Mr. Make-Believe
Being a Canadian, I saw him a lot up here. He was awesome in the CFL. In this league... Like I said in another thread, I'm just not sure I understand the play.
choco
Albert Breer @ AlbertBreer 1m Andrew Hawkins' offer sheet with the Browns is worth $12.2M over 4 years, with escalators that could take it to $14.9M. Over $4M guaranteed
Zombo
Shifty guy. Bess without the head case. Slot guy. Gordon, Watkins, Hawkins, Benjamin ... Deadly. Just heard Bungles not expected to match. Z
miktoxic
he'd have to be the slot/possession receiver. no way is he a #2. too much to pay for that type of guy unless he has hands that catch everything and his YAC is off the charts. don't know. never heard of him. Zombo
Runs a 4.34. Injured last year, Brownd gotta be figuring he can build on 2012 numbers. Quick as shit. Can be as good as, or better than we were hoping to get out of Bess when we first signed him. Z

Zombo
I see Hawkins as a slot and Benjamin as a home run threat. Would give us a 1,3,4 ... Need to replace Little at 2 ... With Watkins. Z

runyon27
I liked the first two signings, I think the amount offered Hawkins is probably twice what he is worth, but we do have 49 million to spend.
John.R.Brown1968
Didn't he torch us for like a 40+ yard touchdown in the game down in Shitanasty? Maybe it was the year before. John.R.Brown1968
And according to bio comparisons, Hawkins is 3-4 inches shorter, and weighs the same as Benjamin. And he slightly faster. Maybe they figure with the same weight packed into a smaller frame, he's more durable. Ah, who the hell knows.

Considering he is a Benjamin clone, it's a curious move, especially considering Travis is cheap. But there's also no guarantee that TB successfully comes back from injury, so maybe he's A HIGH PRICED insurance policy.
Osiris
I think its an okay move especially if he can do PR/KR because as we saw last year, our return game went to hell once Benjamin got injured. So I don't necessarily see it as a move that threatens Benjamin.

I can't imagine they'd be fighting against themselves like that. Now... I'm not the uh... My god, I'm not the most knowledgeable guy out there. I'm a dummy compared to most of you. But it seems to me more like they've resigned themselves to being unable to draft Watkins (dammit) and see Hawkins as the potential #2. I don't see a salary being thrown out there like that just for insurance purposes. Or perhaps as a #2 who could get bumped to insurance if required or outclassed. choco
Don't over think it. This does nothing for Watkins. Benji isn't a slot giy....all speed. They are not the same guy by any means.

He is probably the slot guy. That means the #2 guy will come in the draft. Let's be realistic, Watkins is not a #2 guy, he's a #1 guy and he'd be overkill in my opinion, especially in a draft that has a very talented wide receiver pool. The browns will pick the #2 guy with one of their first four or five picks.
