CLEVELAND — Tonight's Cleveland Guardians game against the *(Detroit Tigers) at Progressive Field has been postponed.

The Guardians have announced that the game will be made up on Friday as part of a traditional doubleheader. The first pitch for Game 1 will be at 4:10 p.m. Only fans with tickets to the August 18 contest will be able to attend.

Before Kenny Lofton, Alex Cole was the Indians speedy, stolen base merchant who played centerfield and lead off. In 1990 he came up in July and played so well that the team literally moved the fences back drastically in Cleveland Stadium to take advantage of his speed. In 63 games, he hit .300, had an on base percentage of .379 and stole 40 bases. He would hit .295 with an OBP of .386 and 27 stolen bases the following season, but would get phased out in 1992 by the emergence of Kenny Lofton. 

Two days after he turned 58, Cole passed away. Sad news to read.

Hershiser’s ex-battery mate Sandy Alomar Jr. was behind the plate to receive the throw.

The Dodgers jumped in front after Cleveland right-hander Xzavion Curry allowed three runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Will Smith and a two-run double by Max Muncy. José Ramírez answered with a solo home run, his 19th, in the bottom of the first off Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw to cut L.A.’s lead to two.

Kershaw struck out the side in the bottom of the second, but grounds crew members immediately rolled out the tarp and covered the field after he whiffed Brayan Rocchio at 7:46 p.m. Heavy rains arrived at the park about 25 minutes later as pools of water formed on the outfield warning track and in front of Cleveland’s dugout.

The game was officially suspended at 9:23 after a delay of more than an hour and a half.

so ill add some gas for this thread -even though the seasons looking bleak for the tribe. 

but some really great weather (finally) i went out to watch the guys for game 2. 

bottom 1st - Williams just looked off -finding out he had sore knees. And man his delivery was 

showing it. a couple pitches bouncing into Naylor and before you know it, a bases loaded 

opportunity for Royce Lewis. ( chance for 3rd Grand slam in as many games)

but a pop out to 2nd ended it. We went on with some great relief from the pen, and the usual base running to set up the 

runs following Bo Naylors 2nd inning solo shot to right. 

stayed til the eighth and listened to the rest on the way home. 

this is a well managed team and the prospects of losing Francona to retirement is well, huge. 

I hope that he stays in organization after he gets through what looks like an  incredible amount of rehab back to some 

kind of normalcy. 

But as far as September goes - I still have faith.   a complete twins collapse with a Guardians win streak and Detroits

fizzle puts us back in the post season. 😁

Wells thats my plan anyways ...
