THE BROWNS BOARD

Rigged? Browns getting screwed by refs

Funny, I randomly came across this video today and watched it. I was surprised to see how ANGRY I was afterwards. I mean, Jesus.

Now, for as much bullcrap as I spew, you'll never hear me seriously say that our team is the victim of game-rigging. Are we cursed? Yeah, I've said that and I believe it to some extent. It's the only solution for the dilemma we're constantly in. But the NFL doesn't benefit by perpetually screwing over the Browns, and I don't believe in any league conspiracy. We're simply victims of never having any luck, and to me, that's a curse.

It's funny though watching some of the same people that said back then that the refs didn't matter no being up in arms about unfair refs

where is the proof? refs don't matter? nobody has said that? or the same people ....

what same people said refs don't matter, and also said "...unfair refs." ?

Rob'in Robbie needs a Todd Haley hug.. I know most don't like Todd Haley... but Haley was right on most our 'lack of respect flags'.. "when your as young as most of these Browns teams have been? what respect? a) Winslow-young b) Does Haden draw that call? a young McFadden sure does.. c) T.Pryor- as bad as the browns teams have been? you drop a ball over nobody.. d)Duke-young? wheres the veteran team captain on the field? e) what if a young Garrett does not move along with the tackle? f) Baker-another young rookie QB caught in a slide used as a excuse...  Honestly, I think Baker gets fined again by the NFL for talking bad refs calls... Not our money, but the kids gotz some gonads to change this culture talking up now..

There is zero doubt that the NFL is rigged, In no way would they leave a BILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS not end the way they want it to, The shit is scripted and that's where the refs come in, I mean don't anybody find it funny how the refs cover their cocksuckers while talking to each other? How many times have we seen just flat out insane calls that have no explanation ? They have most of us hooked and that is all that matters to them, Keep the masses occupied,  NFL and WWE are pretty much the same shit, But hey I can't think of anything I would rather be doing then watching The Browns as I do love the sport but also know it is fixed.

That 4th down call still getting to you I see.       Crables hit on Troy is probably up there.

I don't believe the NFL is rigged. Even in the video they state they don't believe the NFL is rigged but the NFL has a problem with bad and plainly wrong calls that affect the outcomes of games. The NFL is not fully taking advantage of camera technology and they need to start doing it ASAP. Just about every play should be review able and terrible calls need to be reversed. Rule of thumb anything close goes to the refs on the field but obvious wrong penalties need to be reversed and no games should be decided by bad calls. That is my take as a long time football fan who gets as upset as anyone else with bad calls.

Too bad this guy is no longer available to us from WWE to play LT. Just needs to occupy a space to get around @ 7'4" 520 lbs.

Really?  And who's all in on this "caper"?   The NFL, major casinos and sportsbooks, executives, middlemen, NFL owners, FO, coaches, the secretaries, players, all of the hundreds of officials, players, ticket takers, the beer hustlers..... maybe it goes all the way up to Trump, yeah that's it goes all the way up.....biggest conspiracy since who killed JFK.

In this Internet, Facebook, Twitter instant news era this would leak out in 10 minutes and the NFL would be screwed!  Their already shrinking viewership would evaporate to nothing, did you know that the last 5 Superbowls had decreasing ratings?  Did you know in 2019 that they emailed EVERY player and employee about the betting policies and the death penalty for violations?

Ever heard of Pete Rose, Paul Hornug, Alex Karras and those were just for placing bets.

Oh yeah the zebras all all in on this caper and huddle on field with a dozens of cameras watching their every move and meetings after EVERY game judging their performances.

Oh and it isn't a billion dollar business it's a mult-billion dollar business and they are going to risk it on trying to screw the BROWNS, right.

Conspiracies? Try something easier like Bigfoot, UFOs, men from Mars, Santa Claus, are coffee prices rigged, whatever.  Oh the NFL betting policies the brief overview... don't worry I didn't rig it:.

https://www.thelines.com/nfl-gambling-policy-2019

A BIG BETTING REMINDER

The league said the NFL is committed to maintaining game and spells out in detail what is and isn’t allowed in the document.

“Gambling, particularly betting on NFL games or other sports, presents risks to the integrity of our competition and team cohesion, and can undermine the confidence and trust of our fans and colleagues in America’s greatest game. We therefore owe it to our fans and everyone associated with the League to take all appropriate steps to safeguard our game against possible threats from illegal gambling as well as gambling in a legal, regulated context.”

To make the point clear, the policy notes this about various gambling-related activities from match-fixing to fantasy football:

  • No illegal gambling including offshore or in states without legal sports betting.
  • No gambling in any form on any NFL games at all including through third parties.
  • Players must always give a “best effort” in any game to avoid any impropriety.
  • Offering inside information or tips on a team or game is banned.
  • Personnel may not visit or enter a sportsbook during the season.
  • No wagering is allowed in any form in any club or league facility.
  • Players may not promote any kind of gambling entity.

Also, employees and owners may not own a share in any casino or entity with revenue from sports betting. That doesn’t apply, however, to mutual fund shares and other “passive investment” holdings........ CONTINUED IN THE LINK, don't worry I didn't rig it either.

As I've noted now a bunch, the problem is that NFL referees simply have no incentive to do better. I also don't believe there's a big coverup, but I don't see how someone can honestly logically look at how games are reffed and not go "hmm" to why certain teams are so closely watched compared to others. It's just a statement of fact really. However, these mofos are protected by Goddell and their Union so they don't have to do better. Honestly, it's quickly made me so much less interested in watching games outside the Browns for how lousy calls are and how they impact the game.

There have been many more obviously incorrect calls, even just in that first game you referenced

Anyway, a lot of Browns fans are OSU fans. So in one breath I can hear something about how the refs don't matter and in the next I'll hear the refs are killing us.

It's funny, the blind irony.

I've just seen so much worse that I'm not freaking out about these calls on the Browns

That is largely true, a lot of "referee insecurities" started with the original increased use of replays and with great HD slo-mos and now with challenges and reviews on PI and the like it's past time to address it and use the modern technology available today plus whatever training is necessary to make things better......not perfect.

And then hopefully all of this referee hysteria and conspiracy crap will die down and go away....... hopefully.

No I don't watch FOX News.

Seriously though I can't see anyone pulling something like this off and risking the NFL brand maybe forever.  If people thought the games were fixed in any way the viewership and TV money would dry up real quick and the money is the life blood of any show.  No money no show.

And would the referees risk a $200,000++ /year part-time job for a stunt like this AND a lifetime ban?  Or the players risk millions? Would the owners risk ruining their billion dollar franchise?  No.

Well they might do it in Hollywood.   Maybe.

To all of those out there who say the NFL isn't/can't be rigged, all one has to do is look at the story of Tim Donaghy and point shaving in the NBA to see how a ref can be influenced to change the outcome of a game in any major league sport.

Oh....the NFL can be rigged.  But I don't think it has been, not really. I do think that possibly there is some kind of subliminal bias involved however.  Teams that have done well over the years seem to always get the benefit of the doubt.....those who have not done well do not.
