so yeah- let's play the #1 the ranked team on the road for an opening game. The schedule makers stuck it to the Browns royally for that one...  I was hardly surprised the Browns got smoked....

I actually liked that we had to play against arguably the toughest team on our schedule week 1. Instead of potentially losing to an average team. The team woke up and responded to that loss.

  2. Well coached and executed game. A few predictable/bad playcalls here and there such as a run on a 3rd and 1 where a PA would’ve been nice. Defensively, we sat back in coverage on a long 3rd and goal and let Haskins calmly find Inman.

Solid performance all around from the defense. Good coverage from Mitchell and Goodson. Nice INT by Malcolm Smith. Great hit and INT from Karl Joseph. Defensive line depth is impressive.
Offensive line is among the best in the league. TE room is great. WRs are great. RBs are great..and Baker is the franchise QB.

Also, I don’t recall so many hardcounts in a game.

They have two good running backs and are up,  run the ball  run the clock add points don't turn over the ball.

Easy to say when Bake is attacking and doesn’t put the proper air under a pass and throws an INT.  Not a bad playcall, just bad execution. Baker’s lone mistake on a solid night. Let’s hope for a clutch bounce back after a Bengals score..

  4. In case anyone was wondering who “Jackson“ is:

DE Joe Jackson (6-5, 258 lbs) - Jackson was a 5th round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2019. As a rookie last year, Jackson played in 5 games, registering 4 tackles. Jackson was Dane Brugler’s23rd-ranked edge rusher in last year’s class, saying the following about him:

A two-year starter at Miami, Jackson lined up at right defensive end in the Hurricanes’ four-man front. He was consistently productive in his three seasons at Miami and was one of only seven active FBS players in 2018 with at least 24.0 career sacks. Although his take-on and placement skills are subpar, Jackson is a power rusher who wins with body-to-body combat. He flashes quickness, but isn’t a burst player and there isn’t anything diverse or creative about his rush sequence. Overall, Jackson rushes tall and stiff with little semblance of a back-up plan, but he is naturally powerful with the length and baseline traits to develop into an NFL starter in the right situation.

And the offense is night and day. I see the offense gelling. Hope has been restored tonight.

our defense is wildly inconsistent. We need injured guys to heal up

    burrow looks good

We also need to be able to win games when our defense is healing up. That’s what it’s gonna take to become a winner. Baker needs to be great.

On 92.3 The Fan, a caller said he knew Kareem Hunts brother. Talked to the brother and he said Kareem called him Sunday night absolutely pissed off. Kareem said the locker room is done with Baker, they all think he sucks. Interesting tidbit.

Baker needs to hear something like that. In all honesty. Wake TF up..

I have a feeling that interception killed him. First drive of the season and he gets baited by the largest human on earth.

it took Lamar Jackson over 4 weeks of camp to throw his first interception and it took Baker just 4 minutes.

I agree. And then a fake punt after... reeks of desperation.. just a wonky start.
Lamar really is just built different. I’m not sure who can stop that offense.

"We have the players, and we have the coaches,” Chubb said. “We just have to put it together. There is no excuse for us with who all is on our team to go out there and put up one touchdown. That is unacceptable. We know it, we accept that, and we are looking to get better.”

    ~Nick Chubb~

This is all I have heard from the team since it has been back... Why are we still waiting?

We haven’t been this good offensively in 20 years. Chubb is speaking facts. He is trying to speak it into existence.
Nick is also a Batman fan, and the night is darkest just before dawn, folks.
