  1. A lot of iffs there tia... that would be way cool should the Browns host a playoff game in like forever. Not exactly, the Steelers would have to lose to the Bengals once, and\ or the Browns have a better record than the Steelers. Otherwise, we both end up at 4-2 in the Division, then it gets complicated. Don't get me started on the complexity of a three way tie with the same records.
  2. Count not your chickens before they hatch mjp.... However, as of today the Browns are in the pole position in the wildcard race at 7-3... Why I was harping that the Steelers game was critical. Browns (only) need to go 3-4 to get to 10 wins. (4-3 and we're in, take it to the bank) Two other teams sit at 6-4, Steelers & Texans, meaning they have to go 4-3 to get to 10. There's a bunch of clubs sitting at 5-5, but they'll all need to go 5-2.... It scares me a little with the upcoming game in Denver. Historically we've played like crap against the Donkeys, plus (see above) they're going to be fighting for their playoff lives. They can ill afford more than a couple losses to have any chance at playoff land. PS- that was more lousy scheduling (thanks for nothing NFL) putting that game on Thanksgiving weekend- to screw up my bucket list adventure. Worst travel day of the year. EDIT to my betting fan... Browns open as 1.5 point dogs to the Broncos.
  3. As I thought... No passes over 15 yards.... Gee Kev, couldn't you have lobbed one at least once deep to give the Steelers MASH unit secondary something to think about?
  4. He played BAD? I see the guys over on NFL.com agree with me about Stefanski's overly conservative er, shit coaching that damn near cost the Browns the game... ahem... "Cleveland took a 10-0 lead into halftime, watched Jaylen Warren reduce it to 10-7, then seemingly concluded a three-point advantage would be enough to win. Was that ultimately the final margin of victory? Yes, but the fashion in which Kevin Stefanski approached the third quarter left them vulnerable to a heartbreaking defeat. Stefanski was understandably trying to make life easier for his rookie quarterback and limit risk, but by the middle of the third quarter, Pittsburgh had realized his plan, effectively denying Thompson-Robinson anything underneath, stuffing the run and daring the Browns to take a shot downfield. It was a shame, truly, because Cleveland's defense repeatedly denied Kenny Pickett and the Steelers' offense an opportunity to move the ball, and gave the Browns' offense prime field position on multiple occasions. Yet, Stefanski's conservative approach wasted those possessions, giving the Steelers additional opportunities to tie the game and potentially take the lead. Luckily for Stefanski, the Browns' elite defense shut down the Steelers' last remaining chance to win, and Thompson-Robinson authored a great final drive. But for most of the second half, Mike Tomlin won the coaching battle and nearly won the game because of it. Against better teams, that type of approach could doom the Browns." PS- If you think Joe Flackoff is going to be some kind of savior bb.... I give you his career stats. One of the guys at our Sunday Browns\any other team party is a serious Jets fan.... His take... There's a reason why the Jets didn't want him back after Rodgers went down... Because 2022 in particular, and career wise in general- he's been pretty mediocre to downright bad. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FlacJo00.htm PPS- we're riding the DTR horse until he starts losing games, until just like Walker Texas Ranger proves he can suck with the best of them. FWIW, I said it in another thread. 7-3 and the Browns are in decent shape to make the playoffs. If you have Browns Super Bowl dreams dancing in your head they're not realistic. Not with Watson and Chubb out for the year. 3-4 should punch our ticket to the playoffs though- and that certainly is a realistic expectation.
  5. Sorry, it was TOO vanilla... On several drop backs, DTR had plenty of time to lob one over the top. The stinking Squealers were sitting on the short routes, daring Dorian to beat them over the top, and Kev was too pussified to try it even ONCE. My only complaint. Good thing we won, or Kev would never have heard the end of it from the boo birds.
  6. For those banging on DTR- how many catchable balls did his receivers drop? I'll stand by my original comments Stefanski was scared shitless about DTR messing up and called the worst "prevent victory" game plan I've seen in a long time. He might as well have told the Steelers what plays he was going to call... Run up the middle, and dink and dunk.
  7. See below, I can... Steeler defense Sunday in a nutshell... Allow me to quote a Ghoolieism.... CLASSIC MARTY TURTLE BALL.... HEY, SHITPANSKI, WHY DIDN'T YOU TRY AT LEAST ONE LONG BOMB TO KEEP THE STEELERS (DECIMATED SECONDARY) DEFENSE FROM SITTING ON THOSE DINK AND DUNK ROUTES THAT YOU WERE CALLING ALL DAY? HMMM? YOU'RE LUCKY AS HELL NONE OF THOSE OUT ROUTES DIDN'T TURN INTO A GAME KILLING PICK SIX. Yeah, I'm way glad we won, but that was shitty play calling MHO. 🤬 LOL, I hope no one took you up on that bet. Four for four on the game winner.
  8. It isn't exactly Rocket Science why Stef is going with DTR. Walker, Texas Ranger.. 1 touchdown, 5 interceptions, QBR 51. But LOL, he's got experience... Experience at sucking and throwing inaccurate passes 1\2 the time. (49% completion rate) . . DTR a 5th round pick. I'll let you look up where Brock Purdy got drafted.
  9. Not it at all D Bone- it's solely about $$$. See below... He's the insurance policy in case DTR still isn't ready for prime time. For those who haven't heard, the Bengals backup to their backup is AJ McCarron. JF just might want to see if there's going to be a bidding war for his services. Mr. Flackoff isn't going to sniff anywhere near starting QB money for being a 7 game rent-a-QB. And MHO is unless DTR totally flops, Flacco wouldn't be asked to start. Nice gig if you can get it, around $3 million to carry a clipboard. Sure beats sitting at home watching NFL's Greatest Moments on the 'tube.
  10. I just came to the realization the OSU- Michigan game is in Ann Arbor this year. FWIW, I visited The Big House when the NHL staged the Winter Classic there one year. The place is a dump, and good luck trying to find parking.
  11. Well, Mr. Mellon, I expect the Browns to win also. But whenever I get a strong feeling about a Browns game one way or the other, I'm usually dead wrong. Now regarding your Steelers, I agree they're doing it with smoke and mirrors- and turnovers at exactly the right time. Watson throwing a pick six on the first play is a good example, as well as last week Love tossing an ill advised pass into the end zone for an interception when they were driving for the winning score. As to our Browns, I commend Stefanski for starting DTR over PJ Walker- who is one inaccurate, 1 td to 5 interceptions gawdawful qb. Tries hard, but what would you expect from an XFL practice squad quarterback? Dorian had a horrendous game against the Ravens, but he had 2 hours to get ready for that game after running the scout team all week. He was impressive enough in preseason to convince Andrew Berry that Josh Dobbs was expendable. The good news on our side is Dawand Jones says he's healthy enough to play RT, he's on an upswing getting tutelage from the best OL coach in the business Callahan. We certainly won't miss not seeing Minkah Fitzpatrick out there either. So, from my POV the outcome is pretty clear... The team that wins the turnover battle will come out on top. PS- even should the Steelers lose, they're far from out of it making the playoffs. You still have two games on tap against the Bengals, minus Joe Burrow. For any of us MHO the division is out of reach, short of Lamar Jackson breaking his leg.
  12. And as bb pointed out to me- after the trade deadline passes any player who's released has to go through waivers.
  13. Guy like Flacco would probably work for prorated vet minimum Tom. 😉 Mansion? Have any of you ever seen his floating mansion? Yacht. Not in Oprah or Jeff Bezos' league. A mere $6 million.
  14. Ditto.. I knew it was him because he was in town for a book signing. Dave Thomas, yeah that Dave Thomas who founded Wendy's. Limo? Hell no, regular car that he was driving himself. 😉
  15. Dat here makes it official... https://www.nfl.com/news/bengals-qb-joe-burrow-has-torn-wrist-ligament-to-miss-remainder-of-2023-season
  16. Welcome to the shitty luck corner Bengals. 😉 From Al's NY Post article.. Initially I thought "consider the source".... But if you've ever had a severe ankle sprain (I have) transpose what the the palm of Joe's hand looks like to your foot...
  17. Remains to be seen how serious Burrow's injury is.... Cincinnati is fortunate they're now on their mini bye, 10 days to get ready for the Steelers. That's looking like a must win for the Bengals. A loss puts them at 5-6, and 0-4 in the division. They need to go at least 4-3 in their remaining games to have any chance at the playoffs as a wild card. The division crown ship has sailed..
  18. Watched it all nickers... Bungles have to be seriously concerned about the status of Joe Burrow. If you saw the sideline shot where he tried to throw the ball, it landed 5 feet in front of him, and he was in obvious pain. Early report is it's a sprained wrist on his throwing hand.
  19. I watched a lot of the Steelers- Green Bay game. Fortunate turnovers- they got outplayed. Same story the week before that against the Titans.... How to beat the Steelers Sunday? Don't turn the ball over.
  20. From a Browns POV, that's the best outcome. Bungles will want it more than the Ratbirds....
  21. Well, I suppose so bb.... But in reality, Tannehill isn't going to get released. That little detail pre and post trading deadline. My bad.

    DTR

Browns game plan against the Steelers isn't rocket science.... We're going to run, run, and run some more. Pass only when necessary. Of course the Steelers will be expecting that. So watch Stef try to pass them silly.

    DTR

My suggestion to get DTR ready for TJ Watt.... Let Myles take a few high speed runs at him in practice, minus the hit.... I doubt Watt is any faster. 😉
  24. Hate to tell you, nope... Do your research if you don't believe me.
  25. Not so Jiggins... I had to double check. waivers only apply to players with less than 4 years in the league. Tannehill has 11 years in the league which makes him a vested veteran... The rules are different. Players with at least four accrued NFL seasons of service time are released. They're vested veterans. When a player gets released, it's the end of his contract. He becomes free to sign with any other team. Yeah, those dreaming of getting Tom Brady... He's not currently under contract, just like Foles and Flacco.
