Look man, this will be my last post cause I dominated the game thread, but I don’t want to make it seem like I was after you personally.

my point For several years now has been and continues to be the NFL has a serious referee problem, and they know it. As I noted, I guarantee we will get the “im sorry” email that they missed a blatant hold which directly led to a Titans TD. In a game like football, that matters so, so much. The team earned 10-11 calls today and were extremely undisciplined. But that shouldn’t, in any manner, negate an objectively miserable call which mattered so much in the flow of this game.

Again, this isn’t a “the refs are against the browns” thing. But this league has by far the worst reffing issue across major sports and it’s not even close.

That being said, they earned the L big time. All you can hope is this lights a bonfire under the asses of these dudes.

I gotcha.  I thought the 1st drive personal foul call on Robinson was the worst of the game but they scored so it was soon forgotten.  NFL refs are bad across the board and that is why more and more calls are reviewable.  We all want nothing more to finally root for a team worth a damn.  Have a good rest of your Sunday

    Major needs...

    • Discipline
    • Discipline
    • Discipline
    • Humility
    • Discipline
    • Time
    • Discipline

This week will be a major test for Kitch

And it's not just the penalties... it's also the assignments. Prime example was Kirksey biting on the play fake on Walker's first TD. He left his "zone" to support a run that was well contained... if it had been a run. Walker nicely filled the empty space he left behind.

On an early sack by Wake... he had inside help from the RG... yet allowed himself to be beaten outside... simply can't happen.

    Screen D...

More later... including "the good" I saw... which may mean it's a very short post.

Agree on all of this but not sure you can teach discipline or humility.  Always thought those character traits are intrinsic

  3. As President of the Negativity Brigade I agree the sky is not falling but there are glaring issues that we saw last year and in previous years.

Baker holds the ball too long and makes poor decisions with his feet.  You can live with bad throws because all QBs make them.  With inconsistent OL play, which I don't think will change given the personnel, Baker's internal clock and decision making have to be on point.

The offensive line is down one very good player from last years group and Robinson is one of the biggest question marks at LT in the league.  Robinson's consistency is a concern and then he kicks someone because he got owned, bad look.

Siebert may turn out to be a solid kicker but his senior season at OU he wasn't great and he has shown nerves in the past, fingers crossed.

My biggest concern is the secondary.  Getting teams behind the chains is a real possibility for the defensive front but that doesn't do much if the secondary gives up big plays and penalties.

The final concern is Kitchens.  With no head coaching experience and his "players' coach" mentality it goes one of two ways, very successful or dumpster fire.

I agree with his presser that the world isn't over but the "it's one game and we're going to fix it" schtick that coach's use is less believable when you just got ran in your house as a 5.5 favorite.  If you think this is simply one loss, you're kidding yourself.

From the stadium. Refs 160, Browns 25.  You can't tell me the Titans were playing that error free. Many crappy calls, all against the Browns. They gifted the Titans one td was it 5 penalties in a row?

There were some missed calls, yes JRB I admit it, but I think the stadium looks deceived a bit.  The Landry trip comes to mind, on the replay he simply stubbed his toe on the way out of bounds.  The calls weren't great but the play was terrible

Somewhere in the US, Colin Cowherd is furiously pulling his pud while watching this game.

Baker is an easy target because he likes the sound of his own voice.  You can run your mouth when you win but those QBs, with the exception of Rodgers typically don't.  Brady, Brees, Dak, Wilson, Wentz, etc. don't yap.

Game over, sadly. All that amazing positive energy...just gone. This is about as sad as I've ever been after a game. All the positive vibes, all the talking heads, all the bullcrap we've heard for so many months. None of it came to fruition. I don't have the energy to make a well-thought out post, and I'm not going to make an overreaction statement, but this is about as sad as I have felt watching this team in a long time, and that's saying something. All of our fears came true. Our OL being terrible, Baker not having time, tight ends killing us...it's all there. What about this dominant defensive line we had? I didn't see ANYTHING like that. Ah, whatever. I don't have the capacity to write anything, and nobody wants to read it anyway. The only good thing is I didn't make an ass out of myself, so that's nice.

Sorry everyone. I know this really hurts.

D Line was good as were the LBers.  Secondary stinks as it has for the past 10 years.  Baker is great and terrible in the same game but that's Baker.  Most diehard fans were nervous about the O Line and the ejection and injury didn't help today.  I am most disappointed in the institutional lack of discipline and the terrible play calling after the first drive.

  7. Baker's offseason comments will fuel the discussion of his 3 INT lackluster performance.  As a Sooner fan the Baker relationship was love/hate in part because of his antics. Just show up and play football.  I know many Browns fans think he's "keeping' it real" but he comments on stuff that don't do him, the team or the organization and help.  I hope he grows as a person and a player but I hoped for that when he was at Oklahoma.

I can tell you without hesitation if the flags were the other way around I’d be saying “ I’m not against it, but they are getting screwed”. Believe it or not, I watch that part of the game very even level.

3 flags now to 14. The browns have absolutely deserved 8-9 and made several bad, stupid penalties. But when the head of refs for over 2 years says on national television, “I’m not sure how they missed that hold” on literally the most pivotal point in the game, there’s a ref problem. That dude will protect his ilk if at all possible.

So that excuses a missed holding call they’d teach a high school ref to call? Right.

It doesn't excuse it but it's our reality.  This team is a bunch of prima dona pussies that haven't won shit.  The Browns of the 80s that I loved were hard-nosed bad asses that gave all they had all the time.  I get this is the modern NFL and that has waned a bit but these excuse making punks that celebrate the mundane and play like shit half the time isn't football.  Blaming the refs for this game is just another excuse for guys who don't execute.

Which is why i said they deserved several, not hard to read my comment. But if you’re looking at that titan touchdown and as a fan of football looking at this going “hmm” you’re just being naive.

if the flags were the other way around I’d be saying the same thing. Gene after the review said and I quote. “Well regardless of that pretty apparent hold that can’t  be reviewed”. What more do you want man?

I'd like more than one defender to have a shot at a tackle on a fucking screen

So bacon let me guess, that wasn’t a textbook arm bar hold that directly resulted in a touchdown for the Titans right? And you’re just so sure that wouldn’t have been called against us today right?

    pathetic.

Holding calls and PI calls are bad for both sides of the ball most games.  Randall got there early and if it happened to OBJ we'd want the call.  We've thrown a punch, kicked a dude, hit the QB after the throw that everyone saw, etc.  Only rose colored glasses would suggest the refs are costing us the game.

Nah man, fuck that line of thinking. The refs stalled two strong drives on one terrible call and one mediocre at best call. This line of thinking allows the problem of nfl refs to perpetuate. They deserved several today, but it shouldn’t 3 yellows to 11. No way.

im not a guy who says they’re against the browns. But statistically refs have been a unbelievably bad issue for several years.

We just watched a browns player get dragged to the ground in the end zone 5 feet away from the ref, and the browns got 2 flags against them.

Are you sure?  Landry stubbed his toe going out of bounds and you wanted a flag, just saying.

    Trump isn’t a polished career politician, he’s a businessman.

God forbid we have an actual leader willing to call out the Chinese on their bullshit trade policies.

It takes someone with a set of balls to do that.

    Obama had balls...Michelle Obama.

Love this post, stay classy Cleveland.  Explains why Lebron couldn't get out fast enough...twice

But for anybody all worked up about this, without looking at some left-wing website, in your own words which particular lies do you think have been the most destructive to American society?

    WSS

His constant apologizing for Kim.  If he believes the nonsense he says he should be removed from office.  If he doesn't believe then....that too is a lie.

The reception he received in Britain is a perfect example of what a first world nation believes our leader is...and it's sad.

Policies aside he is the least Presidential president in history and the sad commentary is many americans are supportive of that.  While I don't think you need to be as buttoned up as Obama, Bush Sr, Cater, etc. but it wouldn't surprise me if he showed up at the UN wearing a shirt with a big ketchup stain on it.
