    They want Vrabel

Also nobody has asked to interview Schwartz afaik, maybe not that hot of a commodity.

Ravens and Cowboys DC seem to be hot defensive candidates though.

I'll be interested to see where the Patriots go, to be honest. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they go in a completely different way. Kraft is 82 years old and this move, to me, signals trying to get one more shot at glory. Could that be achieved by going the "Patriots way" and hiring Vrabel? Maybe. But part of me thinks if they wanted to keep this Patriots way why not just keep Bill through next season (end of his contract).

I just get this vibe they may try to get that lightning in a bottle coach like McVay or Shanahan.

  2. In full retrospect, the only thing that is very true is that a player shouldn't veto the coach in that situation. He called the kneel down and that should be the play ran. It sends the wrong signal for sure to not be on the same page, even in that situation.

  3. It jcan't emphasized enough how much the "mini" bye week is going to factor into this game. To get two full weeks of rest given the nature of this season may (hopefully) service clutch for a playoff run.

Pressure rates rise, turnovers tend to come with it.  Joe needs to avoid the silly throws, including the one's we've seen where they miraculously break our way and don't hurt the offense.  That only goes so far before it bites you in the ass.

Yep- the quiet part out loud is Joe could easily have 3-4 more INT's than he does now. At this point, you just gotta hope it keeps going the right way because it's hard to imagine his mentality is going to change.

  4. I candidly don't give a shit about the "etiquette" of scoring  in particular when it comes to the professional level of any sport. These dudes get paid millions and millions of dollars to play defense, maybe just stop them instead.

In lower levels of the sport? Sure, but to act like Arthur Smith did because grown men getting paid are getting their asses whipped is just dumb.

If Pittsburgh ends up in the playoffs, we're gonna hear endless praise of how terrific Mike Tomlin is all over again.  He had WRs not running routes and refusing to throw blocks for teammates just a few weeks ago on the train wreck of an offense they fielded all year. They had a fight on the sidelines between Fitzpatrick and WR D. Johnson.  Sometimes, the auto-pilot success in Pittsburgh needs to be credited to the Ownership Family instead of the beneficiary. Earlier on in Tomlin's tenure - he looked like their perfect fit and they advanced in the playoffs. Once all that fizzled and most recently, the main difference between Mike Tomlin and Jeff Fisher looks to me like 1 team was complacent with 8-8 football and the other remains fine with barely making the playoffs and not advancing.  For a while, the state of Ohio (alone) was giving Tomlin 3-4 wins almost every year.  He still got that this year with Cincy being 0-5 in the division.  I just don't see the next Chuck Noll in Pittsburgh the media seems to want to see. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with this and that's fine.

Yeah, I'd definitely disagree that Tomlin isn't a top coach. It sucks, but the teams the Steelers have fielded post Big Ben have been well below average and to achieve a winning record is a tip of the cap.

With that being said, the playoff record is going to catch up to him to your point. 4 straight losses in the playoffs going back to 2016 and the last two weren't even close games.

  6. Put simply, I don't see why he'd get reps over any of the guys in Ford, Hunt, or Strong. Don't forget that Pierre is on the special teams unit and unless I'm sorely mistaken Dalvin ain't lining up for kickoffs. I personally also think Strong in limited action has looked pretty decent.

The only scenario to me that makes logical sense to me is if they believe in the 2ish weeks Cook provides an upgrade over Hunt, which I don't see personally. I suppose if he'd be willing to sign to the PS it'd be a super good upgrade if someone goes down, but I doubt that what's he looking for.

This video does a great job too: https://twitter.com/JeffDLowe/status/1736916481097822528

I don't agree all of them are egregious, but the first three (and especially the first two) are an absolute embarrassment. Not only is it an absolute tragedy, but Garrett could get seriously hurt with the nonsense these guys are getting away with lately. It makes my blood boil man.

I think he is a COTY contender there’s just other good contenders too that haven’t won it before.

It’s hard to argue with the results, he’s adapted the offense to multiple style of QBs too seamlessly. Watson the mobile star power guy opens things up the most, but also DTR the rookie who is limited in downfield ability, Walker who is limited in every ability, and Flacco who is a pure pocket passer.

Just look at what the Jets and Broncos (at the time) incompetent coaching did to Flacco vs how Kevin’s offense has him looking like he’s 26 again. It also could be said that he had a role in cementing Kirk cousins as a starter.

The team has bought into Kevin big time.

Absolutely- if you believe Vegas he has the 12th best odds: https://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/coach-of-the-year/

Honestly, COTY has most years turned into a bit of a popularity contest. I think Dan Campbell is a great coach but I simply don't believe he's a stronger candidate given their roster and division.

  9. The Browns literally took a 38 year old QB off the couch to be the 4th QB to start. This season we've beaten the following teams, all of which would be in the playoffs if the season ended today:

    - Steelers

    - 49ers

    - Ravens

    - Jaguars

    - Colts

    - Bengals (who I get are on the outside but right there)

and are in the drivers seat to be a playoff team this year. Despite this, some of you clowns are still suggesting Stefanski isn't an extremely quality head coach. It's like you all forget the days of Pat Shurmer looking like he saw the face of God on the sideline every week.

The fact Kevin isn't a serious contender for COY is crazy to me.

Not a must win, maybe if we dropped one against the ravens or Steelers the last couple weeks it would have been more of a must win. Frankly nothing is a must win yet, the browns are still a playoff team as of today.

I have a really hard time seeing us drop the bears, jets, and bungles. One more against the jags, Texans, or rams and we’re in the playoffs. Might even be at 3-3

No idea why Flacco wasn’t on the active roster, PJ Walker is a death sentence for any victory. Normally people are sarcastic when they say some rando on the street could do better, but I mean I think some rando on the street could also manage multiple fumbles, safety, and picks like Walker does.

If you’re gonna put the ball in DTRs hands 30 times in 3 quarters and give him designed running plays against the bounty hunting broncos, then you better not have pj fucking walker as his replacement.

It's absolutely wild they won a single game with him as a QB. To be honest, watching some with the Panthers I thought it was a definitely "could be worse" 3rd string QB situation. But man- this dude should not even sniff the league. I don't think I've ever seen a guy with less pocket awareness than PJ, it's insane how blitzes just blow that man up.

It's all about lessons learned, and this FO I'm confident understands now that the backup situation can't be trusted to later round drafted rookie and (insert) random dud journeyman. Really sucks to think that Dobbs or Brissett (a longer shot, but I'm guessing would have re-signed with a lucrative deal) were right there. I've always understood the thought process- DTR balled out in the preseason and there's a very, very strong chance if we didn't commit to him on 53 man roster he would have not be a Brown. But the biggest hindsight was letting Dobbs walk.

    294 yards can’t translate to 29 points.

Too many Short fields and turnovers or special teams blunders.  Two of these were really bad yesterday.

If we are going to win with what I believe is the worst or one of the worst QB situations in the AFC- we have to play field position, limit turnovers and we have to play special teams well covering kicks.

Yep- despite the 3rd string dude in again, it was absolutely a game (and should have been tied) until the Moore fumble that was completely self- inflicted. Zero percent chance of winning games with this squad with that type of mistake.

I was actually at a wedding so didn't watch this game, but to be honest this one "is what it is". I know a lot of people had this as a "must win" a month ago, but the Broncos are arguably the hottest team in the NFL and Denver is a notoriously tough spot to visit, let alone with a rookie QB. Still got multiple winnable games on the schedule (Rams, Bears, Jets, and Bengals) that making the postseason is still right in front of the team.
