But if it's so deadly and widespread why do some of the guys get all snotty when I suggest that they should be much more stringent about the practice? For instance we know that it gets into the lungs and the eyes. So what I suggest everyone also wear a face shield and change the double layer mask often during the day sanitize their hands every time they touch anything they get pissed off at me? Or even stay home and get your s*** delivered? Because it's basically a symbol.

No... There's a cost benefit analysis to do here. It's fault logic to say "well, of you take this precaution, then why don't you just stay home and never go anywhere!" 

"Oh, you think everyone should wear seatbelts? Then why not just never drive a car!"

 

Wearing a mask will ultimately help save lives and it's the easiest thing to do. If it was adopted more widespread earlier (instead of the "mah freedoms" crowd having a fit) less people would have caught it and died.

So,  unless as I suspect that you just want the issue not the solution, if everybody stayed home and had their shit delivered (or adopted my other precautions) would more people or less people die? And how substantial would that difference be? Pretty simple question.

Mandates? hell no. A gov that has the authority to mandate, has the authority to disarm it's citizenry, throw them into internment camps, etc etc etc.

Look at history - socialism does NOT work. So, when it fails, what is the government to do? That gov goes full authority ruthless to stay in power.

Most countries don't fear bioweapons because they haven't had to face them. So most of the world was vulnerable to the gain of function modified bat virus and the spread of it all over the world ensued.

   But we are America. We will never live in an Australian/communist/etc government dominated situation.

Right now, our country is badly, badly divided. We could fall into gov overreach and despair. But the idea of living in a country with a gov that has the power to mandate? nope. Look at Australia, then look at us, and do a cost/benefit analysis on freedom. Freedom will win.

If Biden is out and about with a cold and no mask then screw him, he should know better.
