I think I want to kick on 2nd down from 50 plus yards out...crazy yes...commitable...nah a rational person can understand we need some clarity here at this position let’s see what they have

Interestingly, Parkey is ranked 17th all time in FG pct.  Higher than Phil Dawson, Matt Stover, Lou Groza, Adam Vinatieri, etc.

Stats are deceiving. I think we all know Parker is shaky beyond 40 yards.

a kicker stat not worth wasting your time 🤓..

49 placekickers are on 32 teams at this point..

Neither Browns placekicker has locked up the position.. stay tuned..

And many games are won or lost right there.

A great placekicker is worth his weight in gold......or Ws.

So, what did we see in the game to help us decide upon one or the other?

Parkey got a 48 yarder.  But it was a one banker, off the left upright.  He also made a 34 yarder.

McLaughlin got the Browns first points of the season with a 37 yarder, and he made both extra points (which are no longer gimmies)

Parkey kicked off 56 yards to the 9 (big return, called back).  Then 71 yards to the -6.  Then 2 touchbacks.

McLaughlin kicked off 2 times both touchbacks.

This one seems to be a dead heat so far. I can say I was underwhelmed by Parkey  last year. I often wonder how many of the short kicks were by design. God forbid why as our coverage sucked on special teams. I think kickers are like closer in bball. 99% of it’s between their ears and when they get rattled they are done for.

Just saw this, Parkey headed to IR after suffering what must be a nasty quad injury. This means Chase McLaughlin is the frontrunner for the kicking job.

My Braveheart themed kicking room is turning into a reality. We got the Scortish Hammer, and now the Irish Booter. Does that have a nice ring or what?

You may take my downs, but you will never take… MY FIELD POSITIOOOON!!!

And our next long snapper will be Welsh.

One ST guy from all Old-Timey countries now a part of GB..

So much for our united nations special teams in 2021.

Solving the major BROWNS personal problems one at a time.

Well, that settles the kicker camp battle.  Unless they bring someone in.

Maybe Parkey will return late in the season if McClaughlin turns Laughable.

He has to make the initial 53 and then be placed on IR to be eligible to return this year. By putting him on IR now means he’s done for the season. It must be a severe enough injury for them to do it that way.

Keep an eye on K Ryan Santoso (Giants).

McLaughlin has more impressive stats & background than Santoso. In addition, the Giants want to trade him & I don't like trading for kickers. I'm not making those decisions (nor am I capable of doing so), so we'll just have to wait & see what happens.

That guy’s just speculating on signing Gostkowski. I don’t see it happening because he doesn’t fit the Braveheart kicking room at all.

Maybe not. There is a question mark there.

Which is why I added the 2nd post.

In taking a bit of a closer look at Chase, the misses early in 2019 all came in his first four games in the NFL. It makes the career line a little dicey, but-

In his last 11 games, looks like he only missed 3 kicks (with one being blocked) and 1 extra point over 19 and 32 tries, respectively. He's been with the team, I'm fine seeing what he can do for week one. Also hit two 50 yard kicks.
