  1. Gonna disagree there, Flugs... While I get that KC used him like he was a #1, feature back... they really did not have an alternative. Clearly Hunt is closer to Duke stylistically... it's just that Hunt is also a very effective early down back. So while I can see Hunt "stealing" carries from Chubb as a change of pace back, Chubb is still the #1. Whereas Hunt makes Duke superfluous.
  2. A lot to take in there... enough to deserve it's own thread Looking Ahead to the 2019 Browns' D... Vikes are an odd-ish choice. A couple parallels ring true, but are they enough when others fall flat? Our best Barr parallel walked months ago... secondaries have opposite strengths. On plus side a Schobert-Kendricks comparison isn't a bad one... Would Wilks' 2017 Panthers' D make more sense? Personnel seem further apart, but the DC impact has to be revealing. Step removed from DC, but his 2018 AZ D has more player parallels.
  3. Maybe, but that's not what was being said by "players" calling foul.
  4. With Duke the first to utter this... Bottom line for me in this whole non-event was that I did not see Baker getting anywhere near Duke's "wallet" with his comments. Duke's wallet was already set thru 2021... when he'll be 28. His use in 2019 will have no negative impact on his 2022 contract... when he'll be 29. In fact it's an easier argument to make that saving miles in the short term will help him in the long run. Another argument that's easier to make? That Duke's lil hissy messed with the wallets of 52 teammates...
  5. In a related story "several Browns" were just added to Dorsey's trade list...
  6. lol... I know that the older I get the more brain farts I am permitted. If you need my agent's number, let me know...
  7. Nope... and I still don't. DL shooting gaps to make tackles while leaving OL free to flatten the back 7 is about as far from that as can be. DL set up LBs by "occupying OL", e.g., a single DT tying up two OL. Put another way te DL "block" for the LB(s).
  8. Why would any of them comment on Duke?
  9. While LB is a weak room for us.... weaker than TE... like TE it's going to be a deemphasized position in 2019. I see a lot of Spread Offense coming in 2019 and with our WR room only Njoku is going to see the field in that set. We've got a helluva DL payroll for them to free up LBs.... We've assembled a disruptive DL... vs. run as well as pass... and disruptive DLs penetrate and make plays. They don't set up LBs. Garrett and Vernon cut off everything wide for Richardson, Ogun and LBs to stuff 4-on-3 in between.
  10. Baker is the face of the franchise. That face essentially said, "Lead, follow or get out of the way." I have no issue with that.
  11. Z, your total is 52... 24 O + 25 D +3 ST... so you have room to keep Kalis, which since he is currently a #1 might be wise. FIFY
  12. Terelle Pryor signed 1-year deal with JAX today. Something like his 6th team...
  13. Read a musing today that McCoy just might drag out signing past the upcoming mandatory mini-camps. Agree.... $13mm was not a barrier... at least not if we really thought McCoy was a key piece to add to our 2019 puzzle.
  14. Which is the definition of "a position of strength". It usually takes you more than consecutive posts for you to contradict yourself
  15. Not even the league's best RG vs. its worst Edge rusher??? C'mon man....
  16. Yet that is exactly what JD did when he swapped Zeitler for Vernon. You have to give value to get value.
  17. I get the above Ogun love... I really do.... but as I wrote in the Depth Chart thread, so far Corbett ain't cutting it in OTAs. So if Ogun's departure results in an upgrade of our OL in return, then it's a move which may need to be made. If we can't run effectively, then we goes nowhere in 2019. If we go nowhere in 2019, then this locker room could disintegrate and the window that could have been may never be. Still plenty of time... Austin or another OG still might emerge and be "adequate", but this kind of thinking has to start now.
  18. Actually nothing in Austin's Combine screamed "punch" which comes from hip snap as much as it does arm thrust. His 1.76 10-yd split and 28" vert are both pedestrian results, but even more disappointing was his 3-cone at 7.87 sec. PFF found 3-cone to be the most highly correlated predictor of OG success.
  19. Should we sign McCoy, then I wonder if Ogun becomes trade bait for OL help...
  20. Depth is cheap... quality depth is not. We have quality depth in a few areas, but OL is not one of them.
  21. Kush is now getting all the 1st team OTA reps.
  22. Players always ignore the team they visit first.
  23. Your account is entirely inconsistent with Hue's war-room reaction when the Kessler pick was announced.
