THE BROWNS BOARD

STEELER WEEK

I just think something is wrong - too many times a ticky-tac call on the Browns,..

and then flagrant no-calls on something glaring and obvious - the left tackle moving so early with no whistle

is one of the most recent "mistakes". Just a hunch - but it seems that the squealers and Patriots tend to be the

beneficiaries of refs mistakes.

Steelers always seem to be the beneficiary of something, lol. I know it's probably not true, but for some reason, they'll always be the "Immaculate Reception Team", we'll be the "The Drive/Fumble Team". :)

Ya know, you guys might not remember this, but one of the biggest "WTF Steelers Moments" came against the Browns (duh) like 16 years ago. It was a close game, right down to the wire. The Steelers lined up for the winning kick in overtime and....we blocked it! Yes! We didn't lose!

Not so fast. The Steelers kicked the ball on 3rd down, and since we blocked the FG attempt backwards and the ball didn't get past the line of scrimmage, the Steelers recovered the blocked attempt 3 yards behind the line and maintained possession....which they used to kick the game winning FG.

That's the kind of thing I associate with the Steelers. And no, I didn't make that up. And no, I've literally never seen it before or again in my life.

Here's the link.

I hate even typing this, but we could be walking straight into the NFL’s version of “Deliverance”.  It really doesn’t look good at all.  I just hope our players aren’t squealing like pigs come 4th quarter, LOL.  On the surface, it actually looks ok, right?  A 2-4-1 team visiting a 3-2-1 team…nothing too concerning.  But then you start to look a little bit deeper.  You realize we didn’t get Gaines back from concussion protocol, which REALLY kills us.  You see that Randall didn’t practice AT ALL during the week, and while he’s still expected to play, you have to figure he’s not anywhere close to 100%.  We’re supermodel thin in our secondary, and if Randall can’t play for whatever reason, I don’t even KNOW who will take his place.  I think we have some DB that plays special teams only, but I don’t remember his name.  What I DO know is he hasn’t taken a freaking snap this year outside of special teams, and we’re going up against a prolific passing offense with a ton of weapons.  Making matters worse, we’re play IN Pittsburgh, and oh by the way, the Steelers are healthy and they’ve won two in a row.  Lovely.

You have to obviously still play the game, and it’s true that anything can happen, but if we’re going to win, or keep it CLOSE, we’re going to need POINTS.  It’s time to break the “no TD’s in the first quarter” crap, stop getting cute near the goal line, and limit the penalties or we’ll get blown out, sure as anything.  I think it’s safe to say we’re not getting 6 turnovers this week, so we need to capitalize on the ones we DO get.  We also need the defense to score one of these turnovers.  It’s hard to believe we haven’t run one back.

Big Ben has been sacked only 9 times this year.  Not good.  Hopefully Myles and Ogbah can put together another strong game because they both looked VERY good last week.  And as much as I’d love to say the defense is going to have another strong game, I think that would be wishful thinking.  Having a beat up secondary against THIS team sounds like murder.  To me, this game is all about our offense.  If we have another punt-fest in the first half, you can forget about it.

Win or lose, I’m still excited to see Baker play.  Obviously this is quite a challenge for him, and playing at Pittsburgh has made a fool of lots of QB’s.  I remember Kizer playing miserably last year at first, then he really picked it up.  Hopefully Baker starts off quick and continues making sound decisions with the ball, because if he doesn’t, well….you know.

Let's go, boys.  Keep our season "alive" and away from the putrid negativity we're all so used to.  A win here makes so many things SO MUCH BETTER!  Hit that deep ball to Callaway.  Return that INT for a TD.  Catch that 3rd down pass in the 1st quarter (ahem, Njoku).  Finish those goal lines play with a TD, and force them into settling for FG's.  And win the game.

As a season progresses teams adjust. Garret had a good game.in the rain..Look for the Steelers.to run sweeps his way and break him down.

The Steelers were on track to close.the game early, then the Browns got crazy, crazy, lottery lucky .

Dorsey royally fahked the Browns and Baker with perhaps the worst WR crew in the NFL.

If Hue doesn t call a lot of deep.stuff early, I sat Baker will.get.destroyed maybe injured.

Coaching turmoil, no playmakers. You have a recipe.for disaster.

I know, Ghoolie, I know. It's not lookin good whatsoever, and I'm just hoping we get a good performance by our OL and maybe Watt comes down with the flu, lol.

That last film review article on Baker made me feel both better and worse. Better because our offense DEFINITELY had multiple schemed ways to get receivers open for big plays. The bad part was, Baker not only missed these opportunities, he didn't even attempt the THROW. Now I don't expect any QB, let alone a rookie, to execute every play perfectly, but open, chunk plays aren't that common, and that's exactly what our team desperately requires to succeed. Furthermore, our offensive scheme implements complex, deep route combinations, and these are the type of plays our QB will have to make in order for us to be successful.

To your point about no weapons, Baker leads the league in drops on 3rd down. Awesome. Just awesome. Even last week when drops almost weren't an issue, they still killed us. Why? Because we had one very early, perhaps our first drive, on a 3rd down by Njoku. It wasn't an easy catch, but it hit both of his hands and was a perfectly thrown ball. Drop, punt, give up points. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I find it laughable that people keep saying, "We don't need to sign a WR because Higgins is coming back!" Listen, I love Higgins, but if anyone is counting on him being the answer to our WR woes, they may want to think again. We traded Josh Gordon and completely screwed our rookie QB. That's just how it is. We got a fifth rounder for him, and I'm guessing we're going to spend more than that to get a viable receiving option. We don't have any WRs who can jump up and make a contested catch in traffic. Please see the Chargers game for examples of what I mean. Their guys jump up and catch deep passes despite good coverage. If our guys tried that, we'd die of laughter.

So many things have to go right in order for us to win. Ben has only been sacked 9 times this year, BUT the Steelers are starting their backup RT. We need pressure, turnovers, and POINTS off them. We need to sustain drives on offense and finish them with TDs. Chubb needs to be effective and help to set up our play-action attack. And don't get me started on penalties. Can't have them.

They've won more Super Bowls than anyone.  You all look like a bunch of whiny assholes. Some of you make me ashamed to be a Browns fan.

We've got more championships. We were clearly as good as them seven weeks ago, we should be better this time around.

Browns have 8 championships.  Cleveland overall has 13.  Call us when Pittsburgh catches up even halfway to that.

And here is my usual mantra:   the only titles that count are the last one and the next one.  ONLY the Philadelphia Eagles have any cause to talk about being Champions.  Everything else is history from the 1920 Akron Pros to the team that won the title the year before the Eagles.  (and I guess that was the Pats.).  What the Steelers did 10 years ago o r40+ years ago is no better than what the Browns did in winning any titles they have.  It is mere history.

Are you sure?  That looks like Ghoolie WITH a few more teeth, a lot more hair and a couple less chins.  Why am I getting the feeling there's a Charles Chips delivery truck adventure we need to learn a lot more about?

And the browns wanted so much to be like the Steelers.

We hold the yellow pee.

You hold the brown poop! SH

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

nah, as Browns fans, we're smarter- we used the outhouses at the tailgate.

Were it not for antonio brown, you would have been in the basement of the division

each year.

Things are really looking up for the Browns. Browns by a field goal? or by three touchdowns?

Browns will win.

Eh...don't be so disappointed.  There are plenty of good browns fans that share your mindset.

I'm sure that many Steeler fans would behave the same way if they lived only to see the Steelers be the browns bitches for the last 30 yrs.

Threads dedicated to bashing the Steelers and their fans are psychologically "a way out", an escape from the grips of this inferiority complex. Bungle fans do exactly the same thing.

I happen to find it entirely amusing...except they need newer material for crying out loud!

Here's one! LOL

Image result for steelers suck
