This is the first Browns game I have watched since the Dec 11 Bungles game as my daughter and her fiancé were home from Australia for Christmas.

Of course there will forever be critics of Watson, it was a bad throw. But he has played well for the most part.

Yes, he's made good throws and has alluded the rush pretty well today.

But he can't make that interception there. That's a momentum changer.

Just an early speculation, but re: the TD given up.

When we have certain cover 3 calls, you check on who is following (alert) the seam between either the LB or the S.  I mentioned that the Seahawks do this with their safeties, they call it 'soft' sky.    At the expense of removing your curl/flat defender.  It's a coverage trade-off/gamble like anything else.

But if that was between A.J. Green and Johnny J, then we saw this earlier the season. The Bengals just couldn't connect being that Myles was fucking Burrow and their Jonah Williams up and down the field.   I held onto these screen shots just in case, because I had a feeling it might come up again.

If the seam bends this route to the sideline, the 1/3 CB can sometimes get under it provided he isn't being caught flat footed like above.  In this particular trips, it's highly unlikely you'll get any soft sky call because of that flat throw being so easy to snag.   So you'd have your backer carry this down the seam a bit and then feel for underneath recovery.

Either way, it's an example of how we have players that just lack calls to fundamental awareness and execution on this defensive call against seam routes/throws.

we had 2 timeouts left at 15 seconds.. lost 7 seconds to spike the ball & a play.. with 1 timeout left to kick FG
