  1. As you say, once we get past the bulk of free agency we can take the 'IN' off of 'infinite' as we might be able to rule out certain positions in the early part of our draft. Once we get into those 6th & 7th round picks, anything goes again. BTW ballpeen, as of January 8th I am, like you, retired. I highly recommend it. Of course, now I have kidney stones. I don't highly recommend that. Right now I'm in what scientists would call, A meta stable state. But when I'm having an attack, I wish for the vacuum decay of the universe.
  2. ...good post. And I absolutely understand how important those mid to lower rounds are (7th ?? meh, glorified FA's - although you have to study the perceived FA's also). But the time and effort for me to do that is just not gonna happen. Like Flugal, I'll check out some mocks for our earlier rounds...I'll check out draft rankings of the position groups to see who I might like at that pick...but beyond that......umm.....you do it....and I'll just blindly disagree.
  3. Yes. I like the combine. I like watching the receivers run the gauntlet. I don't think anyone's made it look easier than Emmanuel Sanders did. (we passed on him and the Steelers took him.......I was disappointed)
  4. Breer: Browns fired Alex Van Pelt because ownership, Paul DePodesta weren’t happy with Deshaun Watson’s progress Breer: Browns fired Alex Van Pelt because ownership, Paul DePodesta weren’t happy with Deshaun Watson’s progress - Dawgs By Nature Oh C'mon! Does Breer really expect us to believe that Haslem & DePo were behind this? I mean, does it sound at all like those two to get rid of the only guy to call plays to a playoff victory for us this century? Watson's progress! AVP has had to work with a myriad of QB's the last two seasons....because Watson A) wasn't allowed to play, and b) was injured most of the time. It's AVP's fault. Geeze.
  5. Thanks for this thread and to those who put effort into it. But it's hard for me to get excited about a pick late in the second round...until the second round is actually going on. I mean, almost an infinite bunch of scenarios exist with our first pick.

    But isn't Callahan leaving?

We've got plenty of 3rd day picks. Should be able to hit just about every position group.
  8. This thread is still going? We've just made the playoffs for the 2nd time this century. Let's fire everyone who got us here!
  9. That's right. Thanks. So, to amend my statement....AVP did something no other play caller has done for the Browns this century, he called the plays to a playoff win.
  10. It appears that somebody has made a mistake here. Either Buffalo fired him and he's actually not very good...and we made the mistake. Or Buffalo knee-jerked and he IS good. I'll say this about AVP...he did the one thing that nobody else has done this century, he won us a playoff game.
  11. I enjoyed those days...the players of the time, Greg, Fuzzy, Fred Couples, I liked Payne Stewart. He played blues harp in the unofficial PGA band. I think Peter Jacobsen played guitar...I forget who the other band member was...
  12. 83.3 Let's fire everybody that got us to the playoffs.
  13. So, what will the new OC actually do? We have a HC who calls the plays. He's not going to stop calling the plays. (HC's that call plays require the play-chart to be pried from their cold dead hands) IMO, the new OC will be an assistant to the play caller. And will hopefully bring some fresh ideas to incorporate into Stef's system. Ya know it was kind of refreshing to see Stef's play calling change as he went from QB to QB throughout the season. He was able to tailor things to the QB that he had to trot out onto the field that particular week. And when he got to Flacco the RPO stuff had to go into moth balls.
  14. Well, that argument can be made. But I still think that if there's a position coach out there that you've been wanting...and you can get him, then do it...even though you don't have the coordinator yet.
  15. Sorry to see AJ Green go. He was someone that you could pull off the shelf and put out there on the field and play your normal defenses. Sorry to see Watkins go too...but obviously he wasn't going to play here. Our WR situation got pretty bad at season's end and he still couldn't get on the field. I hear that we offered him a futures contract but he decided to go elsewhere. I can't say that I blame him.
  16. I always thought that Dan Marino was a great QB.
  17. The Rams paid a heavy price for Stafford and a Super Bowl. We've paid a heavy price too. But our trophy case is rusty and dusty.
  18. Yes, it kinda' does. I'm assuming that they really like him. But Stef is the HC. He hires his staff. The OC doesn't hire the HC's staff. But they can sure discuss people for the offensive coaching positions. Again I'm assuming that they liked this guy and didn't want to wait around.
  19. Those 3 wins came from good defense, good FG kicking, and good coaching. Here's what I want in our new OC. Somebody who'll walk up to Watson and teach him how to stay healthy. Teach him to run as a last resort. Teach him to get down early. He's not built like Lamar Jackson. We need him out there completing passes every week! Perhaps Deuce? He was a RB. Perhaps he'd tell Watson that he ain't one! And that we have other guys on the offense that do that.
  20. Yes. I always liked Goff. I felt bad about his trade. Made him look like he was trash.

The WR is 6'1 @ 172 lb. He'll be lucky to survive preseason without hitting IR. Texas used him a lot like we used Elijah Moore.
  22. ...I've said that too. Yup, all of the seasons are too long. I just saw that Orchard Park just got 28" of new snow. It's friggin' mid-winter.
  23. Really? I stand corrected. I wasn't aware. But they weren't playing in January. And I don't think baseball should be played in November at night. Personally, I don't think people should be playing prolonged sports games in the heat of the day in July & August either. It's too friggin' hot. I tell my foursome, Golf should be 16 holes. And still that only gets it down to 4 hours in the hot sun. OK...I'm done ranting about the climate.
