  1. I’m ready for the virtual signaling. 😂

I still don’t think this is a smart move but the dude is a stallion. Gonna be a faaaaay contract and a lot of capital. Right move? Guess the north is going to find out!  Rapistburger better be a banned term on here. Lol

Meh. First of all I'm not sold on the "not their pick" chatter.

Berry and Depo were in the room when they picked him and were very much on board.

No NFL team ever is going to play an injured guy so that he looks bad and it's easier to appease the fans when you dump him.

They just don't think he is Championship caliber. If you are going to play injured, you need to perform... He simply did not play well, and they want to upgrade to a better caliber qb while they have this championship caliber roster.

Baker was pretty fucked up last season. There was no reason to trot him out there with keenum in the wings. He’s not a hall of famer, he’s not at the end of his career. You park his ass.

So now all of a sudden we find out the front office wanted to shed Mayfield all season long. After all he wasn't Andrew Berry's pic anyway. Many people complain that Baker should have sat when he got hurt and let the mighty Case Keenum lead us to the promised land. Many thought that it was Baker's decision to make as to who started which is not the case. Players don't decide who starts at their position. Let's say it's true Mayfield was actually physically unable to play but stefanski started him anyway. Let's say for the sake of argument we might have won another game or two with Keenum. Why would Stefanski the medical team and the front office start Baker every game knowing they had less of a chance to be victorious? Here's the conspiracy. They did so to make him look bad so the fans wouldn't freak out when they dumped him. If he'd gotten surgery halfway through the season and then got dumped it would really seem like he never got a chance.

As someone on the outside looking in I truly believe this is at least partially the case. Keenum is not a bad back up. He’s actually pretty damn solid. I for the life of me last season couldn’t figure out why they were risking baker with that injury and now all this with watson. However and I mean this as a diehard steeler fan the browns still managed to royally fuck it up and it’s unfortunate. If you are going to go after watson you better be damn sure you can get him. Now they can’t and they are left in the lurch. The impact with future free agents and guys like Landry, Beckham and yea even Duke Johnson running their mouth doesn’t bode well. I have no idea how jimmy haslam managed to fuck it up so bad but they definitely did. People downplaying this aren’t looking at the impact from a rational perspective. Mayfield whether he’s the guy or not got done dirty now he wants out. The browns aren’t high enough without a trade up for a qb this year, next is at least more stout. It looks like a damn mess from where I am.

  4. Everyone with rapistburger in their repertoire better banish it now. I think trading for watson is stupid unless the browns think they can win the super bowl. He’s a stallion with a TON of baggage. The next draft class is very strong at qb. The browns really hurt the culture with how mayfield is being handled. I know you boys may not see it that way but from the outside looking in I do and that’s with my black and gold glasses off.  He’d be great on your roster but he’s expensive and that doesn’t count the draft capital. He’s also likely to get suspended and there are no guarantees he doesn’t ask some nice Asian lady to peg him again. Frankly I don’t think some of you are ready for all that. Dude wants pegged and he’s rapey. Zombo is gonna have to ban me. 😂😘🙃😬

I'm not mad in the slightest, I'm actually thrilled. There's nothing new to see with Baker. Baker is who he is. You could get Baker 3 Pro Bowl WR's and he'll still suck. He has no talent, can't read defenses, holds onto the ball too long, and has some of the worst all-time 4th quarter crunch time stats. His ceiling was 2020 - everything goes 100% perfect - almost no injuries, super soft schedule, maybe a wildcard win against the right matchup.

I loved Baker's toughness and competitiveness, but we'll never ever get to a Super Bowl with him. Watson makes us instant contenders. I could care less about his baggage, if he wins nobody will care. If Watson stinks it up, sure he'll get booed. But Watson produced on terrible Houston teams, it is exciting to think what he can do here. If we get Watson, I think we pick up another WR and this offense is going to be scary.

I’m not even talking about baker as a player as much as I’m talking about team morale. Mayfield was done pretty dirty. It doesn’t bode well for team culture. The falcons for example let Matt Ryan know they were going to talk to watson.

I think the question is what did we give up for Watson? I'm thinking a boat load of picks, Baker, and Hooper or Hunt maybe? Hopefully news breaks soon so this doesn't drag out, but Baker is gone for sure. We've been clearing cap space - Landry gone, Tretter gone, Conklin restructured - all to pay Watson and Amari. I love it.

There is no way Watson goes to the Falcons. They are a complete mess. The o-line is atrocious, Julio left last year, Ridley is suspended all next year, no receiving threats, no running backs, and the defense is terrible. Carolina is mediocre. The Browns give Watson the best team to compete for a Super Bowl.

You are going to be giving up a lot. If I had to guess three firsts and maybe additional draft capitol and a solid player or something to that effect. Houston has been a dumpster fire. He’s still going to command a mint. If the front office thinks they are watson away from a super bowl you do it. However he brings A LOT of fucking baggage. The Browns will have a PR shit storm on their hands for a long time, especially if he doesn’t stay on the Walter Payton man of the year track post scandal. He’s also likely to serve some sort of suspension I imagine. It’s a weird situation.

  7. I honestly think the way the browns are handling this is totally fucked. I’m also not implying baker is the answer. However the dude played pretty damn hurt for a long stretch of time. If I were a browns fans I’d be mad at how they are handling it. I’d have at least let the dude get healthy, draft another wr and see what’s what. If they don’t trade for watson what the hell do the browns even do? Trade baker for what? To where? I can’t imagine he’s going to want to run out there and play. He’s too proud. Question the dude all you want but as I said before he’s got moxie in spades. Bringing watson in is a slap in the face.

You'd be totally in the right doing it.

Watson is categorically an upgrade over Baker, but he's a public relations nightmare.

And regardless of if the Browns trade for Watson or not, this is the beginning of the end of the Baker Mayfield era.

He’s a huge upgrade over baker. He’s one of the best  talents in the entire league stuck on a piss poorly run Texans team. He’s damn good but brings a truck load of bs along with him. It wasn’t until pretty recently I learned the Steelers tried trading Ben to the rams after his issues. Ar2 came out and said watson doesn’t fit the Steelers culture and did so for a reason. Watson is an upgrade over a ton of qb’s. Point blank. I also agree on baker. I don’t know what the hell happens with him now. The dude has moxie in spades but it only goes so far.

I wanted to bring in Trubisky to press Mayfield. Not happy about Puke picking him up, he is better than people think imo. Damn good running threat for one, and played on some abysmal Chicago offenses under Nagy. Also, had a really nice preseason last year in Buffalo.

He will extend drives and be a general pain in the ass. Pitt probably has a good idea how they want to use him to leverage his strengths.

I agree. I don’t know how he’s going to be but I’m cautiously optimistic. All I know is the Steelers have gone out of their way now to beef the line. James Daniels is a big signing and mason cole is position versatile. I hope the Steelers go after Jack. I still can’t believe the jags dumped him. I guess that happens when you pay Christian Kirk an absurd contract.

And honestly, I can see Rudolph playing at roughly the same level Ben did the last couple of years.

Not good enough to make the Steelers a legit contender, but he won't embarrass you.

Well, unless he's going up against Myles. 😉

It’s now Mitch’s job to lose. I won’t be surprised if Rudolph doesn’t come out of camp. Hell maybe you guys can trade for him. He and Myles can be buddies. 😉

  11. 56 minutes ago, hoorta said:

Yeah, Mitch is actually 1\2 decent... I just hate seeing a Cleveland guy playing for the Steelers.

Meh, it happens both ways. I actually really like the signing. His contract is very friendly too but has incentives. He’s getting 14m over 2 but incentives can bump it to 27m.

  12. If Mitch sucks the Steelers have the capitol to get one of the big boys next draft. If he lights it up maybe he stays and if he’s just solid it still puts them in a good position to continue to build the roster. I have ZERO issues with trubisky. Hell I would have been alright with minshew.

  13. 38 minutes ago, hoorta said:

No reason to make a giant move for anyone this season. Next years qb class is better. If a qb falls maybe they draft one this year. If Willis is there at 20 he may be the guy. Mitch is a fine bridge qb. Jimmy G would have put them in purgatory for three seasons minimum. Watson would have cost the farm even tho several reports stated that’s where watson wants to be. Colbert already said no. Mitch is better than Rudolph and if they do draft a rookie the rookie isn’t starting this season.

  14. 17 minutes ago, hoorta said:

Texans willing to waive the no trade clause... Watson wants out, but he can call the shots, and reports are wants to go to a contender.. If Houston is asking a Wilson level three firsts + players, no thanks.  ESPN saying Carolina and possibly Tampa are interested.

Trading for cooper puts the browns 3 or 4m over the cap. If the Browns were to trade for Watson your FO would have to clear a ton of room.

  15. Agreeing to tie here would be so bitch made it would be unbearable for either of those teams. You play to win. If the steelers went home on a tie they would deserve it. However implying a professional team would lay down for a tie is crazy. It would be like the the Browns and the steelers agreeing to tie so they both can go. No fucking way.

You're a grown ass man who has to come to an opposing fan message board to get their kicks. It's pathetic, and you're pathetic. There's no counter argument. I really don't give a shit that you're a Steelers fan, I don't really get into that rivalry stuff as much as other people. It has nothing to do me riling me up or getting under my skin, you just suck and it's very unfortunate.

It's really not hard to understand. Certain organizations make more money for the NFL. The Steelers, to their credit, have built a worldwide fan base that is probably second only to the Cowboys. It's extremely well known that the NFL is trying to market the game internationally, and having a storied franchise be shitty doesn't look good. It's not rocket science to put together why the Steelers, amongst other teams, get favorable calls. Do I think the refs are getting together and throwing money into a huge pot on gambling winnings? No. But do favorable calls significantly impact games, and do certain organizations objectively get those calls overall? Yes. I don't care when or why he was throwing the flag. The ref objectively leaned into contact with a fucking player on the field-it's undeniable. Why on earth would he do that?

Accept the fact the the reffing in that game was incredibly one sided. Your Reddit fanbase has a whole thread about it, because it's obvious.

One sided? Seriously? I’m not on Reddit much anymore with the Steelers. I can show you video from at least ten snaps where their offensive tackles are stepping back pre-snap/false starts no flag. There were bad calls going both ways. There are in every game. It seems it’s only browns fans that can’t get a grip on it. We lost our kicker against you all on a late helmet to helmet hit on a passer. Give it a rest. All teams have to contend with the refs. Steeler fans cry about it too and for good reason. We got fucked out of plenty of afc champ games against the patriots.
