I’ve gone over this with a friend recently.

So we keep our pick in 2022 And take Kenny Pickett?  What do you think?

Or we find a bridge in 2022 and take Anthony Richardson or Will Levis in 2023?  CJ Stroud would have been nice but it would have required 13/14 losses.

We can argue that we could have found a mid late round gem like Brock Purdy…I’m not a total homer let’s be honest we would have found Bailey Zappe or Sam Howell before that happened.

This is certainly not a roster void of talent - and crippled by the loss of draft capital 2/3 years from now who knows but that’s most of the NFL. And if you recall or most on here can recall we’ve had a young or youngish roster prior to the trade that was stocked full of draft picks - if there was a team that needed/could have made this trade it was the Browns

The Browns should have let baker Mayfield heal. Don't trot the dude out there that season with his body all fucked up even if he wanted to be on the field. You'd still have the guy you drafted and all that draft capital. I will forever say the Browns did not try to help baker. Haslam saw Watson come available and threw the bank at him. It will always be a stupid trade unless Watson starts walking on water because to this point it sure as hell seems like he's just cool with getting his money.

I'll miss our debate about the greatness that was one Kenny Pickett... 🤣

Oh yeah, remember during Najee's rookie year when I described him as a JAG who would never be able to even sniff Nick Chubb's jockstrap?

Najee Harris has run behind a patch work line his entire career. He's got one now. I still believe Pickett can be good but the steelers did him no favors with Matt Canada. Rooney kept that shit show around too long. Kenny didn't want to sit behind rudolph and then didn't want to compete with Wilson. Business is business. It's irrelevant to what i said about Watson. What Browns fan feels good about that Watson trade? And why?

  3. Hey fellas, hope all is well.

Is he wrong? Ten years is a bit much but take all that draft capital back and think about how different the Browns roster would be. Watson has definitely set you all back but I won't say it's ten years. I don't think that dude will ever be anywhere close to how he was in Houston. He never acts like he wants it. Goes through the motions.

It sure does.  It's a pretty cool way of doing it because proven veterans are easier to coach, teach and fit into the roles we need them at.  They're ready to go without growing pains as we saw last year.  I'm learning how good Berry is at this.

Outside of that absolutely terrible jeudy extension. I'm not trying to rain on any parades either. Unless he becomes a different wr that was a heinous overpay.

  5. Outside of the albatross contract the Watson situation is interesting. If they expect him to be ready why sign Winston, Huntley and still have DTR in the wings? That's a crowded room. Browns getting ready to give Watson the Wilson treatment?

Like, he's not had the production you'd want from a first rounder, but if he catches 50-65 balls at 14.5 yards a clip like he has, I think he's well worth the 5th and 6th rounders the Browns gave up for him.

But not worth that much guaranteed money. But hey, it's not my money and as long as Jimmy keeps paying all these big contracts that get converted into bonuses, apparently this can go on infinitely.

I'd like to see Cooper extended a few years.

It's a insane contract for jeudy who has been supremely inconsistent. Haslam needs a leash.

    whats up vag's.

What's your projected team draft needs this upcoming draft?

We watched Baltimore landing studs that fell into their laps last season. Your team picks, come just before the Browns get on the clock.  and Don't take our guy ! ;)

    Yo!

Center and wr are now probably the top two. Corner for sure at some point too. Steelers really like odunze.

I definitely get the impression that you are not a member of the Matt Canada Fanclub. 🤣

I don't think either Wilson or Fields is your long-term answer, but you definitely should be in a better position with your QBs over what you've been trotting out there the last two years.

Oh fuck if you followed me on twitter I must have tweeted out "fire Matt Canada to the moon" every single steeler game. He was horrific.

I think fields absolutely can be the answer. Im still surprised the bears gave up on the dude. They built absolutely nothing around him. Now they are resetting again. Whafs to say the same shit doesn't happen to Caleb Williams? Tomlin is the perfect coach for fields and we have the weapons. I guess we are gonna find out. 🤷‍♂️

yep sucks! not seeing the draft value these GM's are seeing either.

We saw Fields 9 sacks coming in as a rookie QB to Cleveland

    2 years later

We saw Fields almost steal a game in Cleveland, we had to have last season.

Meanwhile, a jackass donkey in Denver, pays Russ Wilson to play in the AFCN

It's going to be a wild AFCN division again !

Bloodbath division. Although I still think Watson sucks. Lol 😘😘

Are you ok with the Steelers having so many "running quarterbacks" on your roster now? 😉

Ha, as long as the team is winning it's fine by me. Everyone saw the maturation of lamar under a good coordinator. They lost of course but he became a supremely stout qb across the board with insane wheels. I don't know how much russ is gonna be running but I love that part of fields. We shall see. I'm just glad to be rid of Matt fucking Canada lol.

  11. 1 minute ago, Dutch Oven said:

I wonder what Russell Wilson thinks about this?

He's the starter and was told he's the starter. I think russ is just happy to be starting somewhere and understands he's not the long term option. Dude is weird but he's always seemed like a good leader, legit loves his teammates. I think he takes fields under his wing, especially if he wants to play in the league whether it's the starter or a good back up assuming fields ascends.

  12. 11 minutes ago, Dutch Oven said:

Well THIS is an intriguing development.

It had felt this could happen right after the steelers traded Pickett. Tomlin loves fields and there was always mutual interest there. The Steelers love their buckeyes. Couple people I respect said there was still mutual interest and then this happened. It's wild for me as a steeler fan in the best of ways. Getting him for a 6th is insane and it only becomes a 4th if he plays 51% of the snaps next season. Id have been over the moon for a 4th. Still no guarantees with either qb but this room makes me a lot happier than Pickett, mitch and Mason.

You're a Steelers fan, I can understand you having rose-colored glasses for your first round QB.

What's funny is the "Browns" fans on here like Ghoolie and his butt-sniffer extraordinaire Gorka who kept going on and on about how "that Kenny Pickett just seems to have it." 🤣

That’s what happened tho, he would still be a Steeler otherwise. I still think the dude will find success. Guess we shall see.

  14. 9 hours ago, Dutch Oven said:

Apparently your front office thought otherwise.

You can say I was right about him now, buddy.... 😉

He was angry about the Wilson signing. He was a baby last season when Rudolph was given the start. People with good sources confirmed it even tho he himself denied it which is why the one game he didn’t dress despite being okay to be 3rd string due to injury recovery. Apparently he was on board with competing for the job but when the team brought in Wilson he changed his tune. Frankly that was enough for me because if he’s not willing to grind for the job I don’t want him anyway.

As much as I hate the Steelers, I give them credit. Either you fit the player that they need or you are gone, they don't mess around.

Apparently Kenny was pissed off they brought in Wilson. There was that dust up with Rudolph last season where Pickett apparently refused to be second string so he didn’t dress. I believe he asked to be traded here and tomlin abides by the “volunteers not hostages” mentality which I believe is also why Johnson was possibly traded. Although Johnson isn’t a willing blocker and that’s kind of a requirement in an Arthur smith offense.

I don’t know what the Steelers are going to do. I still think Kenny will challenge for that job and reports have indicated that Russ knows he’s coming in to compete for the job not be handed it. I’m ok with the Russ signing because he’s so cheap and he’s better than Rudolph and Mitch, both who are gone now. Paying him 1.2m is a no brainer. I believe Pickett is good. Canada was that bad.

Annnnnd the Steelers just traded Pickett to the fucking eagles. Lol

    whelp there goes that.

I thought Pickett was going to be really good too for whatever that's worth.  Having said that, your FO isn't ready to give up on him yet.  He had a pretty good finish his rookie year IMO.  Like you said, Matt Canada was a train wreck so they'll let better coaching de-program his teachings to see what they really have.

I don't think Russell Wilson will be the solution to your passing game; but he's still Dange-Russ with escaping the pocket. That could be enough if their defense plays well. The reason I say that about him is because he hasn't been the same game since that brutal injury to the middle finger on his passing hand.  He used to have a great zip and tight spirals coming out of his release.  Since then, he's had a lot of wobbly releases which don't get to the target nearly as fast (and they change the accuracy some).  All that said, he still clobbered the Browns last year.

And remember during his rookie season when I said that there was nothing I've seen from Najee Harris that scared me, and you said I'd eat those words?

3.9 career yards per carry after three seasons. Not a bad player, mind you, but pretty much what I said he'd be - a JAG.

And I'd take Pickett over Watson too, he'd be a lot easier to release.

Dutch you gotta do better when coming at me big dawg. I do my research and only follow the guys that dig into tape when covering the Steelers. Harris had Canada his entire career too and year one our line was horrendous. Harris after Canada was fired averaged 4.38 yards per carry over that six game stretch. It matters. Harris can finally be Harris now that, that dipshit is gone.

Seriously though, has the Steelers ever drafted, traded or signed a player you thought was no good, and on the flippy flip, has a player ever left the Steelers that you thought was still a very good player?

I mean, Kenny Pickett my man. You tried so hard to convince, well, maybe yourself that he was a viable NFL starting QB.

Kenny pickett had Matt Canada his entire career outside of one game. The jury isn't out there. Mason rudolph wasn't and isn't some offensive savant and the o was moving pretty good once Canada got fired.

Beyond that absolutely on guys that got away. Hargrave is a good example, Steven Nelson, Holmes was still good, Emmanuel Sanders, James Connor but he kept getting hurt on the steelers probably would have kept him around. The team doesn't really let defensive players go that are still tip top and Ben for a while had us losing guys because of his contract. Rod Woodson was still good.

I would 100% take Pickett over deshaun watson. 😂

So we didn't sign Ohio State's backup QB to play LB for the Browns? 😁

When I heard about the Browns interviewing Bush today, I kept thinking they were talking about Devin White, and couldn't understand why they didn't seem real high on the guy. 🤣

Shenanigans, Vag. Straight up shenanigans in my head today.

Devin white kind of sucks too. Lol

his hatred for tomlin and the steelers is fucking epic. last year he had his best game against them

He had a seriously weak game. Accumulated a bunch of tackles but not a single one was of the impact variety. 18 tackles half way down the field.

Schefter: Ex-Steelers LB Devin Bush Signing With Browns - Steelers Depot

This article doesn't sound too encouraging. I was going to post some snippets from it but it won't allow me to highlight anything.

It basically says the Steelers moved up to draft him, he tore his ACL, and his production took a nose dive after he came back, struggling to get off blocks.

It also talked about his 18 tackle game as a Seahawk vs the Steelers and said that his play didn't match the gaudy numbers.

I wouldn't get your hopes up but I'm willing to give him a chance.

He sucks. He tore up his knee and hasn't been the same since. Gets lost in traffic, when he was still a steeler most had hoped he would get beyond it but he never did. I assume he's dirt cheap but unless something dramatically changes he's just going to piss you all off.

Good.  I don’t think he has a lot of tread left on those tires and 700 more carries than a guy like Josh Jacobs who got essentially a one year deal with team options later.

He doesn't. He's not the same hb he was and because of some big contracts on their roster they didn't have much choice. He will be fine but it's not some monster signing for them.

I would give JOK 3yr 35M rather than overpay for Queen

41M especially with the way it's structured isnt a overpay for Queen. Raven fans want to argue he simply benefitted from Smith but there are plenty that would argue the opposite. He's still incredibly young.

I also agree on Jok. Better off paying your own, especially when they deserve the bag.
