.

NOTE: I normally NEVER get into politics or religion on sports boards it is a divisive almost guaranteed "no win" situation..... except here on the poli board which can be entertaining.

Jeepers! Keep to the Topic! I can't* be the only sports fan to click on topics "to avoid* the world news & covid"? We have a Polly board for the Clinton's & a Football & Corona Virus Topic for the problem solvers.... and thanks for the attempted kind words..JPPT1974

now back to a on Topic Question (hopefully)- How does Gillan pass a league covid test, if dead corona virus cells will still kick-off to a positive covid league test? 🤔 He's had 3 failed tests in just over a month...but hey, "am feeling fine"
