Flynn was paid a visit by the FBI at the White House and he was told he didn't need to have an attorney present so Flynn thought he was having a chat with a couple of nice FBI fellers (Peter Strzok was one) and he gave them a tour of the White House. The FBI had gone there to try to trap Flynn into saying something they could use against him but when the FBi agents reported back to now fired Andy McCabe they said they didn't believe Flynn intentionally tried to lie to them. When Mueller is appointed special prosecutor he charges Flynn with lying to the FBI anyway and Flynn goes into huge debt with legal bills finally having to sell his house. He finally agrees to plead guilty to make the case go away because of financial reasons as well as rumors are they were threatening to go after his son. this is called Prosecutor abuse of power and a special counsel has almost unlimited power. He was charged with crimes from a dozen years ago (nothing to do with Trump and Russian collusion) that prosecutors didn't prosecute him over 12 years ago but now under Mueller they resurrect these 12 year old charges to put the squeeze on Manafort to give information on Trump. Again this is all about getting Trump and doing anything possible to take him out. Even the federal judge told the Mueller prosecutors they were not fooling him about prosecuting Manafort, that they didn't care about Manafort this was all about getting Trump.
