Here's some highlights of our last pick in the draft. Before we make too much of these - we're not going to be seeing any plays he wished he could do over here. Here's a Wikipedia write-up about him:

Briggs started the first game of his true freshman season at Virginia in 2019, becoming the first freshman on the defensive line to start for the team in the opener since 1986.[9] He ended the season with 19 tackles and a sack and was named a mid-season Freshman All-American.[10] He then appeared in seven games in 2020, after having played in 13 in his first year.[11] He entered the NCAA transfer portal and transferred to the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2021.[12] He ended with 39 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss (TFLs) and four sacks in his two seasons at Virginia.[13]

In his first year at Cincinnati, 2021, Briggs totaled 43 tackles along with four TFLs and three sacks while appearing in all 14 games.[3] The following season, he recorded 60 tackles and 4.5 TFLs and was named a first-team All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) selection.[14] He returned for a final season in 2023 and was a team captain and honorable mention All-AAC choice while recording 27 tackles in 12 starts.[13] He finished his time at Cincinnati with 130 tackles, 14.5 TFLs and eight sacks and earned invites to the Hula Bowl and East–West Shrine Bowl.[15][16][17]

The 4th play from the end of this video was my fave.  Check out the lead blocker.  I think he woke up on Gilligan's Island...

Browns currently have 89 players under contract (after the draft picks & UDFAs sign) with a maximum of 90 players allowed during the offseason.

1 player short of tagging this as a 2024 beginning camp roster... BuT,

The media won't be giving this roster any C grades ^^

The draft run on TE's started in the 4th round (no pick)

Below is a 6th round graded UDFA TE coming to C-Land. Watched what i could find on plane ride home  👀

TE Treyton Welch, Wyoming - We got a dawg-fight for TE3 going into camp

Had a great road trip to hometown OH-_ _ !

😆 Glad to hear you had a great road trip. Good work with the pre-season depth chart.  As for TE Treyton Welch - it was pretty easy to see why his teammates voted him a Captain.

It's nice to have the amount of talent on-board to the extent we're just balancing the depth throughout.  Given that we lost both RTs and our LT to injury last year - that might be our biggest challenge ahead.  Ifedi is more of a Guard and didn't play a down last year and he could play RT in a crunch.  LT kind of scares me; but there may be some opportunities to improve our depth there before the regular season kicks off.  We shall see...

As a solidly over the hill gang member with 54+ years married, I can truthfully say that the words they want to hear regularly even more than the 3 are, "Yes dear." And you damn sure better be good at faking it or they get you anyway.💃🪄🥲

Indeed!  Those are the 1st 2 words after "I do" in bold up top.  Having said that when you're married 30 years - the frequency of using them can lessen.  By then, we have all we can do to remember why we just walked into the kitchen.

Hall is a far more athletic DTackle.

Togiai was a super strong fire hydrant of a DTackle whose ceiling tapped out in college football.

At worst, I think Hall is great depth guy inside. Obviously, you don't draft a guy in Round 2 to be just that, but I'd be surprised if he flamed out as quickly as TT did.

    Togiai was fast-twitchies-free.

Hall was born with fast twitchies.  My guess is we'll see him used in a lot of 1 gap, upfield penetration

Ika?  He's stuck on pause in handicapped parking.  That said, he's only been here 1 year. He's Polynesian so you know he bench presses Ford Rangers when he's not snacking between snacks.  He's clearly a 2-Gapper.

Then we have Tomlinson, Hurst, Hill all returning.

There's also the Rookie from Cincy.

I think we're ready.  Wait til Jimmy sees the food bill during training camp.

Still absorbing it all in w/flight back to NC tonight. Check back in Monday, in short

Let's all agree, Berry/FO started & left this draft as the dead last team (32nd) in 2024 draft capital. Sure we can all second guess the picks... I had My moments...

Trade back little for Mike Hall or Junior Colson ?

LB Payton Wilson at 85? (local favorite goes to Shitz'burgh? 😤)

Why take a 7th rd. corner, when 4 picks later, FSU TE Jaheim Bell may fill a higher depth need ?

Ya see? (take all your 🎂 off)

    Later studs !

Happy Birthday Old Man!  We have plenty of time to talk about our draft - as long as we don't forget now that we're both in our early 60s....  Your buddy Flugel was Class of 82 (high school).

Wait til you see the film clip Syd shared about our last draft pick.  Football Wood Factor:  Balsa to Sequoia.

Once he's back to 100% Zinter can be a staple at guard for years to come.

(I wonder if Corum and Wilson going right before affected that pick at all for us)

The video conference in the Day 1 Thread  with Zinter and Hall side by side was entertaining to see the respect each new teammate has for the other.  The pleasant surprise of that is Zinter saying he's ready to go for the spring practices.  He's been told the fractures are healed and he's been cleared to practice.  It sure sounded like it's without restrictions.  Zinter also indicated, he was cross trained to play Center at Michigan if their Center couldn't answer the bell.

Zinter is a GREAT kid now...

This might be a real good RB to keep around. I'll post his stats in a few minutes but I heard he had some nagging injuries at BYU so he started the last 3 games and had over 100 yards rushing in each of those games. In 2022, he had over 1000 yards rushing for UNLV. I like his frame at 6-3 240 lbs.

thats why i posted it LOL

Thinking ahead somewhat here.  It's conceivable that we could be looking at this grouping in a starting formation sometime within the next year or 2:

Luke Wypler (Ohio State)  Zak Zinter (Michigan)  Dawand Jones (Ohio State)

        Center                             Right Guard                  Right Tackle

I'm not in any hurry to push either Pro Bowl Guard out of our line-up; but injuries, contracts and other things create opportunities for newcomers.

Zinter and Hall will also be facing each other in practice. There's probably going to be situations where Wypler or Jones has to block Hall.

    Jowon Briggs Scouting Report

Full breakdown for Cleveland's new DL

Wow! I just saw his highlights on ESPN.  He was tossing guys around like they were salad.  Strong powerful guy that did 42 reps on the bench.  He's gonna be a nightmare for some interior offensive lines to deal with.  Jowon Briggs - Coming to shutdown an inside running game near you!

An NFL scout really said a 282lb 3tech should shed "weight and be a LB". ?

I would fucking doubt that. And that's a piss poor eval.

Was that an NFL scout or a Cub Scout?   My biggest concern with him, believe it or not, is how many times he doesn't have his head up when he's actually in ideal position to make a tackle (many of those for a loss).  The 1st question someone might ask me about that is - can't that be coached up? A lot of that depends on how long he's perfected this bad habit.  I would feel better about this pick if we made it 1 round later.
