  1. Thank you Mr. Pluto! How many times have I said that I hate our star QB running with the ball and taking on tacklers? The QB, Kicker and Punter (and I guess long snapper too, but let's leave him out of it) are special players. Two of them are somewhat easier to replace (K & P). But let's face it, none of them are 'regular football players'. If you lose your starting QB, your whole organization goes into the $hitter for that season at least. (forget about last season's playoff appearance, we were extremely lucky to sign some old has been that played well) - ...and thanks muchly for that Joe Flacco
  2. So, you're the ST Coordinator and you're going to have to march up to the HC and explain what you plan on doing for the kick-off and coverage as well as how you'll handle the returns. What type of player do you need to cover the kick and tackle the opponent? What type of body size will you have at the 35 yard line for blocking for the return? Will you have them go forward and engage the coverage guys? Will you have them retreat before engaging? Will you have 1 guy deep or 2? Do you think one side of the ball has an advantage? Would you just decide to kick it through the end zone and give them the ball at the 30? (I'm glad they changed the spot to the 30 from the 35 in the eleventh hour. At least now there's an option that lets you kick it out of the end zone and you only lose 5 yards over last year's rule.)
  3. I see a whole bunch of Off-Sides penalties (or whatever they'll call it when a guy removes his foot from his assigned yard line before the ball is 'In Play'). ...and probably a lot of Holding calls...which will be nothing new.
  4. We don't have a 4th rounder. Picks 54 & 85 are quite important to get the picks right.
  5. https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2024/3/30/24116347/browns-helmet-rumchanges-2024 Rumored to be bringing back the white facemask and the gloss finish. I approve of both (though if I was a player I'd probably prefer the brown facemask). Now if they can just tone down that day-glo orange a bit and we'll be back to normal again....ie before the Haslems came along and started meddling with the damned thing.
  6. Wives! They just don't get it! (reminds me....I've gotta change a tie rod end and a couple of sway bar links on the vette)
  7. A friend of mine is a Miata guy (and a Mustang guy....usually has a couple of both). Not much power...but not much car. The Miata is a blast to drive around.
  8. Congrats!! As a past work-mate once said to me, the trick is making it to retirement. Sadly, he didn't. Nor did many of my closest friends. - I retired this past January. The 8th was my last day. Since then I've done many projects around the house that I wouldn't have dreamed of because...I didn't have the time. Again, congrats! And let's have a long and happy retirement!
  9. I didn't realize that the purchase was finalized. It's not a bad thing that the Browns owner has more ties to the area.
  10. I think that more players would be happier to come to Cleveland if they knew that they wouldn't have to be playing outside in the $hitty Cleveland winter-type weather. Does Cleveland ever want to host a super bowl? Without a dome they aren't getting one. (Cleveland is NOT New York) And just think, if / when the team gets really bad again, you'll be able to sell your late season tickets for more money. - Never forget, the New Orleans domed Saints came to Cleveland a couple of Decembers ago with a crippled offense and had to run the wild cat quite often...in one of the ten coldest games ever....and beat us because the ball slid right through the frozen hands of Njoku and Peoples-Jones in the end zone. And ANOTHER TD didn't happen because as Njoku was about to catch the TD pass he slipped on the frozen field and fell on his ass. $hitty weather is not a home field advantage.
  11. Look, I understand that a mobile QB is advantages over a non mobile QB (all else being equal). I had to watch John Elway keep us out of 3 super bowls. But Elway (& Steve Young) ran as a last resort. We've got a guy at QB who thinks he's Nick Chubb. He's gonna lower his shoulder and take a guy on and jump up and signal first down. And HE'S got something that Elway & Young didn't have, the ability to slide...and when you do that NOBODY CAN TOUCH YOU. It just pisses the bageezuz out of me that our Quarter of a Billion dollar, 3 first round picks, most important person of the organization, Starting QB...gets himself hurt and out for the season because he's running around with the ball. Now, Paul Depodesta would tell me, "But it's THAT athleticism that makes him WORTH the money and draft picks." To which I would tell Depo, "Then get me a backup QB that can lead us to a super bowl win because we're built to win now and I can't win a super bowl with your Athletic QB on injured reserve."
  12. Sure, drop back passers get hurt too. Brady missed a season, Rogers missed last season. Llamar Jackson missed a lot of a season by getting hurt while in the pocket...not running. But to me, having your QB running around....designing QB runs, etc....is adding a new level of injury danger to your most important guy in the organization. And there's always the mental / emotional aspect of the defense's mindset when a QB is running around embarrassing them. It makes the big fat guys want to smash the QB into pieces all the more. And let's face it, Watson is no big, burly guy. We had to play most of last season without him because he ran and took on tacklers.
  13. Flacco is basically nothing like Watson. This is a monkey wrench for the offense when the backup needs to play. Me, I prefer the drop back passer...like Flacco or Tom Brady. The OLine knows where the QB will be. They know he'll only run when time has completely run out and there is no other alternative. I don't like my most important and most expensive player on my football team running around making big fat guys' eyes light up as they're looking for an angle to knock the guy into the blue tent. But that's just me.
  14. Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina or Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas or Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State.
  15. Round 5, pick 156 - Javon Foster LT (6'5 319) is a three-year starter inside Missouri's RPO-heavy, zone-based run scheme with 41 career starts primarily at left tackle, including 13 starts in 2023. Foster has excellent arm length with a lean, high-cut build and good athletic ability.
  16. This penalizes you for scoring. I say, if you kick it into the end zone, they can either return it or take possession on their own 20. No penalizing the scoring team.
  17. Rd 2 Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas. 6'4 / 243 lb Rd 3 Brenden Rice, WR, USC. 6'2 / 208 lb. ( I wanna see who's kid is better in the NFL, Marvin Harrison's or Jerry Rices's)
  18. From Walter: 77. Zak Zinter, G, Michigan.Previously: 78. Spencer Rattler, QB, South Carolina. 79. Caelen Carson, CB, Wake Forest. 80. Tyler Davis, DT, Clemson. 81. Johnny Wilson, WR, Florida State. 82. Christian Haynes, G, Connecticut. 83. Justin Eboigbe, DT, Alabama. 84. Christian Jones, OT, Texas. 85. Tommy Eichenberg, LB, Ohio State. 86. Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon. 87. Jaheim Bell, TE, Florida State. 88. Brenden Rice, WR, USC. 89. Marshawn Kneeland, DE, Western Michigan. 90. Dominic Puni, OT, Kansas. 91. Brevyn Spann-Ford, TE, Minnesota. 92. Jaylen Warren, RB, Tennessee. 93. Trevor Keegan, G, Michigan. -------- Some people like OT Puni for us in round 3. But he just sounds too small for an OLineman.
  19. Yeah, Britt & Bowe.....another guy that could be shoe-horned into that category would be Andre Rison, from before Modell made off with our team.
  20. Here's what we do...we keep him on the 53 but don't ever use him (maybe for kickoffs)...and when a rival loses a kicker to injury, we put him on the PS.
  21. Well then...we'll all sleep better tonight won't we...
  22. Well, one downside is the amount of money he got....while we have Cooper, who was one of the cornerstone pillars that our '23 playoff run team stood upon. But, it's what FA is. Mostly, the better FA players will cost you $ to entice to come to your team. Especially if the team is Cleveland...a place with $hitty winter weather (for you and your family) and you're going to have to play outside in it. That said, it's good that Berry is showing his concern for the WR position. It's just so very important to have a good passing attack in the NFL.
