If we're going for the Mount Rushmore of all time busts, it has to be a combination of draft position\ non production - injury problems.

    So, the top 4

Mike Junk- in "Mad Dog in a meat Market"

    Just-not ready -in Gilbert

    Trent (one hit wonder) Richardson

    And Barkless Mingo

I'm going to have to disagree with you on Richardson.

Is he a bust overall? Absolutely.

But the Browns got a solid rookie season out of him (1300+ yards rushing/receiving) and then dealt him right at the beginning of his second season for a first rounder. In reality, Richardson didn't really hurt the Browns. (It was a dumb pick, though)

Richardson absolutely killed the Colts, though.

I don't think Duke can take the pounding that an every down RB has to take.  I see him more as a, Raise My Hand For A Break, type of guy rather than the Carlos Hyde, I Don't Need To Come Out type.

Remember the argument Haley had with Hue about Hue letting guys sit too much during Training Camp and that Haley thought they needed to be on the field practicing more? I swear I think it was Duke specifically they were talking about

Didn't Mayfield have like 27 TDs in his rookie year to set the rookie record...in only a partial season:?

The stats NFL QBs are putting up now, even mediocre ones, are insane.

Mayfield is going to obliterate every passing record the Browns have, way before he turns 30. (If he stays healthy, of course)

I showed up to a thread about Hunt and landed in a debate about Hell.

Here's my beef with the Catholic Church and their religious instructions I wasted way too many years participating in. What part of excommunicating a divorced couple and their young children from the church exemplifies  "don't judge others" and "forgiveness of sins"?    So, if a spouse is repeatedly unfaithful - the whole family pretty much gets thrown out of the church, judged and unforgiven.    That said, an allegedly celibate Priest going Sandusky on little boys hasn't been kicked out of the Catholic Church.   He just gets sent to another Catholic Church where he can rinse and repeat the unthinkable (quite often under the same roof where most of the sacraments take place).

Did you ever see the film 'Spotlight' with Michael Keaton?

Fascinating movie on the Catholic Church in Boston and their coverup of pedophiles in their midst.

First sorry he drank himself to death. Secondly I’ve been sober now 30 years. One thing I know is that a bar at 3am is no place for me or people like me.

The funny thing about nickers is how testy he is about this situation (YOU DON'T KNOW THE ENTIRE STORY!) while you know if there's even a hint that OBJ is late returning a library book he'll be all over his ass... 😝

Our atheist pals over on the political forum had better hope they were right.

This atheist who avoids the wasteland of the political forum like the plague is smart enough not to extorted into believing in the imaginary mob boss in the sky. I'm Italian, I'm versed in the whole "protection" racket already.

And I don't believe there's any mention of Purgatory in the Old or New Testament. I always was under the impression that Purgatory was a Catholic invention to try and squeeze more money out of their flock by hinting that giving more money to them might persuade Jesus's dad into moving them from Purgatory to Heaven.

This is a strangely interesting conversation, by the way. Not Browns-related at all, but still interesting. Nothing wrong with that.

In the King James Bible, Sheol (old testament) is translated to Hell 31 times, "the grave" 31 times, and "the pit" 3 times. In new testament "Tartarus" (deepest pit of divine torture below hades) and "Gehenna" (a place where both soul and body could be destroyed in "unquenchable fire") are typically translated as either "Hell" or "Hell fire" in many English versions.

While we are talking about fiction books, how many times is hell mentioned in the Lord of the Rings, The Godfather and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? 😝

Rheingeist’s Truth seems to have become the premier IPA here in Cincy. You see it everywhere.

Love me some Skyline though. Can’t help it. I even love their hot sauce.

Visited Cincinnati for the first time last summer, thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Caught two Indians/Reds games while there.

Stopped in an Irish bar to have a drink on the way back to the hotel after both games (O'Malley's in the Alley) and had a Rheingheist Truth the second night, because when in Rome.... Grossest beer I've ever had. I can drink some Summer Shandy, Blue Moon, etc, but Truth was disgusting. Fucking grapefruit. Ugh.

And Skyline tastes like someone tried to make chili, had a stroke, and then thought they were trying to make a pumpkin pie. Seriously, what the fuck is that shit?

The thing is, the Browns have never had a Hall of Fame caliber  MLB.....and no LB at all that had played for the Browns has ever made the HOF. (overlooked Clay Matthews played OLB)

Costello may in fact have been the best MLB we have ever had.  Are there any other candidates? Who would they be?

I know defenses were different back in the day but didn't Bill Willis play MLB? (or the version of it back in the 40s and 50s?)

Edit: Willis was a middle guard, which was another name for nose tackle. When defenses went from a 5-2 front to 4-3, the middle guard moved off the line and became the middle linebacker.

So I'd go with Mike Johnson being the best MLB besides Costello.

I think it was Galen Fiss who actually came up with the defensive game plan against the colts for that game..

Now that I think of it, and watched a video to confirm it, it was Galen Fiss who made that open-field tackle on Moore, not Vince Costello.

And it was defensive back Bernie Parrish who came up with the game plan vs the Colts, not Fiss.

  11. Costello made what many consider to be "the play" of the '64 Championship, when he made a perfect tackle of HOF RB Lenny Moore on a screen pass when there still was no score in the game. If Costello didn't make that great open-field tackle, Moore might have taken that screen pass all the way to the endzone. Costello did make the tackle, and the rest was history.

As much that has been written about the Jets huge upset of the Colts in Super Bowl III, the Browns were huge underdogs in '64 too.

Most people not named calfox are not aware that a report button exists, actually.
