I know you all remember that rum I always recommend, Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. Well the renowned magazine call Wine Enthusiast (Larry can confirm that) named it the 2018 Spirit of the Year against all classes of spirits including rums, whiskeys, scotches, etc. Anyway, thought you might like to know for starting off next season right. Participation Trophy for all who imbibe.🤩🏆

Beats the hell outta what I drank once celebrating a promotion & relocation in the Army.....I celebrated with a 6 pack of Colt45 (16 ouncers) & a pint of Bacardi.....I have never been drunker or sicker in my life!! (I was 19 then. I'm lots older & a wee bit smarter now)

I took it to mean Defensive run game coordinator and Defensive Pass Game coordinator under the Wilks umbrella.

The coaching staff looks great. Even better, Cincy is the last in the door, out there looking for scraps.

    Well, there's always Jackson & Horton.  🙄

The AFC & NFC GAMEDAY meals today:

3 pm - Pimento stuffed Spanish Manzilla olives, small salad with thousand island, thick breaded oven roasted pork chops with potatoes, onions, carrots......ummmmm still stuffed.

Tonight (whenever) bologna sandwiches with provolone on dark pumpernickel and lettuce, chips and whatever. Mmmmmm. :D

The SB LIII GAMEDAY - TBD.

Around games & snow related duties, I have snacked & drank beer today. Just one of those days.

  4. This is as good as soup gets!! (my "tweeks" are in bold). I got this recipe from the Ohio Game Fishing website:

Here is one of my favorite cold weather recipes. It feeds 6 people.

1.5 pds. mild or hot italian sausage (I always use 1/2 mild & 1/2 hot & I prefer Giant Eagle's)
3-4 cups beef broth (I use beef STOCK & always add up to 32 oz more if soup gets too thick)
1 (28oz) can crushed or pureed tomatoes
    1 onion chopped
    1 large carrot chopped
1 square package frozen chopped spinach
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste (I ONLY use fresh cracked pepper)
    1 package frozen CHEESE tortellini

Remove sausage from casing and brown, break it up. Drain sausage and transfer to pot. add remaining ingredients to pot, EXCEPT TORTELLINI!!!! slow boil or simmer for at least 45min-1hr, until vegetables are tender. The longer you cook it, the thicker it will get. (I cook this in a crockpot on low, that's why the extra beef stock).
5-10 min before serving, place tortellini in pot.
    Tips##
Make sure you buy CHEESE tortellini

    Beware, addiction is possible.

I make stuffed green peppers from time to time, but I'm not familiar with stuffed pepper soup. How do you do that?

Bill, there are many various recipes online. Just brown the beef, chop the peppers, and throw it in the crockpot with your other ingredients. I like food a good bit spicier than Colleen does, so I grind black peppercorns in it & maybe add some hot sauce after I fill my bowl.

  6. One name that popped into my head is Carson Palmer. He just retired in early 2018, knows Freddie well (in fact, was instrumental in getting Freddie his life saving medical help), & could be a tremendous assistant on the offensive side of the ball IF he would be interested. Just a thought.

What names can you folks think of, particularly on D.

  7. Yesterday, our tailgate was mostly pretty standard stuff (burgers, 'dogs, brats, bacon wrapped smokies, etc) but I made a good sized batch of my beef jerky & it was a hit. We decided it is good luck, so it will be added to standard fare at our future tailgates. Last home game I took bacon wrapped olives which are good IF you like olives, but most of our guests do not, so those are now off the tailgate list.

From the article "Authorities could bring criminal charges against the suspected gunman as soon as today,"

Call me a barbarian but I see no need in cases like this for due process or charges, hang him publicly broadcast worldwide , save some money and send a message.

Add me to your "barbarian" list. It's about time a VERY stern message gets sent!  Just do it soon.

Words of wisdom, enjoy while you're watching the BROWNS games or whatever.

Do you guys ever use those fake reusable ice cubes for cooling drinks? What temperature do you like your sipping whiskey or other spirits?

Anymore, I'm a beer guy. I do have a set of Browns' shot glasses surrounding a 5th of Bushmills Irish Whiskey that will get a workout with the first win.

I have never even looked at fake ice cubes & I'm not "techie" enough to worry about temperature. IF I have ice, it's 2 small cubes in about 3 shots of whiskey.

When we beat the Steelers, it's a shot of Bushmills chased with an Old Leghumper porter.

Just got my bottle.  Only one they had so I lucked out.  Cost 28.00 at the CGX.  Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva with a picture of Ron Antiguo on it.  So do you mix it with coke or just straight?  Not going to drink a lot at one time.  May be a shot on opening day.

Rum, whiskey, scotch, etc......NEVER mix the good stuff!...EVER!!!

All this talk of small burgers from McDonald's has me hungry for some Hamburger Station burgers... It's too bad there isn't many of them around anymore. (Akron area)

Ah, the descendent of Thacker's Hamburgers on E Market St in East Akron near where I lived when I was young. At Goodyear shift change time you couldn't get in the door. I haven't yet been to Hamburger Station, but I hear they're just like the old Thacker's.

A McDouble w/ cheese is literally the perfect road sandwich and quite delicious to me.

I recently (without thinking) ordered a double cheeseburger at the drive up. When I pulled up to pay & questioned the price, I was told I should have ordered a McDouble (for 40 or 50 cents less)! The difference in the sandwiches?...ONE slice of cheese.
