The Gipper
Snooker is an English thing, we had all four semi finalists in the World Championship this year I love playing snooker, great game. Well, when I was in Ireland I saw a bit of sports on TV and heard some talk on radio.....and the discussion was pretty much exclusive to futbol and snooker. (This was spring...perhaps hurley is more summer/fall?). So snooker seemed big to me give the coverage it was being given. Here is a video on the rules.....a variation on pool. Snooker is not big over here.

TexasAg1969
I agree, for the money he gets paid I would be Floyd. If you're saying boxers aren't real athletes though, you are completely out of your fucking mind. No I'm saying it's a screwed up game designed to make maximum money for all. Why did this fight take so long to happen? Both too busy making money beating up lesser boxers. Fight game is just corrupt is all I'm saying. larryfine
Hi all. Jim Brown. Played in an era where the majority of the players he played against weren't any good plus he weighed more than 90% of the scrubs who tried to tackle him. Plus, he could get away with raping and beating woman and nothing was ever done about it. What a time! Go Browns!!

RoyceRolls
Lebron would guard MJ far better than MJ would guard Lebron. I'd like to see 26 year old Lebron drive the basket on 26 year old MJ so everyone clutching their VCRs and Space Jam footie pajamas could get the idea. gumby73
One on One:: It would be Jack vs. Tiger in Prime. Ali vs. Mayweather in any weight class. B-Ball to me is a Team sport, One 7 Game Series Heat vs. Bulls would be a better judge IMO..

Idiots love to mention the size of the guys tackling him without mentioning the size of the guys blocking for him. Rodman and Pippin were probably better defenders on his own team.

sisky fringo
There are only 4 major spectator sports....unless you are including golf or auto racing. Volleyball, Lacrosse, soccer, have not crossed the threshold into being major yet. ur sleeping Gip. Bj Penn or Connor Shaw, either one. even Aldo or Big Rig Johnny Hendricks would be cool. The Gipper
ur sleeping Gip. Bj Penn or Connor Shaw, either one. even Aldo or Big Rig Johnny Hendricks would be cool. What are you talking about. What does that have to do with what is a "major sport" in this country. Just because a sport calls itself "Major League" doesn't make it so. If that were the case, then the MLL would be considered a major sport. Or the MISL.

Or the MISL. u still missed it. maybe you failed to recognize the sport at all with it being less than 30 years old, or perhaps intentionally omitted it...regardless you seem to not have recognized any of the names and/or also lacked the knowledge or interest to google any of them, although currently incredibly mainstream and relevant. it's not my job to promote the UFC, Dana White does a good enough job himself...and while i'm sure you are aware of it, you obviously have no interest in it so i will pass and instead rest my case. but it's certainly worthy of being top 5, not just in the States but also in the world. Your thing is a minor niche sport....and that is fine if that is what you like. But its not about any money issue....it is about what people want/like. (The chart was as of Jan. 2015) And even if it is about money.....a basically dying sport still broke the bank over what MMA does.

MLD Woody
Between the Men's WC last year, the Women's WC this year, the 2016 Copa America tourney being held in the US, (and potentially the 2022 WC), growing popularity of the EPL, growing popularity and expansion of the MLS, bringing older overseas stars to the MLS, shifting US demographics to ethnicities that watch soccer, etc etc etc Among 12-24 year old in the US, Messi is their 4th favorite athlete and Ronaldo is their 7th. Or this graphic from a few years ago, showing Pro Soccer as the 2nd favorite sport among 12-24 year olds Soccer is growing in popularity in this country, whether some want to admit it or not. On the other hand.... On the other hand Baseball is dying a slow death. The average fan is getting older and older as kids today become less interested in the sport. I find the sport incredibly boring, and look forward to it becoming much less relevant. Watching the same Top 10s all summer, a variation of maybe three different plays in baseball, gets incredibly old...
