Knew they weren't ready for Prime time in 2016 so they rolled up and out into '17 and '18. 2016 was Round 3, 4, 5 dominated. Many misses, but also hit on a 4th, Schobert, and a 5th, Higgins.

2017 was Round One dominated... MG was a no brainer no one gives them credit for, yet they did not blow it did they? Peppers and Njoku? Jury is still out. And still managed to stock 2018 with an extra #1 and an extra #2...

Not great drafts? Yup, not great... although compared to Farmer's two they look pretty good

Now how about we discuss 2018 and 2019?

2018... Two 1sts and two 2nds and all we know for sure is that we have a great RB, Chubb. We also might have a good #2/3 WR, Ratley.

2019... we appear to have a good Kicker... hoo-fucking-ray... but we added a oft injured DE and a mixed-blessing WR thru trades that included our #1 and a major piece of our OL.

I was not a huge fan of Peppers but he was playing better and he was better in the run game than anyone else on the current roster.

NJokeWho was a horrible pick.  Forget injuries, if you take a TE in the 1st round he better he can’t miss.

I was a Dorsey hater this year for the fact that he looked fans in the face while marching that trash OL out there.  He traded away pieces that would’ve made the team better for OBJ and Vernon, mistake.  As fans we get caught up in the hype but it’s a GM’s job to be calm and objective and evaluate the overall talent of the team.

Ward going to the pro-bowl and being graded as a top 15 CB year 1 made plenty of sense.  Especially given the marriage of need + talent at that time.

I may be one of the few guys who think that DB play has been diminished in this pass happy NFL.  Ward has been a very good player but if I’m trying to stop offenses in the NFL it’s control the line of scrimmage and get pressure on the QB.  DBs don’t get away with the grabbing and hand playing they used to.  Ward’s impact would be greater if the team was more polished.  So we drafted a DB when we weren’t controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  As I said earlier I’m for drafting DBs high for the Browns and will admit that isn’t popular.

This hire I find uninspiring but I hope it works, I hope he is the guy who will bring the discipline needed to make this team play up to its potential. He doesn't have to be flashy, just do a good job. Any word if he will be calling his own plays?

I believe he is a “players coach”, doesn’t scream discipline. I would’ve have like a disciplinarian but not sure OBJ, Landry, Garrett, Randall, etc. want to be held accountable

Hunt is elite.  Trading Beckham for Tyreek Hill is the move.  Reunited.  Hunt and Hill were special together.  Mayfield thrives with Mahomes leftovers.

Hell let’s trade Mayfield for Mahomes if we are just making shit up

  5. Tia is right on the money. You need to make sure the film and analytics lineup early.  The failing I’ve seen the past many years in the draft is grabbing guys in the first round at positions that haven’t made immediate impacts or drafting positions out of whack. Garrett and Mayfield, even though I’m not a Baker fan, made sense.  Ward and NJokeWho didn’t to me.

...and there were guys in the QB's face all game long.

Welcome to the NFL. Vikings D looked lights out against New Orleans and then Shanahan put together a game plan.  Stefanski did nothing against the 49ers or the last three weeks with the playoffs on the line.  Good news is Cleveland has a great O Line and rock solid QB, smh

  7. I'm lukewarm on Freddie at this point.  Unlike others I don't have a ton of problems with his play calling.  Team discipline on the other hand seems to be lacking.  Again, it seems that a lot fans in here continue to hold coaches more responsible than GMs and forgive players almost entirely.  The issues I see.

Baker Mayfield - he hasn't been good.  Not sure about blaming the play calling when he misses guys that are open, doesn't trust throwing guys open, holds the ball to long on certain routes and has consistently missed high.

Offensive Line - Screw John Dorsey.  For a GM to believe this cast of characters would be good enough to compete for a playoff spot is an indictment on that GM.

OBJ Trade - Screw Dorsey again.  Weakened the OL for a guy who appears to be overrated.  OBJs hands have been average at best, doesn't seem to separate as well as one would hope and is still a distraction (watch, visor, does he want to be here)

Secondary - Screw Dorsey once again.  Ward has been good but not to the level of the #4 pick, Williams is awful, Randall is very inconsistent and what's with all the hamstring issues?  Losing Peppers hurt us in the run game so another thanks Dorsey

Attitude - Team is not focused and lacks leadership.  Baker, Landry, Garrett, Ward, OBJ, etc. are not leaders.  Chubb who is clearly 110% of what Cleveland is about and needs, is a quiet guy and doesn't seem like the guiding force.  Freddie doesn't seem capable in this area either.

Besides Hunt only Lewis is not on his rookie deal, so I'm not getting why you cited other salaries, gum...

Bernard, Lewis and Duke are strictly 3rd down back whereas Hunt's rushing title showed he can be more. Makes him a tweener.... very difficult to value.... very difficult to afford... at least beyond 2020.

In 2020 Hunt's a RFA so if we throw $3.278mm his way, then we'd get a 2020, 2nd-round pick in return, if he's signed away.

Someone might do it for a 2nd... , but his suspension history could be off-putting.

Tender the 2nd round offer and be done with it.  You can still get a very good college back in round 2 if necessary that will be cheap for his rookie deal.

Sicko's^^  If your here trying to defend MG's, over the top re-actions? get your dawgcheck, mental health check-up Today.. Un-defend-able :excl:

Heard on NFL radio yesterday, The NFLPA only appealed the suspension due to the wording of the players contract..

Suspended "Indefinite" is not a wording that can be used for a 'on the field' action suspension

Amount of suspended 'Games' should be the wording used

former TB player Derrick Brooks should be hearing the appeal..

It's not about defending Garrett.  Many of us are simply pointing out that there were several events that unfolded throughout that play.  Garrett was in the wrong but so was Rudolph.  Garrett is being treated as if just decided out of the blue to tear Rudolph's helmet off and hit him with it.  I think the remainder of the season is reasonable and Garrett was wrong in his actions.

Most everyone in the tavern acknowledged he should be out the rest of the season.  It wasn't until after multiple views showing what rudolph did that people started to change their tune. I haven't. i still say he should be out the remainder of the year, but saying Rudolph should also be suspended for what he did isn't excusing Garrett or condoning his behavior.

+1000 percent.  I don't know why this is so hard for everyone to grasp.

Partially because established and winning head coaches might just possibly have another job already?

Plus it's usually a sucker's bet to think that picking an apple off a winning coaches tree, like Belichick, doesn't often work out. Like hiring Bill Wyman to play bass and wondering why your band isn't as good as the Rolling Stones.

Adam gase? Bruce Arians? Just for the record if we were not worried that Freddie would have gone elsewhere I'd have liked to see him stay at OC and keep Gregg Williams as head coach.

    WSS

Mike McCarthy would've been a nice name to hear.  Josh Mcdaniel would be a nice get.  Or how about that Browns assistant that fans booed and claimed sucked, you know the guy who's undefeated in the Bay area.  No one expects John Harbaugh to jump at the chance of coaching the Browns but Matt Patricia seems more competent than a guy who was only an offensive coordinator for 8 games at any level, ever.

We had the ball with two minutes left, a couple time outs, Baker throws a pass that butter fingers has hit him in the hands, and it turns into  a gimme interception- game over. Get out of here with the weak shit that's somehow Baker's fault that his receivers are doing Braylon Edwards imitations.

If the ball was in front of him, as it should be, he goes for 15.  Yes it was a catchable ball but it was behind him, you did watch it correct?

Yet today Mahomes throws a bomb into tight double coverage, and gets away with pure luck. Face it, the Browns were extremely  unlucky today. Catchable balls that became interceptions, and drive sustaining penalties against the Browns, and one crappy call against Landry that were drive killers.

That bomb was due to an offside call ala Aaron Rodgers.  Calls were bad but they scored 20 points in one quarter and 8 points in 3 quarters.  This is the same story, 2-4, going to be 2-5.  Maybe they get lucky on the back end of the schedule and get to 7-9, yay
