THE BROWNS BOARD

Landry, Higgins, Hodge and DPJ Out for Jets

Darnold has more INTs than TDs and we're going to need our defense or special teams to pick up some slack today. Maybe we can get a fumble-scoop TD, a pick 6, or even a blocked FG score or something crazy. SOMEONE will have to pick up the slack today because we are GOING to struggle today, especially on 3rd down. I just can't see us consistently moving the ball down the field, I just don't. I can't think of any team that can literally lose all of their WRs the day before the actual effing game and be OK on offense.

We can try to spread out our TEs (like we normally do), and we can also continue to flare Hunt out, but we are going to be extremely limited as to what we do offensively. The Jets are extremely good at shutting down the run, and we don't have Teller OR Hubbard. Yes, Quinnen Williams is out (thank God), but we're not going to be able to run the ball like we want to...I can almost promise you. Why? Because the Jets are going to put 38 defenders in the effing box, that's why.

If we try to run on 1st and 2nd down and we get stuck with a 3rd and long, that drive is probably toast. The Jets held the Rams to just 2-11 on 3rd down last week, and they had their WRs. We don't have a single WR playing today who caught a pass from Baker this year. I'm honestly not sure what we're going to do, and the biggest problem is that we're going to HAVE to score because our defense is totally effed with the loss of our starting linebacker Goodson, AND his backup Phillips.

I wish I had better news. This sounds like a bad dream, that on the eve of playing the worst team in the league and locking up a playoff berth for the first time in almost 20 years we lose so many players and the practice squad guys don't even have time to practice with the offense. Zero reps. Zippo.

Let's do this! 😂😂

Time to overcome adversity.

They've been doing it all year for us in spite of several injuries/illnesses; so here's to a little practice makes perfect with overcoming adversity.  Unlike so many of our previous teams that looked for the 1st excuse to quit - this one hasn't quit.

Who are these guys? Cleveland Browns field totally new WR corps

https://dawgpounddaily.com/2020/12/27/cleveland-browns-field-totally-new-wr-corps/

Marvin Hall is the only professional wide receiver not removed from the roster. However, Hall has not taken any game snaps for the Browns, having just come over from Detroit. Getting cut by the Lions is not exactly a compliment, but it is possible to understand how a player could get in trouble there. Still, it’s not clear how much of the playbook he actually knows.

Ja’Marcus Bradley, an undrafted rookie wide receiver from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns. He had previously been elevated to the Cleveland Browns active roster and saw game action against the Tennessee Titans, but was not targeted by Baker Mayfield and did not record any stats.

Bradley was promoted from the Browns practice squad under a new rule which allows up to two practice squad players to be promoted for up to two games without being counted against the 53 player limit. He was then they can be returned to the practice squad without having to clear waivers. Bradley is getting his shot this week because KhaDarel Hodge is banged up with an uncooperative hamstring.

The Browns have added wide receiver Derrick Willies, who was with the team in 2018. Willies did make a very positive impression in a short time, both on special teams as well as on offense, where he had a true shot at becoming a third wide receiver. In fact, he caught some big-time passes from Baker Mayfield in the thrilling 12-9 overtime win against the Baltimore Ravens that season.

Injuries set him back, however, and it has taken him this long to make it back to the practice field. The immense advantage is that he and Mayfield know each other very well. Is he still the same player that he was in 2018? That remains to be seen.

Other wide receivers? Hello Kareem Hunt and David Njoku. Don’t laugh. In the past, the Browns have split them wide from time to time. Plus, Cleveland has plenty of plays that they can operate from two-tight end formations, and in the past, they have split Kareem Hunt and David Njoku wide from time to time.

It’s not an ideal situation. But the Jets have to face Chubb, Hunt, and all those tight ends plus Baker Mayfield and that is not exactly a bed of roses for a team that is 1-13.

In any case, Browns fans, you are just not allowed to panic when the opponent is 1-13. It’s just not allowed. It will be fun to see how this plays out.

heh heh heh.......and you are surprised.......this team will never ever see the superbowl....they will be lucky to see the playoffs....even with an extra team, we won't get in....

They have 8 "Super Bowl"  Championships.

Since "Super Bowl" is just a marketing gimmick, we can call every championship game played in history a "Super Bowl".

I think you stretch all three TEs at different points.

Shefty just reports us doing a walkthrough in our hotel parking lot in NJ with all TEs learning WR routes/assignments.

Great!!! Creates a different challenge for a DB.  All three are very athletic too.  You may see some PIs from the Jets trying to get around wider bodies.

Throw in Kareem Hunt too.

don’t discount Hall either he’s a burner
