Fuck Mike Tomlin. Even though he is having success well after the Cowher era, I think any coach could find success after inheriting Cowher's players. I think even Hue Jackson would have had sustained success inheriting that roster. Stef took an absolute turd of a roster and franchise and turned it into a potential Super Bowl contender this year and possibly a perrenial playoff contender for years to come. Although I do worry about our salary cap situation.

We have an owner willing to spend above the cap for now, so we won’t be hurting for awhile on the cap front - unless it doesn’t increase as much as the browns FO are expecting to it. The restructures they do basically let em go above the cap, and it’ll work as long as the salary cap increases every year.

For Stefanski, yea he’s a gem…for once we have a coach that so many teams would take over their current guy in a heart beat if they could.

Yeah, I'd definitely disagree that Tomlin isn't a top coach. It sucks, but the teams the Steelers have fielded post Big Ben have been well below average and to achieve a winning record is a tip of the cap.

With that being said, the playoff record is going to catch up to him to your point. 4 straight losses in the playoffs going back to 2016 and the last two weren't even close games.

He is a bit too much of a players coach sometimes, but it’s impossible to argue with his results overall.

His loyalty to shitty quarterbacks just because of the draft spot (Pickett) and the money spent (Trubisky) looks pretty dumb if Rudolph continues to play competently against the ravens practice squad.

I don’t know about the Matt Canada stuff, seems like they may have been hobbled by painfully stupid quarterbacks.

Ben was shot by the end, his reconstructed arm was a noodle - so even his final years were subpar QB play.

@Orion look at the snap counts on PFR. Both Tillman and Bell's increased significantly in the 2nd half of the season, which obviously skews their stats for the whole season. I have been kind of meh about both Moore and Goodwin since their acquisition, but you know how much Stef and Berry love their speed guys and I suppose you have to have at least one of those. Anything beats the 'Schwartz that shall not be named further!'

So with Tillman and Bell behind Coop, along with Goodwin, on top of 3 TEs and a couple of backs to throw to, I am happy with the targets Joe has at his disposal.

The running game is a far greater concern, which is probably largely due to our degraded Line due to all the injuries. That's why I have been beating the dead horse about the possible signing of an addition.

    You and me both!

Goodwin is a massive disappointment, expected a lot more from him. Especially now with Flacco dicking it vertically every other throw you’d think the speed guy would get separation more often.

I kinda wish we had DPJ with Flacco, I think he’d be a bigger contributor than Tillman - he can get jump balls and finish his routes.

So, I'm going on the assumption that we will be playing at Jacksonville.

Only if the Jags win, otherwise it’ll be at Indy or Houston barring a tie.

  5. Anytime one of these names comes up people always remember their best seasons but not their most recent ones for some reason. I guess the same would be true for Landry, who worked out for teams and failed to make a roster.

It seemed the same with Shaquille Leonard when the colts dropped him, except going to Philly seemed to give him some kind of resurgence.

Me too KD!  The trouble is - what OL worthy of helping a playoff team are unemployed right now?  On the other hand, there may be some promising practice squad guys we could give this type of opportunity to.

Well we did just sign a vet guard for depth apparently:

1.) If your putting this team at risk of playing a possible future Playoff home game? Than, Yes ! this team has something to still play for.

2.) Fuck the Steelers ! 😁 I'm already tired of hearing this media circle jerk on Mason Rudolph being team savior.. Ravens at home with backups ? So what.. Beat Tomlin and throw Mason & Pickett both under the year end Bus Lane in the Pen

The Steelers are in like their own couch/holcomb thing or something, hopefully they follow the rest of our 20 year path.

:) My POV...  The answers are no and no. We're not demoting any of our guys... Ford, Hunt, or Strong for a guy just a lookin' for a home whose production nose dived.

Cook's 3.2 ypc is marginally better than Hunt's 3.0. but I doubt Berry is interested in bringing in a marginal talent for negligible improvement on the roster. We're NOT cutting Hunt (who knows the playbook and is a terror on short yardage) for a guy off the street.

Really, this Cook love is almost as bad as some guys thinking we should give the (now pretty washed up) Jarvis Landry a ring.  🙄

I’d be happier with a Landry signing than a Cook one tbh, our guys besides Cooper and Moore and Njoku have pretty pathetic numbers, and old Landry could give us a couple big first down catches or something, or somebody else doesn’t have to be him (Rashard Higgins?)

Yeah, Joe doesn't seem to be the type that needs a $50 million house,  a million dollar boat, and ten high end cars.  😉

FWIW, easy enough to research... His place in Delaware is worth around $2 million.  :)

    image.thumb.png.b7b3edf3c6cae3c069c14ec92412016a.png

After his first couple games before joining the active roster I believe he made a comment like he didnt even know how much the browns had paid him to that point.

And the whole thing started apparently with a photo that seemed to show him flying economy class to Cleveland.

The man seems absurdly careful with his money despite earning boat loads of it from Baltimore. I’m sure his dividends net him more than whatever the vet min with incentives the browns are paying him.

  10. The people who want cook who do we clear to make room for him? Probably don’t wanna run 4 RBs on the roster. Ford and Hunt aren’t losing spots, and neither is Strong since he’s a huge part of the special teams.

Just don’t think there’s anything for us to gain from him, he’s not the guy he was a few years ago.

Bengals website... "Try to win this game by any means necessary"...  Great- play all your starters just to say you had a winning record in an otherwise meaningless game?  And in the process maybe follow the Dolphins cue (Bradley Chubb) and lose Chase Young (or someone similar) to a blown ACL... I'm sorry to report- (from a Browns perspective) winning that game isn't going to screw up the Bengals 2024 draft position much... They're right there sitting just above the teams that are going to be in the playoffs.

FWIW, the long range Cinci forecast is 1-3 inches of snow Saturday night, with a high around 40 and occasional snow showers during the game...

Zac Taylor is pretty dumb, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he throws his top guys to the wolves.

Yes, except (as we know) this isn't locked in YET...  Totally possible that the Bills beat Miami to take the #2 seed...  that sends the Dolphins to play KC, and the way the Chiefs are playing lately, could easily win there. The bad thing is with the Bills at #2, I don't see the Colts or Texans beating them.  Oh, and for the Steelers to make the playoffs. fat chance of a Colts- Texans tie.

One game at a time though. Not surprised that Pittsburg is favored against the resting Ravens, but I am pretty shocked that Vegas has the Browns as 6 point underdogs against the Bengals.

Probably solely based on Browning vs whatever bum practice squad QB we throw out there, otherwise I expect the bungles to be resting all their star power too.

What we found out is the Dull-phans (usually) can't beat their way out of a paper bag when they play a decent team..   Bungles gotta Bungle, and surprised the Squealers managed to win on the left coast.

Very surprised at the Steelers result…their playoff scenario is actually fairly realistic, just needing Buffalo to drop to Miami.

The bungles no surprise, what would be surprising is if they drop to our backups they will finish 0-6 in the division. Don’t think anyone would have predicted that.

  14. For me I just want all the lower seeds to win, to give us a chance at a home playoff game if we beat the afc south.

That means I want the Steelers to get knocked out since there’s 0 chance they upset anybody.

I’m cautiously optimistic about our wild card round…I think we’re better than who we’ll play.

  15. People can talk about how they’re scared of the bills or ravens…what a dumb conversation..

Every playoff game is against the good, above .500 teams. Just get it done, I really hope January Joe is not fiction… despite the injuries, nobody will beat us with a 300 yard/3td performance from quarterback in the post season. Can Flacco keep it up or will the turnovers continue is the question.

We’re there, if we want to make the final 4 it’ll be on a path through some of the toughest teams the nfl has to offer…teams we’ve proved that we can beat.

i also don’t get the “season is a success if we beat a playoff team” we’ve done that recently and it’s not worthy of any banners in browns stadium.
