I don't think many people realize just how disastrous a world wide flu pandemic like this can be. Every family should stock up on supplies that are recommended to keep on hand in case of a flu pandemic.

Can you imagine if the Dems had their way with OPEN BORDERS?

More too things, I saw something else along these lines some time back, not likely to find it again though as it's been too long ago.

CORONAVIRUS: STATE EMERGENCY ANTI-EPIDEMIC SYSTEM IN DPRK

Many countries are taking emergency measures amid the daily increasing uneasiness and concerns of the international community over the recent rapid spreads of the novel coronavirus.
In the wake of the emergency measure taken by the Party and state, the Non-Permanent Central Public Health Guidance Committee of the DPRK declared that the hygienic and anti-epidemic system will be switched to a state emergency anti-epidemic one till the danger of the novel coronavirus infection disappears.
The emergency anti-epidemic headquarters have been formed in Pyongyang and provinces, cities and counties to concentrate all the efforts on thoroughly checking the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Most health experts will tell you we are past due for a flu pandemic on par with the disastrous one we had 100 years ago. I don't know if this coronovirus will be the big one or not but I know it is really serious and not to be taken lightly. Every family should have preparations made for a potential flu pandemic. When it happens there will be quarantines and likely empty store shelves. People should have stored away a food, water and medicine supply that would last a few weeks in a worst case scenario.

Just heard on TV that the odds of dying of this corona virus are 1 in 50, whereas the normal flu is 1 in a thousand.  Also this virus does not behave like a normal virus, and is much more dangerous than the flu.

Another thing that concerns me is that a person can have the virus without symptoms for up to two weeks and go about infecting others without even knowing it. This means all of our screening of people coming into the country for symptoms is likely not effective as we might think.

apparently up to 75,000 could be infected in Wuhan, expected by scientific model to..

DOUBLE every SIX DAYS ???

er... 75,000 x 6 is....

that would be....2.4 MILLION? in a month?

egad. that isn't good, if true.

I don't believe China has been real honest about what is really going on either:

Coronavirus task force another example of Trump administration's lack of diversity

200130051233-trump-obama-sit-room-split-

Washington (CNN)It's a statement that's as predictable as it is infuriating: President Donald Trump's administration lacks diversity.

On Tuesday, Trump tweeted photos of a briefing he'd received on the new coronavirus spreading out of China.
"We will continue to monitor the ongoing developments," the President said in his post. "We have the best experts anywhere in the world, and they are on top of it 24/7!"
Who are these experts? They're largely the same sorts of white men (and a couple women on the sidelines) who've dominated the Trump administration from the very beginning.
By contrast, former President Barack Obama's circle of advisers in the face of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa was hardly so monochromatic. Neither was it so abysmal in terms of gender diversity. (Of course, to contextualize, Obama's administration, on the whole, was far more diverse than Trump's.)
And yet, as unsurprising as the diversity issue in the Trump era has become, it's still worth pointing out from time to time, especially as the country approaches the 2020 presidential election in earnest.
That's partly because the recent photos of "the best experts" telegraph the kinds of people the administration deems worthy of holding power -- and even being in close proximity to it.
They communicate a "patronage network that everyone is operating under," as Eric Yellin, an associate professor of history and American studies at the University of Richmond, told The Washington Post last year, about a different set of photos. "Having that network be interracial is really important."
But the visuals that have come to define the Trump administration say something else, too. They signal which people in a multi-racial, half-female country Trump values the opinions of: mostly white men who are mirror images of the President himself.

Experts may know how deadly coronavirus has been transmitted

Coronavirus may transmit through digestive tract, report finds

The novel coronavirus that has sickened thousands globally may transmit through the digestive tract, specifically the fecal-oral route, according to a report.

Scientists from the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University and the Wuhan Institute of Virology of the Chinese Academy of Science recently discovered “virus genetic material” in stool samples and rectal swabs from some patients, Chinese state media reported, according to Bloomberg.

CHINA SEES BIRD FLU OUTBREAK NEAR CORONAVIRUS EPICENTER: REPORT

Some patients infected with the novel coronavirus, 2019-nCoV, had reported diarrhea when they first fell ill, and not a fever, which has been a more common sign of the pneumonia-like illness. The finding is significant because researchers have largely focused on transmission via respiratory droplets from an infected person.

The first of the now 11 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the U.S. had suffered from diarrhea before falling ill with the disease, according to Bloomberg.

HOW ARE US HOSPITALS PREPARING FOR CORONAVIRUS?

In general, human coronaviruses most commonly spread through the air, close contact with an infected person, and touching a surface infected with the virus before touching your face with dirty hands. However, fecal contamination is another possible way to transmit human coronaviruses, albeit rare, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As of Monday morning, there were six cases of the novel coronavirus in California, one in Arizona, one in Washington state, one in Massachusetts and two in Illinois. No deaths have been reported in the U.S. and the large majority of cases still remain in China.
