  1. 3rd and 6 and we have 3 guys 25+ yards on routes down the field
  2. I too like Greedy better in the game I think his length could frustrate a guy like Brown. Our Second team secondary while it was a great story. The numbers could have been worse the Rams were not in sync all first half and they had guys open. TJ specifically for most of the game bailed on the 10-15 yard out and in cut and played off the WRs. This is a front 7 stay discipline game. Gregg Williams D is the last thing you want to roll out against the Ravens o. Gregg gave up a guy 20-25 deep to prevent the deep ball. That guy needs to be at 10 following Jackson around. And you don’t dial up pressure up the gut. You do a controlled blitz maintain your gap and your DEs need to funnel Jackson inside to help where your backers need to be. Looking back we didn’t have a chance last year. so hopefully our QB stops tweeting and plays a game and Kitchens calls some plays and the O gets on track. This is winnable which is why I asked not one reasonable mind “expert” believes we can win- shocking to me
  3. Not one “expert” has picked the Browns this week. i know the offense hasn’t put it together yet, but are the Ravens that much better?
  4. Are you talking about the Browns? We had three timeouts...45 seconds left.
  5. I just watched the Packers throw four straight passes at the 1. Looks like stupid has company
  6. Sounds like the media is right on it. Sounds like an offense geared toward a gun slingin big arm rookie. Year 2,3,4 growth you start making other reads. People use the Brett Farve comparison a lot with Baker and Farve has his worst year by far his second year (I believe). Vanilla offense year 1 slight expansion as the years went on. I think truthfully he could stand to probably learn the playbook a little better that probably comes with time too
  7. I was too busy yelling at my TV when they went empty backfield. i was thinking after first dow well that’s okay nick Chubb gets it on 2nd. Same thing on the next play he’ll get a third down carry.
  8. I watched the cards game. They gave up big chunk pass plays against the Cards if the Cards didn’t self destruct like they did and punch in a TD instead of FG they win. They kicked three FGs under 25 yards. You had Rookie QB two WRs over 100 yards one of those WRs wasn’t expected to play this year. Their offense is a work in progress like ours. the Rats are missing Jimmy Smith. the pass rush isn’t as vaunted this year and if you listen to the Rat fans they know that it’s missing. This is called opportunity
  9. I think he’s been fairly accurate. I think all QBs miss some throws in a game. The fact he isn’t taking the checkdown often and going down the field more than most suggests he’s likely to miss more than usual. The level of difficulty going further down the field and throwing on the run. Not as good. Still He’s made a few of those throws and when he’s set his feet in the pocket he’s been on the money more than he hasn’t. One of my complaints this year- take the check down and let these great athletes we have make YAC. He’s made some great throws this season. Tough throws too and he’s missed some open guys sometimes in an attempt to push the ball further down the field. And the chief concern he’s held onto the ball way way way too long on too many occasions. Like you said not seeing open targets sometimes. If OBJ was one on one during any of those goaline pass attempts he should have made an effort to find him. I can’t imagine that being the case.
  10. I wouldn’t say confidence mojo thing. It’s a film study correction thing. He’s left a “clean” pocket 12 times - on plays that were not designed rollout plays. I would say he was one of the better QBs last year at navigating within the pocket and making throws
  11. Absolutely - example of what you describe is the OSU 2018 Defense. They are one corner down - the other had a concussion last week and a free safety still feeling things out. Along with a disappointing pass rush. Its time to get the offense on track. They really need employ tempo and RPO and make this secondary and pass rush think and work harder.
  12. There may be some personal issues holding this team back.
  13. Thomas and Weddle are two different players. One is rangier the other is better within 10 yards and arguably a better blitzer as well. If the D Coordinator isnt game planning to the new players strengths than it really doesn’t matter if Thomas is slightly better. The Arizona game told me a lot about the new look Ravens. Don’t forgot about old man Suggs too. He’s gone. defense is about scheme and communication and I don’t think the Ravens have it yet. Unfortunately neither does our offense. Huge game for us.
  14. They had four drops in the first half and our DBs were bailing all night on the 10-15 route not giving up anything deep. The Rams didn’t execute well. We actually played better in the second half (at least I thought) but the Rams O executed much better. We need our secondary back big time
  15. The Ravens D is missing two important pieces last year from a communication standpoint Mosley and Weddle. Mosley is missed from a talent standpoint too and It shows. Old man Fitzgerald was wide open multiple times and the Chiefs WRs has plenty of room to operate. Jimmy Smith is out. This is could be a game to get Baker fixed and pass game fixed. I don’t necessarily think ball control is the way to go...but them at a deficit early...maybe go to Chubb in 4th and break their will
  16. I like this except I don’t play time of possession with them. I would force their hand. On O- let’s go RPO no huddle get Baker in a rhythm slow their blitz. Some of you are terrified of our Oline- help them out here. Let’s try to get up early by a couple scores and force their hand. The Ravens can hurt us when Ingram and Jackson get rolling and can keep us off balance like you said. Let’s try not to make it reality and go full throttle on offense see if we can jump out early
  17. You handle a guy like Jackson differently...I think we are wiser. I think our scheme this year is better suited to beat him. Gregg Williams D didn’t have that....a Safety sitting 20-25 yards back and 7 man all out blitzes ....that’s not how you do it. you put pressure on of course but you stay within your rush lane. It’s a controlled blitz. If you loop and stunt you can give him a huge hole to take off through. You keep him in the pocket this way don’t blitz to flush him out. He’s a better runner with space outside the pocket. The DEs need to set the edge. This is game where I kick Garrett inside 30-40% of the time. I feel better having Vernon in the edge here too rather than Ogbah. this isn’t a let’s get cute and dial up a weird scheme in our front 7. This is all about discipline. someone in the second level needs to spy Jackson. The games comes down to this guy doing his job and the Dline staying disciplined. But Back 4 I mix it all up give him weird looks. He looked awful against the Chiefs. if Mayfield and kitchen can get their stuff together we win this game
  18. -7 way too many points. The Ravens secondary is suspect. The last two weeks they’ve allowed big plays in the pass game. One of those games against a rookie. I think a good bet is Browns total over too. On the other side, I don’t think Gregg Williams Defense had an answer for their run game last year- but I think Wilks D will be better prepared and it helps facing Lamar again and we have guys that have that experience. We need our corners back, we need to cover Andrews and our Spy on Jackson has to play a great game some of these guys that are dinged up need to man up this is a huge game
  19. 2 or 3 check downs on that drive too. Probably as many as we’ve had the past three weeks.
  20. No kidding Baker scrambling out of clean pockets. The worst thing you can do when you are struggling or struggled at times at the tackle spot
  21. Duke Johnson would have been on the injured list last night and would not have suited up. ill take the 3rd round pick next year and use it to replace Njoku
  22. No they didn’t. If you have backers that are crashing down like they were especially over the right side - that opens up screen game. But I saw a lot piss poor blocking downfield from the Browns too and you need some blocks on that play. Ratley has a great opportunity to spring Jarvis on that last drive and past a guy like he had an infectious disease. Instead of putting five guys in the end zone on weakly executed routes on 1-4 goal at the 4 last night- that may have been a good call. WR screen or the obvious Chubb left or Chubb right 4 times probably too we had three timeouts too. we did well with the screens to Chubb but we went to the well too many times on it at the end. we played like we had a rookie coach.
  23. I’m going to play devils advocate...he left some huge rush lanes that we took too long to exploit. you RUN at him, you trap him - take him up field and hit the spot he vacated. We had some nice runs at him not so much when he wasn’t cutting off the backside and making plays across the field. unbelievable talent but you can scheme him out for some of the game in fact use his penetration against him
  24. I thought Dernest Johnson did a great job at blitz pickup last week against the Jets. He had two snaps yesterday. If we are in such dire need of TE and we don’t have a good unit there why not go FB- so to that point I agree. the line played poorly for a lot of the second half last night. but if you honestly look at most of our pass plays he has more than 1.5 seconds it may not seem like in fact it won’t seem like when he’s leaving the pocket with NO pressure on him. He’s doing it a ton. Watch the tape. It’s a problem makes you susceptible to pressure on the outside too something we aren’t accustomed to handling especially with a backup guard playing right tackle. Baker and our O scheme is the problem. Next I’d put Oline particularly the RT spot, TE personnel grouping and Higgins being out.
