THE BROWNS BOARD

Dan Pompei Says Mangini Will Get Axed

Holmgren and my main love gruden are light years above mangini. (Right now)

I don't undestand the faith people have in a un proven guy.. mangini right now reminds me of wayne fontes. Maybe doing just enough to save his job. If he can get to the play offs I will put him with wade philips.

He put pieces in play for the Jets to be contenders in the future - which Ryan is working with right now. He has brought depth and fight to this Browns team that we haven't seen since our return. Unproven? That's ridiculous. He has proven a lot.

As much as I like where EM has our team headed, I am absolutely beyond frustrated that he continues to start Delhome, over Wallace while Colt heals. It is a pathetic decision and one that reeks of "my guy".........................Every time Delhome drops back, throws a wild side arm pass to a guy who's double covered and then looks over to the bench with that blank, confused look, I lose a lot more respect for EM.

I 100% agree with you there, I'm getting tired of seeing Delhomme stink it up every week.

well I agree but our o-line is not helping him out any, and our WRs can't get open.. Daboll's playcalling hasn't helped either...

I see your point but how did McCoy have pretty good success with the same receiving corp and Delhomme, who is the vet, can't seem to get it to any of our receivers?

I know the weather is a factor today and I didn't like that stupid reverse call by Daboll but it looks like Delhomme is just off.

I'm so pissed off right now that I probably shouldn't post, but after that display of ineptitude, Mangini, and his whole staff can get the hell out. What a terrible display of week long game planning, and even worse game day play calling............PATHETIC MANGINI, PATHETIC

I'll probably regret this post tomorrow, but damn it

Word is out...no WR to burn you, Jake is NOT mobile, so blitz. My question is, why wasn't the more mobile Wallace brought in, or more wildcats used? Also, even given the fumbles, why did we desert the run as our primary weapon? Hillis was running well.

The Browns did not play well. It looked like they took this one for granted, & Buffalo came to play.

How can you play a QB that looks like he has cement bags on his feet? Honestly, Cribbs at QB the entire game gives the Browns more of a chance to move the football. Losing out gets EM fired.....so his dumbass better bench Jake the mistake.

Holmgren will be back as GM and not GM/Coach.

Mangini will be back. Mangini's job is safe irregardless of any more wins this year.

I won't be surprised if Colt doesn't start another game this year. They have seen him perform enough to know he's their man or they're going to acquire someone else. I strongly suspect they like what they saw and playing him more this year really isn't necessary.

It's all about seeing who they'll keep and let go at this point for those players still on the bubble, especially on the O-Line and Defense.

No, I'll have to respectfully disagree. If you have an ounce of football IQ, it's painfully obvious Jake is totally, completely washed up. (Hands of stone Royals didn't help him much on a well thrown ball, I have to admit.)

So IF HEALTHY, Colt needs the maximum amount of snaps possible this year- and especially to see how he handles himself in the next three bad weather games. Yeah, it occasionally gets nippy in Texas, and Colt is one tough cowboy- but I (and I'm sure Mike Holmgren) want to see how Colt plays when its 10 degrees out. :)

I agree as well. Colt needs to play as soon as he's healthy. We all knew that Jake wasn't the future...unfortunately he really isn't the present either. This team needs to win games heading into a year when we should be able to be competitive for a playoff spot and Colt looks like he's the guy to lead us there.

I brought up this subject in a previous thread. The issue to me is relatively simple. Two main things ego and offense. Holmgren has a huge ego and wants to be credited with the success of the Browns. We are moving nicley in that direction.

Jake is a trainwreck and McCoy is showing he may be a real find.

Holmgren is an offensive minded persons and Mangini appears to be very much conservative on offense consdering his track record here and elsewhere.

I think Holmgren would love the glory and part of that is having an offensive juggernaut. Mangini has NOT shown he is one to create an offensive juggernaut.

It probably troubles him that Mangini got here first

Mangini has shown he is a competent NFL coach and can motivate his team get them to play well.

SO bottom line if we falter the last three games............Mangini will be gone and we will look for an offensive mind

If we win two it is a push he stays or gets canned

IF we will all three.......he is a lock to stay

My guess is Holmgren is looking for ammunition to replace Mangini

and if you say gruden i know you and WRREBEL (matt) are gay and sleeping together.

if holmgren fires mangini after the team has shown the progress it has even w/o seeing the results of the last few games, i'll deem him an idiot. what: break everything down and start all over? again? NONSENSE.

only ammunition needed is the clip to cap your ass with.

Wait miktoxic, how did you know about me and rich4eagle?

As much as this loss hurts it is the nail in manginis coffin. The browns play down to there competition. All I heard all week is mangini clones saying how we are a bad weather team.

You people might get mad at me but mangini is not the answer.

Gruden will be our coach in 2011, deal with it and get ready for return to glory..

Oh and btw I also predicted we would win this week ;)

Yep, I agree, WRREBEL, that Gruden will be our coach. Holmgren's forte is offense comes first, and defense comes next and Mangini does not fit Holmgren's forte. This team is eerily similar to the 2002 Tampa Team in my opinion. Joe Haden is Ronde Barber, TJ Ward is John Lynch, Marcus Benard is Derrick Brooks, Peyton Hillis is Mike Alstott. Mangini has helped built the team, however, the team needs a new coach to put the finishing touches to the team.

This doesn't have to be a gang fight... it's a discussion. I don't think Mangini's an idiot... but I do think it's possible that he'll lose his job. Why? Because Holmgren was brought in to remake the franchise, to be "the guru." For one year, he did it with a staff that is not of his choosing that doesn't run his schemes. It was show-me time, and no matter what else we say, the Browns are 5-8 and just lost to Buffalo.

Is that great progress over 5-11? Is it really? I'd say Tampa Bay and Kansas City, both at 8-5, have shown more progress. The Rams, too.

If Holmgren deep down wants to go with his systems on both sides of the ball, he has his opening. It's his call. Certainly we haven't done anything on offense to make us get psyched for more Daboll. That's a given. And McCoy is destined to be a WCO QB... and you can ask the Walrus himself and he'll tell you. Already did, in fact.

So do you tell Mangini he can stay if he essentially releases control of the offense? A lot of coaches would say no to that. So we'll see.

See I think mangini is an idiot savant, it all goes back to week 4 after the bengals game when he gave the game ball to his son.. The rest i agree with!

You have no idea..

The difference is, if gruden was on the sideline he wouldn't have that eric mangini dazed looked on his face when he is losing.

The fact of the matter is mangini has one foot out the door and his head up his ass. I personally feel bad for mangini, very good guy..

I really would have liked to see him suceed here. I'm sure he will land some where, u always need ball boys.

all I want for christmas is jon gruden

i agree.

But I have to add I don't think we plan to shelf Colt the rest of the season. I think he will play when he is ready to play.

I sometimes think too much, and this is probably a case in point, but i will share it anyway.

Maybe the thought in sticking with Jake is we want Colt back before we really play Wallace.

Say Wallace starts playing great. What does that do to the whole QB situation heading in to next season??

I really think the Browns want to have that settled this year....and so far, Colt's play has settled that to the largest degree....be it only 3-4 games of action.

And as much as we'd all like to see Colt do well remember that Hillis was setting the world on fire at that time.

When the defenses learned that was going to be the whole game plan he's been slowed down.

Like kicking away frrom Cribbs.

Don't forget last year we were on a streak with Harrison.

Where's he now?

Not to be a grinch here but I hate to see a guy set up as a savior and then crucified when he doesn't deliver.

(Sorry to go seasonal ;) )
