  1. FWIW, whatever Kraft has to pay Bill for next year's contract (a reported $25 million) that's peanuts to a billionaire. Vrabel is the obvious choice. Proven commodity, played for the Patriots under Bill. But if Kraft wants another Lombardi before he croaks, I agree with what NFLN just said. The Patriots are in for a rebuild, not something a coach can instantly fix. Even if they manage to land another C J Stroud with their #3 pick, anyone see the Texans as Super Bowl winners this year? It is the end of an era... Checking... Sean McVay was five years old when Bill became the head coach of the Browns.
  2. Having the best players helps. But in the memorable words of Bum Philips regarding Don Shula... "First, he'll take his 'uns- and beat your 'uns... Then he'll take your 'uns and beat his 'uns." Even though he's a certain first ballot HOFer, doesn't sound like Bill is retired from coaching yet. FWIW, He needs 17 more wins to pass George Halas, and 27 more to pass Don Shula to top the all-time list.
  3. But I believe they (the Steelers) did pick up our own Mentor High School Mitch Trubisky as a free agent. He's probably played himself off of their roster, as he only has a $4 million cap hit next year.
  4. That's correct bb.... Checking his contract on Spotrac, we're basically stuck with him for the 2024 and 2025 seasons his dead cap hit is prohibitive. In 2026, it would only cost us $73 million to cut him. Of course I'd love to bring back Joe as a security blanket if Watson gets hurt again, but would he be interested in being DW's backup? Should the Browns make a deep playoff run he's going to be (ala Aaron Rodgers) one blazing hot free agent QB for a team thinking they're only a QB away from a Super Bowl win.
  5. For those who don't live in NE Ohio, and aren't aware of this guys many billboards. Mizny is a personal injury lawyer, and his Billboards usually say "Mizny Makes Them Pay". 😉
  6. Add another one to the list, surprising- since he recently said he was going to continue to coach... Pete Carroll of the Seahawks is resigning\ being promoted to the front office.
  7. On the injury front... The good news is- Browns are activating Grant Delpit off of IR... And in WTF news- Juan Thornhill still didn't practice yesterday... He's been nursing that calf injury since week 10. 🙄
  8. The Commanders were indeed a hot mess, but let's not forget they officially went into tank mode trading away Sweat and Young... 🙄 I don't get it either bb... MHO is Vrabel is one of the better head coaches around, and he won't be unemployed for long... Or there was internal bickering between Vrabel and the GM... I want "my guy" as a HC.. Seems like the owner thinks he can pull another Chuck Noll\ Bill Cowher\ Mike Tomlin out of a hat.. If they wind up with another Hue Jackson instead, it will serve them right....
  9. This high roller won't put more than $10 bucks on anything. 15 years ago when I was in Vegas for a convention I bought my coworkers $5 buck tickets at Harrah's on the Bengals winning the Super Bowl.
  10. Yeah and you lucky SOBs backdoor into the playoffs when the Jaguars did a complete collapse. Going on a one win five loss losing streak. I saw you're getting 10 from Vegas against the Bills. BTW, Trevor Lawrence did his best Baker Mayfield imitation trying to play hurt against the Titans... His accuracy was shot that game, I'm sure you enjoyed every minute of it....
  11. I think me and Orion are the Astro geeks. Been doing it since I was six years old. To go off topic, the farthest south I've been is 11 North in Curacao for the 1997 total solar eclipse. From there you can see most of the southern sky stuff of interest. Crosby, Stills, Nash... When you see the Southern Cross for the first time... Well, let me tell you it's sort of teeny... Take the distance between the pointer stars of our Big dipper, and (a little brighter) that gives you an idea of it's size. PS- theoretically, you can see the Southern Cross from the Florida Keys, but during the week I was there for the Winter Star Party, it was always lost in haze above the Gulf of Mexico.
  12. Yep, it's eventual that the Browns number will come up for another out of county road trip. I agree- probably this year. Three in England, one in Germany, and one in Brazil? LOL is Japan or Australia next? I guess you could sign me up for Brazil, not just for the football, but to knock off one of my astronomy bucket list items on the side. To get south of the equator to see the sky flipped upside down. The North Star is forever below the horizon there. 😉 PS there isn't a "South Star"...
  13. A little FYI for those of you who didn't know that much about Tom.... He was quite the traveler, visited all 50 states, and had been to EVERY National Park in the country, probably not many people could say that... Some things I do remember about that trip. Tom was an antique aficionado. The home of American Pickers is in Nashville, so Tom insisted we go and check out the store. From my POV, I'd about rather have a root canal than spend any time in an antique store. When we got there about 10AM the wait to get in was already a city block+ long, so I told them hey screw this, I'm shopping elsewhere- stand in line and one of you come and get me when you get near the door. There conveniently was a wine bar a few doors down, so I spent early morning happy hour (and it was almost an hour) before we were able to get in and view the junk collection. 😉 The Tailgate was memorable with the Middle Tennessee Browns Backers because who was there- to shake hands and take selfies with, none other than Jimmy Haslam. I knocked the Titans off of my bucket list to see the Browns play in every NFL stadium, but since then covid (Dallas), and lousy scheduling- Thanksgiving (Denver), New Years (Washington) screwed that up. There's a bunch of Browns road trips this year that are REALLY interesting though, outside of the usual AFCN. Broncos, Commanders, Eagles, Jaguars, Raiders, Saints. One of my alternate family is a Raiders fan, so a trip to Vegas could be relatively cheap and interesting.
  14. Don't get me started on another screw NBC and Peacock rant mjp. I've been to a couple Browns games at NRG Stadium- there's a bunch of hotels within walking distance, and the area there by my recollection is pretty safe. Yeah, upper level seats will get you into the game for around $165 dollars (that's including the Ticketmaster 10% extortion fee.)
  15. As to the above for sure Tex... Most of us are already spending more on that stuff than we're paying on our gas and electric bills. 🙄 Regarding Peacock getting the exclusive to the Chiefs- Dolphins Saturday night game... A lot of fans are pretty outraged over it. If you live in the KC or Miami area, it will be broadcast OTA. However, this one is pure greed on the part of the NFL, which accepted a $110 million bribe from NBC to have exclusive rights to the game. I hope their viewership rating for the game sucks, and the NFL discovers that they shouldn't try this stunt again in the future Of course, I'm not going to pay (I did a little research) NBC $5.99 to watch the game, and then immediately cancel afterwards. Unfortunately, us Browns fans are going to get stuck paying that sometime next year when we're forced having to do that. 🤬 Hopefully, the game will be on delay on NFLN.... Doing more research, Peacock's channel lineup is a big yawn. For those who have already ditched DirecTV and gone to Hulu or Fubo, it's a duplication of viewing. I guess the 28 million Peacock subscribers who are NFL fans will luck out and not have to pay extra to see the game. If you have unlimited $$$ I could easily see someone paying $500 bucks a month just on TV streaming services.
  16. Playoffs? Did you say PLAYOFFS? Praise the Lord, both the Browns and my alternate team the Lions both avoided the bullshit Peacock exclusive game Saturday night. Pure money grabbing crap by the NFL. How many alternate streaming services do the a-holes in the NFL think fans are going to sign up for? MNF ESPN... TNF Amazon (that one isn't too bad, as most folks already have Prime) then Sunday Ticket on YouTube (looks like from my POV they made a huge mistake shelling out billions for the exclusive) ... Now Peacock thinks that's the ticket to increased signups for their streaming service. Sorry Charlie. That's the harbinger of pay per view in the NFL... Had the Browns gotten shafted with a Peacock exclusive, I have a funny feeling tens of thousands Browns fans would have paid NBC the $7 buck one month subscription, and dropped them as soon as the game was over. Maybe I should start a survey from you guys how many streaming services you subscribe to? I'm at two- Paramount+ (Star Trek) and the wife has Netflix... This is getting ridiculous...
  17. Never been to Jacksonville for a game, but I have been down Houston way a couple of times... As I told our England Browns fan, if you're planning on going down (or over in your case) contact the Space City Browns Backers.... Tampa? nope, I got so disgusted after it hit (predictably) 21-0 not wanting to watch garbage football, I prevailed onto the TV control meister to pretty much switch over to the Jags- Titans game.... Only to watch them pathetically play themselves out of the playoffs. Lawrence was obviously playing hurt and his accuracy was way off. I had our game recorded, but I deleted it, not going to waste my time watching it... I even walked out to TV room #2 for a good stretch to catch the Lions game where real football was being played.
  18. I go way back, and the only comparison scrambling ability Lamar has is Fran Tarkenton.
  19. The thing about Lamar is when he came out of Louisville, the knock on him was he was a great running back who incindentally called himself a passer. He was flat out lousy regarding the latter his first few years in the league. He's since- IMHO- improved as a quarterback by orders of magnitude over the years. Regarding his running ability LJ is only 851 yards short of passing Michael Vick as the top running QB ever. (sort of surprised that Russell Wilson could pass Vick also)
  20. Yeah, I though about going too... But besides the ticket, not worth the $15 bucks in gas and probably $30 to park to watch an exhibition game in crummy weather. 🙄
  21. He deserves all the abuse he gets when he's talking out his ass....
  22. I've said it before many times, but it bears repeating here Flugs... If Clay had played for the Stinking Squealers, he would have been in the HOF decades ago. (courtesy of Myron Cope who tried to great as many of the Steel Curtain into the HOF as possible. ) I'm 1\2 surprised Frenchy Fuqua, Rocky Blier, and Bubby Brister never made it.
  23. I notice Ghoolie has been mighty quiet on the Myles subject of late. Garrett has been playing respectably the last few games mostly only having the use of one arm. The coming Sunday off for some R&R will do him a world of good when the playoffs start.
  24. MHO is if Hopkins hadn't come up lame, he might have gotten in... It's the way the Pro Bowl works.... It takes you longer to get in via name recognition and votes (JOK), and you hang around longer than you should based on reputation alone (Tucker). BTW, though it takes forever for kickers to get into the HOF, but I don't doubt Tucker will get in- eventually. It is what it is...
