  1. Well then, we damn well better win the SB THIS year.
  2. Applying a good pass rush makes the DB's all that much better. Like I said, it's going to take our defense and Flacco to have good days.
  3. Personally, I think the Jaguars coach has earned it too.
  4. Head coaches fired today = Commanders and Falcons.
  5. Our final game of the season being played with a bunch of backups, did not do our stats any favors...but here's the full season in a nutshell. The matchup: Rushing. Even - The Texans don't run the ball very well. But we do not run the ball as well as our numbers show. We've truly struggled to run it in the latter part of the season. Passing. Texans - They're a good passing team. We, with the addition of Flacco, are not quite as bad as our numbers show. But still, the Texans have the advantage. Run Defense. Texans - Stats show that the Texans are difficult to run against. We aren't bad against the run but have gone downhill in the latter part of the season. Pass Defense. Browns - We are good against the pass when we have Ward & Co. on the field. The Texans are not great at pass defense, but how much of that is because teams cannot run against them? Still, our advantage there. Sacks are pretty close on all 4 sides of the ball. TAKEAWAYS - My God we've been on the negative end of this stat all year long. And the Texans are double digits to the positive. Argh... Bottom Line (in theory) - A couple of teams that negate each other's strengths but can't take advantage of each other's weaknesses. I'm left with a deciding factor being turnovers. It's going to take another great job by the Defense, and by Flacco, for us to win this game. Go Browns!
  6. Did he? Because he fielded a punt (pass) in the end zone? He was double covered both times. Pretty much had to wait for each pass. And none of those defenders got even near the ball. The Bengals DB coach must have been rolling his eyes. But...yes, he caught a couple of passes that wound up being TD's.
  7. Miss him on the board. Happy Heavenly Birthday Gipper! I hope Flacco wins one for you...and us.
  8. Third and goal from the 1 and the Jags didn't try to run it in on 3rd down. Poor coaching. And Lawrence was not accurate today. My 8 year old grandson is a Jaguars fan. I wanted us playing each other next week! Man, our game was a complete waste of time. On defense we had several players who couldn't shed blocks and couldn't tackle. On a TD run, Mixon made Jordan Kunaszyk #51 look like a backup to a backup. And on offense, we signed some QB during the week and trotted him out there like a crash test dummy. And who'd have thunk that the maligned David Bell would catch 2 TD's? The first one was like he was fielding a punt in the end zone.
  9. ...and you know they'll be looking at that wr room for possible upgrade. He'll once again have competition in camp next year.
  10. Absolutely. Mine was when Josh Gordon lit the Patriots up for over 200 yards.....only to have our special teams coach blow the game with a ridicules onside kick recovery alignment.
  11. At least they've drafted receivers. They understand the problem.
  12. Perhaps in the afterlife we can run that scenario. Production wise they were about the same...a catch or two a game. Of course, right now, the ceiling is unclear for Tillman...he's only a rookie. Bell however, seems to need a defender to fall down to catch a pass of substance.

    Playoffs

Right. Sticking my neck out that they will beat the Titans.

    Playoffs

So, I'm going on the assumption that we will be playing at Jacksonville.
  15. I mentioned that to Mrs. Wife a couple of hours ago. I told her that they started a guy named Painter.
  16. I'm glad that no team is depending on us to beat Cincy to get them into the playoffs.
  17. Goodwin has 4 receptions for the season. ...I agree, the stats for the last 5 games (or since Flacco took over) would paint a different picture. That's why I stated that we're a passing team. Heck, the last 5 games would probably show us as the worst running team in the league. Thus my concern for the WR position...and my concern for the 3rd leading receiver, Moore. Once you get past him, and the RB position (Ford & Hunt account for 56 receptions), it gets kinda' thin in terms of production. And I don't have the confidence in the next tier group of guys that someone is all of a sudden become, Hey, look at me, I'm good now. I would like to see Stef stay in that Old School / Anti Analytics play calling mode in the playoffs. Take any points that presents itself. Don't try to stretch a FG into a TD by going for it if it's over QB sneak length. Value the points. The FG is not minus 4. It's plus 3. Even with this new kicker (unless proven that he's untrustworthy).
  18. WR Player REC YDS YDS/REC LNG TD Amari Cooper 72 1250 17.4 75 5 Elijah Moore 59 640 10.8 42 2 Cedric Tillman 18 181 10.1 23 0 David Bell 10 99 9.9 41 1 ............... So here are the stats for our top 4 WR's. The leading receiver is Njoku with 81. Between Moore and Tillman is Jerome Ford with 42. (Ford's got a lot of receptions) And between Tillman and Bell are Kareem Hunt (14), Harrison Bryant (13) and Jordan Atkins (12). Elijah Moore took a nasty head to the ground hit after his last reception resulting in a seizure. There are some telling him to retire right now...so we don't know what his status will be going forward. Let's assume the worst-case scenario, Moore is done for the year. Gulp....so who's that leave us to compliment Cooper and Njoku? I mean Tillman is averaging 1 catch per game and Bell is at about a half reception per game. We're a passing team. Make no mistake about it. With Chubb and 3 Tackles out...we can't run. Flacco, Cooper, Njoku, Moore and the defense have us where we are (and the RBs receiving contributions). I feel like we absolutely need Elijah Moore on the playoff field to have a chance at beating playoff teams.
  19. Thank you Frank Ryan! You were the QB when I became a Browns fan. Your 3 TD passes earned us our last Championship. Please pass the torch onto Joe Flacco to earn us this fitting championship now that you and Jim are no longer with us to tie us back to the glory days. God Speed Frank Ryan. Thank you for those great memories! RIP
  20. Since the Rams loss I've wanted the Browns to go on the 4 game winning streak so that this week's game didn't have to be won. Hoo-Ray for the Browns for getting themselves here. So, this is the numbers. Of course, they don't mean much this week as the guys that earned these numbers for the Browns are going to be held out of the game. We've dropped from #1 against the pass to #2 because of one yard. The Bengals are the worst running team in the league. And they're not good on defense...except in turnover differential. Apparently, they let ya get all the way down the field and then take the ball away from ya. Lets see if we can get the backups up to speed in this game and be ready for the first round matchup against the AFC South winner. At least playing conditions shouldn't be such that the ball slides through frozen hands.
