The bigger problem is these positions are all are all appointed, and surely we know that favoritism from owners, investors, and other inside influencers plays a key role in how these officials are chosen. As such, refs can be persuaded to favor the individual who put them into those positions. Add to this, owners, players and even refs bet. However, they are resigned to betting in hidden places unseen to the casual observer. When these "bookies" call to collect, the interest is life changing and ones family quickly can be brought into the picture if the debt isn't squared. People love the Sopranos and Godfather but fail to connect that these things are based in reality. 20 years being married to and immersed in that shit assure me that it isn't the NFL that is corrupt but rather the NFL is subject to human activity. My intent was not to instigate the "NFL" is rigged debate, but rather hear some other view points about how this kind of shit can continually happen to the Browns. Refs blow calls all the time, and we can certainly expand a conversation into "is the NFL rigged?" Honestly, how does one "rig" an event that has 32 owners, all with vested interest?
