  1. https://reddit.com/r/Browns/s/kEjss1mtiM idk man, the whole thing just reeks to me. Look, the rational person in me gets what some of you are trying to say. Skipping this game gives a guy a full two weeks to recover and God willing not miss another snap. I also more strongly feel like it’s being indicated the team, staff, and teammates thought he was good enough to play and he willingly did not. That shit will absolutely kill a locker room if there’s truth to it, especially because he’s the highest paid player on the team.
  2. Eh- If there's fluid in the shoulder or it's a bad bruise, I get it. I know it's easy to compare this to Mayfield and how in retrospect he probably should have sat. But the fact the Browns are being so "mum" leads me to a place where the dude could have played, but said no (which Stefanski did confirm that he shut himself down despite being medically cleared). Meanwhile, you have Derek Carr with a confirmed AC Joint Sprain who laced them up. It's pretty hard to not rationally go to a place where he could have played, and didn't. If that's the case, I'm not going to have ill feelings about questioning the toughness of the highest paid, most important player of the team.
  3. I know the link was posted before, but a bit cleaner: https://apnews.com/article/deshaun-watson-shoulder-injury-cleveland-browns-e0a7c8567b09d32d8b770f1b13feb84a I'm sorry man, going into a bye and a huge early game it sits really shitty with me. You had Carr go with a bum shoulder, Burrow with his calf, and a dude medically cleared to play chooses not to. I'm not naive or aloof to the world not being a movie, but tough to swallow.
  4. I’ll be honest, the most disappointing thing to me was did they not see this awful play from DTR in practice this last month? I can logically get why they kept him on the active roster, as his preseason tape probably gets him scooped up by someone else. But my God, that was some of the worst quarterback play I’ve ever seen (and we’ve seen a lot). PJ Walker at least gives this team a fighting chance. DTR clearly needs a lot more time to marinade.
  5. The wife was nice enough to plan to watch the game as a Disney break. I’m officially back to buying overpriced merch and beers- see you clowns in two weeks
  6. Good offensive game plan by the Ravens so far. They are playing into the over pursuit of our aggressive line perfectly on that drive. Gonna be a long day me thinks- defense can only bail out so much.
  7. That was a series of awful throws. have they said what’s wrong with Watsons shoulder? Been at Disney all weekend.
  8. You aren't going to find many people who love Nick like I do, trust me. The way he plays the game is something I could watch every Sunday till the good Lord calls me up. With that being said, he will be 28 and closer to the side of 29 (we share the same birthday actually) for the season next year and will also be on the last year of his deal. Additionally, as we know he will be coming off a second major knee injury. Going into next season, the Browns could save over $11 million dollars if they choose another route. The reality is, Watson is going to be (hypothetically) on this team for the next 8-10 years. If the offense system adjusts to Chubb not being here and plays the level we saw Sunday, it's a tougher conversation than simply "bring that man back". Again, trust me- I wish Chubb could be on this team and run the ball 300 times for another 20 years. But sometimes tough decisions come out of the woodwork, especially on good teams.
  9. I would be curious to see what a guy like Achane in Miami could do in the backfield, I'll admit. More specifically, thinking about some of the stuff they are having Elijah Moore do but with more of a RB skillset. The issue for next year, depending how this one goes, is that the Browns have arguably been the best "traditional" running team in football outside maybe the Titans. Much of this team's identity has been around running the ball that way. I was curious, and since 2019 the Browns have finished no worse than 7th in total rushing yards, with the teams ahead of the Browns being those with mobile QB's (Ravens, Bears last year etc.). If the teams finds a lot of success in moving away from that identity, the conversation of how Chubb fits, as great as he is, definitely comes into play.
  10. After the second TD, I went to the bathroom as they were lining up for the extra point. When I got back, I laughed with my dad that I felt it was first time in years I wasn't on baited breath watching it go through the uprights. Hopkins is kicking an extremely clean ball right now, and the concern about 50+ is showing promise given he's made both from that range so far. You can just tell he has extreme confidence- haven't seen that in a while.
  11. The Broncos are potentially in an absolute abomination of a scenario. A coach you got $100 million tied up with who seems like he should have stayed retired. A QB (who actually is playing better) but certainly isn't living up to a massive contract that isn't easy, at all, to get out of. I'll be very interested to see how the Payton sage unfolds- never been a huge fan of the dude and methinks he was a bit of a better coach with an all-time great QB, who knew? On the other side, as my whole extended family are Dolphins fans I watched the first two games intently. Man, what can you say- their offense is hypnotic to watch. The accuracy and precision of the routes is just absurd, and the speed on the team is incredible. Their defense is good enough (around 20th in the NFL) for me to say they are the best team in the NFL right now. I've never seen a team just move the ball at absolute will like this in a long time.
  12. Got to enjoy this game with my old man which was great, wasn’t too active today. Just a few thoughts. -Watson looked like the Houston days for the first time in a Browns jersey. 123.4 rating, can’t get much better than that. -In that regard, I’ll give coach a lot of credit. As I was begging for last week, they focused a lot on medium throws and high percentage decisions. - defense has now allowed 18 points this season, 7 of which were on a blown coverage in the Steelers game. What else is there to say, these guys are absolute dawgs out there. I fucking love it.
  13. At least on my TV an ad for sports betting ran right after the two minute warning. That’s suspension level bad- they better hold that asshole accountable.
  14. I was listening to NFL radio this morning and they mad the points I was yelling all game. They compared Watson to Josh Allen and the strategy the Browns should be implementing. In regards to Allen, not unlike Watson, in week one made terrible decisions that almost single handedly cost them the game. You watch the Bills highlights from week two and what do you see? 17 carries for 100+ yards from their RBs. A lot more short and intermediate throws that allow their guys to make plays. Solid defense on the back end and Allen using his legs more effectively. Sound familiar? The phrase the announcer used was "the Browns need to focus on base hits and not home runs". Stefanski needs to get his head out of his ass and focus on that mantra this season. Watson has thrown terrible deep balls so far this season, but IMO has thrown darts in the 7-15 yard range. Assuming Hunt comes back, I still believe in the run game and screens. Gotta make the game simple, but I'm afraid coach is too stubborn to do that.
  15. To say it a bit differently, there are just certain players that are going to be looked at under the microscope on the football field. You can think about guys like Suh, Burfict, etc. Watson is just always going to be on that type of list, I believe.
  16. On top of all the fundamental issues, the thing that can't be expressed enough is the NFL does not want to see Watson succeed. I don't think it's some grand conspiracy where Goddell has his finger on a big red button that leads to refs. But late in the game with the 2nd facemask, do you think that gets called on the vast majority of QB's in that situation? Because I don't. It's also tough to think how on earth they missed the one on Watson when his helmet was sideways. I only mean to say that on top of the seemingly fundamental issues, this shroud will always cast over this organization. That stuff oozes down, there's no way it doesn't.
  17. The simple fact of the matter is the QB position lost this game for the Browns, and looked really bad in a lot of spots doing so. If you want to blame coaching, or the QB himself? Up to people smarter to me. What I saw though was Watson seeing ghosts out there last night. There were at least 4 times I noticed easy underneath throws being available, and open, and Watson just didn't put the ball where it needed to be. The question fundamentally becomes is it a QB issue or a scheme issue? Maybe both? The toughest part is towards the end of the game the dude was seeing ghosts out there. Abandoning the pocket early and just making really bad decisions. The Titans formula is eerily similar to the Steelers, we will see how it goes. Want to know the most fun fact from yesterday? The Browns held the Steelers to -4 yards of offense, with a lead, in the 4th quarter and lost.
  18. Seeing your guys jersey get pulled in HD to end the game just fucking blows. 4 holds on the Browns line today and that gets missed. im just shocked the Steelers get that garbage, shocked!
  19. Watson is starting to see ghosts out there. There’s no defending it, it’s just bad play. Honestly need a turnover here.
  20. I saw that coming a mile away unfortunately. The absolute refusal to adjust play calling is brutal.
  21. There’s nothing that drives me crazier than refs clearly looking for a certain flag. That’s a super questionable hold at a huge ass time,4 of them? Ridiculous. jesus Christ.
  22. Eh, me thinks that was going to be a fake punt, they didn’t like the look, and then he was “injured”
  23. The number one thing Kevin does that just infuriates me is refusing to give up long developing plays. This defense is begging to get beat with short passes but everything is 3+ second throws. It’s ridiculous.
  24. Desperately need half time. Everyone on the team is rattled and the play calling is absolutely awful.
