  1. "May the Schwartz be with us." Sure, who wouldn't want to be an NFL head coach Jim, along with a big pay raise? But sheeze Louise, based on your track record (Bills, Eagles) and now with the Browns, you could go down in NFL history as one of the greatest defensive coordinators of all time right along with Dick LeBeau. Who incidentally stunk as a head coach- just like your gig with the Lions turned out. 🙄
  2. See below. Take a look at the Ravens RB depth chart... FWIW, they're 26th in rushing yardage (2555). And of that total, 821 of that belongs to Lamar Jackson. With Dobbins out for the year, they're hurting at RB. Oh, you want a crazy stat? Jackson has more rushing yards than our Jerome Ford. LJ has been remarkably adept at avoiding a kill shot to his knees, but unless he's damn lucky, it's coming- eventually- running like that.

Oh, I'd be a travellin' man. A month in Tahiti for starters. What worries me BB, is should the Jags lose, that creates the possibility for the stinking Squealers to backdoor into the playoffs. 🤬 Of course they have to beat the Ravens first... Then their direct path is a Bills loss. Buffalo wins at Miami and they're done, short of the Colts and Texans tieing.
  4. My POV... The answers are no and no. We're not demoting any of our guys... Ford, Hunt, or Strong for a guy just a lookin' for a home whose production nose dived. Cook's 3.2 ypc is marginally better than Hunt's 3.0. but I doubt Berry is interested in bringing in a marginal talent for negligible improvement on the roster. We're NOT cutting Hunt (who knows the playbook and is a terror on short yardage) for a guy off the street. Really, this Cook love is almost as bad as some guys thinking we should give the (now pretty washed up) Jarvis Landry a ring. 🙄

Yeah, Joe doesn't seem to be the type that needs a $50 million house, a million dollar boat, and ten high end cars. 😉 FWIW, easy enough to research... His place in Delaware is worth around $2 million.
  6. And in some encouraging Browns news (depends on your POV) they released our Haack punter off of the practice squad today- we hardly knew ye... Must mean they're confident Cory is good to go on Sunday.
  7. Then the question is.. Why couldn't Cook beat out Breece Hall for the #1 RB spot? I'm not buying the Jets were so dumb to essentially bench Cook out of spite. FWIW, Hall is averaging a full YPC more than Dalvin behind the same OL. This could be a similar situation (diminished skills falling off of a cliff) as our Kareem Hunt, who was sitting by the phone until the Browns sent out the Bat Signal when Chubb blew out his knee.
  8. Bengals website... "Try to win this game by any means necessary"... Great- play all your starters just to say you had a winning record in an otherwise meaningless game? And in the process maybe follow the Dolphins cue (Bradley Chubb) and lose Chase Young (or someone similar) to a blown ACL... I'm sorry to report- (from a Browns perspective) winning that game isn't going to screw up the Bengals 2024 draft position much... They're right there sitting just above the teams that are going to be in the playoffs. FWIW, the long range Cinci forecast is 1-3 inches of snow Saturday night, with a high around 40 and occasional snow showers during the game...

Yep, Garrett, and all the guys who are nursing injuries and playing hurt take a seat on the sidelines. Cooper, Njoku, Moore on offense, probably a few of the OL too. Bitonio is banged up. Players on the defensive side, hard to tell how many will sit. (besides Garrett) Ward for sure though. Will Joe want to play a series or two is the question.
  10. His stats this year are in a word... LOUSY... MHO he's no upgrade over Strong or Hunt. Last year is last year... Ya know, Kareem led the league in rushing a few years back...

Yes, except (as we know) this isn't locked in YET... Totally possible that the Bills beat Miami to take the #2 seed... that sends the Dolphins to play KC, and the way the Chiefs are playing lately, could easily win there. The bad thing is with the Bills at #2, I don't see the Colts or Texans beating them. Oh, and for the Steelers to make the playoffs. fat chance of a Colts- Texans tie. One game at a time though. Not surprised that Pittsburg is favored against the resting Ravens, but I am pretty shocked that Vegas has the Browns as 6 point underdogs against the Bengals.
  12. What we found out is the Dull-phans (usually) can't beat their way out of a paper bag when they play a decent team.. Bungles gotta Bungle, and surprised the Squealers managed to win on the left coast.

Calling Walker, Texas Ranger? True, but it means a lot to other teams... the Fog has cleared.... The Browns (should both they and the 'Fins lose) Browns get the #5 over Miami based on better conference record... 8-4 to 7-5... And FWIW, Cleveland is pretty much locked into playing the AFCS winner in the playoffs. The opponent TBD. I'm not about to look into 4th level tiebreakers should the Jags lose to the Panthers, the Colts beat the Texans, or the Chiefs manage to lose to the Chargers. Those Bills had better win, or they're SOL.... A loss puts them at 6-6 in the AFC and 10-7... Even with losses Cleveland and Miami can finish no worse than 11-6. The Jags, Colts, Texans, and Steelers could all finish at 10- 7. Not exactly, as the loser of the Colts -Texans is eliminated at 9-8. All of the previous in that scenario with a win would kick Buffalo to the curb with a better conference record than 6-6. 😉 EDIT: Call me not surprised at all- the Week 18 Schedule is out... Steelers- Ravens and Colts Texans Saturday, and for the grand finale to the regular season Buffalo- Miami SNF....

After the dust has settled.. at least in the AFC after week 17... Browns locked into #5.... Bungles eliminated, Browns fans in SW Ohio celebrate.... Steelers still have a mathematical chance, but must beat the Ravens first. It involves a lot of other losses or ties... Bills are the #2 with a win or could get to go home with a loss... Dolphins fall to #6 if they lose to the Bills... (don't ask me how) Jags are in with a win (own tiebreakers over the Colts and Texans) and they play the lowly Panthers next Sunday too.. Texans- Colts (in Indy) is essentially a playoff game. Winner is in, loser goes home.
  15. We'll never know that Tom... Did you even watch the game? Just asking... But what I DO know is Campbell disdained TWO chip shot field goals, Went for it on 4th down with four to go several times instead of punting, fucked that up and gave the Cowboys excellent field position. In a defensive game... DUH pal- FIELD POSITION MATTERS. And if he had those extra six points in hand, he could have kicked the winning field goal instead of praying his two point conversion (from more than the two yard line) was the ticket to a win. Dallas had been stuffing them on short yardage most of the time all game.. Just as likely as losing in OT in a tie game, FWIW. The guy is approaching brain dead. All I can say I'm glad as hell he's not coaching the Browns.
  16. Agreed on Schwartz as assistant of the year. Well, wasn't aware- but after seeing the SNF game Hopkins is going to lose out to the Cowboys Aubrey. He hasn't missed a FG all year, and has a long of 60. Don't know when they hand out the Comeback player of the year award, but should Flacco beat dem Bungles, he has to be in serious consideration. However, should it turn out that after this Sunday, we're locked into the #5 seed, I don't even want the Browns to let Joe see the field.
  17. Campbell, you're a dumb ass. You cost the Lions that game... There's a difference between being aggressive and being stoopid. Great, you burned the 'Boys on that fake punt. Then you shit the bed multiple times playing anal-itics Going for it on for it on fourth and hardly makeable several times. Kick the first chip shot FG on 4th and goal from the four yard line in the first half. Then for the love of GOD, when you get dinged for an unreported tackle eligible extra point with seconds left in the game, please just kick it and take the game into overtime. I can guarantee you if Stefanski had pulled this shit instead, we'd all want him to be fired immediately. FACT
  18. Not nearly annoying as the guys who hung around to get facetime on the TNF postgame talk. Just repeatedly scream HERE WE GO BROWNIES HERE WE GO!!! You're not impressing the national audience that wants to hear what the people who get paid to comment have to say. Take your screen shot and frame it boogers... It was so long after the game was over, I'm 1\2 surprised security didn't ask them to leave the premises.

Well, for all the bitching about a late season TNF game, it really came at a great time to have a mini-bye to (hopefully) get some of the wounded back in the game with the extra days off. For the Bengals, Cooper should be available. He even tried running routes before the Jets game, and felt he wasn't 100%. Let's hope Moore's concussion isn't too serious- I read that he had a seizure from that faceplant, and spent the night in the hospital . Stef says he's home and doing ok. Walker might need to wait until the playoffs after that 'scope on his knee. Hopefully same goes for Delpit after that groin injury. Still waiting for the elusive Thornhill to finally get healthy too. Sounds like Bojorquez may be healthy enough to play against the Bengals, BTW, besides punting he's also the holder on field goal tries. Which brings us to Dustin Hopkins- who's way more iffy for the Bengals game (the hamstring pull is on his plant leg, not kicking leg)... If not, at least Riley Patterson looks average in the mean time.
  20. Me too- been there many times, as my wife is from the Toledo area (Sylvania). It's actually amusing walking around the original place on Front Street and perusing the hundreds of autographed hot dog buns on the walls.. From presidents (Obama), musicians (Ted Nugent), to movie stars (Burt Reynolds). The hot dogs are just OK, ditto the roast beef sandwich drowned in gravy. But their chili is a damnsite better than Skyline's. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention another food place with famous autographs plastered on the walls. Arthur Bryant's ribs in Kansas City. A virtual hole in the wall joint.. The original, not the new place near Arrowhead.
  21. Nope, regarding AFCS- Lawrence is out against the woeful Panthers, and they have won a couple games this season. Yeah the Chiefs are on the skids, but I don't see them losing to the Bengals Sunday... I did see that the Bengals would make the playoffs if they win out... Don't see that happening... If the Browns and Bills end up with the same record, the Browns get the nod because of better Conference record. The more confusing scenario is if Miami loses twice, and we lose to the Bengals, both teams at 11-6... Somehow Cleveland would still get the #5 seed. That could well happen. I think you could get 1,000:1 odds of that in Vegas. Said it elsewhere. I'll let you play with a playoff simulator, but It would involve the Bills falling to the #7 seed and knocking off the #2 and #1 seeds. Of course the Browns would have to beat the #4, and then #3 (or #6). Not impossible that the Browns and Bills could play one another in the second round though. I agree with BB, dumping chili on top of a pile of spaghetti may be original, but I consider the stuff garbage. It's a local thing, just like Tony Packo's hot dogs are an item in Toledo. It took me years to figure out what the draw was there...
  22. East 4th is a neat place to party... We'll be heading Downton soon- tailgating in the vicinity of East 12th and Lakeside.
  23. LOL, I'm here in Independence Ohio wasting away in Chardonnay a ville .. Looking for my lost glass of wine... But seriously folks... More like waiting for the rain to clear up... So we can head downtown and tailgate... The forecast depends on who you want to believe. Weather.com says rain ending by game time... Accuweather isn't as optimistic with occasional scattered showers... Low 40s with light wind out the SW doesn't sound too hateful. Don't screw this up Browns... No turnovers should equal a win.
  24. Thinking about it, that's true. The Bills are the only other AFC wildcard team that could finish 11-6. For kicks and giggles, let's assume for a minute that the Browns and a gaggle of other teams finish 10-7.... Ah, it's too complicated to figure out... Only obvious loser is the Bengals with their 1-5 division record. Browns will have head to head tiebreakers over the Texans, Colts, and Jaguars. Somehow the Steelers would lose out even though they would have a better division record 5-1 as opposed to the Browns 3-3... To have any realistic chance, they have to win out. Theoretically, they could still get into the playoffs with a 9-8 record, but it involves a sky high combination of other team losses. BTW, the Bills could win the Division by beating the Patriots and 1) the Ravens beat the Dolphins this Sunday, and 2) the Bills beat them week 18.
