Too bad The Gipper isn't around anymore to comment... Robinson had to use the NFL's version of what "violence" is, not the legal version of one. You can read the report of what was considered "violence", I'm not going to repeat it here. However, for it to be "indecent exposure" it has to be in public, but I'm not a lawyer.  :)  Yeah, it wasn't just a "massage" it was thinly veiled prostitution. But how many other NFL players have visited The Chicken Ranch or it's equivalent multiple times in the past?

And this reeks of nth degree hypocrisy Mr. Kraft.. You got off scot free...

It's still possible that Watson and the NFL reach an agreement before anything goes to court, what you've posted certainly gives the NFL motivation to do so. From what I heard on a podcast, the NFL's minimum was 12 games + fines and Watson's maximum was 8 games. Maybe they just split the difference and agree to 10 games + a smaller fine than what the NFL wanted.

Sadly, the CBA allowed for the NFL (and the NFLPA) to appeal the ruling made by the independent judge. The NFLPA tried to make it so NFL could make the initial ruling but any appeal would go to the independent judge (as it is in MLB) but they wouldn't agree to that.

I feel like the "happy medium" is for the NFL to add a fine that the two sides can agree  to on top of the 6 games. This should please the majority of the folks who thought the penalty was not enough. We have to understand that a certain number of the folks are simply never going to be happy regardless of the severity of the penalty short of a lifetime ban and that's not happening. I honestly was surprised Sue Robinson offered no fine and truly wonder if that was back channel discussion with the league to give them a fine as an out.

Just some on the other side embrace woke? Then they're stupid too, which obviously doesn't qualify me as hypocritical. The woke culture is of the left, by the left, and for the left.  It seems to me being more a case of you being in denial than of me being hypocritical.

I agree with your take media sensationalism and click bait. The media been the root for much of the discord we have today.

Overall I think we agree what is going on with the outcry in the Watson situation. Our disagreement lies in the word woke and I can respect you don’t like or agree with the term or how I’ve applied it. I haven’t and won’t call you or others stupid because we disagree. I think it’s no less wrong to directly call someone stupid when their opinion differs than it is to call a broader group “woke”.

Agree, Woke is something stupid people say, as in #staywoke, actually an old term brought back to life and used exclusively by the stupidity on the left side of the aisle.  Anyone else using it is only to mock.

Again, I don't see the woke crowd coming to Watsons aid. No whining about "racism" or him being discriminated against.

Your judging everyone using the term “woke”  as stupid is hypocritical. There are plenty of folks on the left and some on the other side who embrace and own the term woke for themselves.  That said perhaps it’s the wrong term to use here. Call it anything you like but the click bait media sensationalism and the me too crowd jumping on the bandwagon disregarding facts  are continuing to escalate this. It truly is mob frenzy.

Have any of these hot take radio phone callers, ever claimed to have wives or daughters in the professional massage business?  NO !

They hate anything to do with the Browns.. than they call the next radio show, claiming the same 💩

My sister in law is a professional masseuse. She thinks this is all a sham. As she relayed to me any true professional would never have had a second appointment if they were so horrified by the first one. If someone asked  her about a happy ending or rubbing his groin she’ would ask them to leave and never make another appointment. Every other legit pro would too.

    Maybe not until next season.

My feeling is it isn't about the number of games Watson was suspended.  It is more about how much money he will lose during the suspension.  The NFL may not appeal for more games, they make see an additional fine.

The problem is the NFL suspends for games.  Games hurt teams and fans, not players.  Losing the check is what hurts players. You start fining players based on 1/17 of their salary, then you don't have to even fool with games.  As it stands Watson will lose around $58,000 per game suspended.  Even all 17 he is out $1,000,000.

At 6 games he is out around $350,000.  I can't say that is enough compared to what other players are losing by being suspended.  The NFL may not seek a longer suspension.  They may seek to have monetary damages assessed.

100% agree. I believe the entire penalty structure needs to be changed to financial only. I say that when it’s “conduct detrimental” not for actual criminal convictions. Game suspensions penalize far to many innocents including teammates and fans. Secondly the definition needs to be far less subjective and the entire process needs to be independent of the league office.

  7. The entire independent arbitrator process is a sham. It’s purpose is completely circumvented when Goodell owns the final decision on appeal. Why the NFLPA signed off on it is beyond me. Aside from the fact he’s an ahole the woke mob pressure and tar and feather outrage crew is making this far worse. In my opinion Sue Robinson left him and out when she didn’t impose a fine. He can impose a stuff fine with no further games and look like the “good guy”.  From a Browns management standpoint I think they grossly underestimated the woke mob impact when they signed him.

At the 13th overall pick, I've got eight WRs and DEs to possibly choose from. As the process goes a few might fall off - too much of a reach for such a high pick - but here they are:

DE George Karlaftis 6'4, 275 Purdue
DE Arnold Ebiketie 6'3, 256 Penn State
DE David Ojabo 6'5, 250 TTUN

WR Garrett Wilson 6'0, 192 Ohio State
WR Chris Olave 6'1, 188 Ohio State
WR Jameson Williams 6'2, 189 Alabama
WR Treylon Burks 6'3, 225 Arkansas
WR Drake London 6'5, 210 USC

At this point I think I’d love either Burks or London. Big bodies guys who can catch. Perhaps in the 3rd I would look for a smaller speedy receiver.

so then why didnt we roll with case at some point this year ?

Exactly what should have happened. Behind the scenes I feel like there is some wierdness going on pushing them to continue starting Mayfield. Stefanski made some comments today as to he wasn’t aware of some of the things about the shoulder. What???

  10. I draft a 2nd round QB and keep healed up Baker and have a real competition. Secondly I invest heavily in receivers who can separate and CATCH. This would be top priority in the draft and free agency. I dump Hooper , keep Chief and Bryant and add another developmental move TE. Do this and give Stef the keys to the car and O one more year.

then the question becomes- why is the "organizational" group think- thinking after seeing a crippled Mayfield post back to back 50 QBR games that he's gotta play- even if it's obvious he's hurting the team?  We're not beating the Rat Birds with QB play on a college Division II level.

    100% agree

    The NFL.com take....

Maker Bayfield...  has reached a new low in his NFL career. Mayfield is clearly injured, yet he insists on gutting out his multiple ailments, and Kevin Stefanski is abiding to the detriment of his offense. Mayfield was again dreadful, completing 15 of 29 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown (a short pass in the flats to Chubb) and two interceptions. Many of his incompletions were to open receivers Mayfield simply missed, the interceptions were typically ugly, and the plays in between inspired so little confidence in Cleveland's offense as it currently exists, Browns fans rained boos down on the field -- while winning the game. Gone are the days of Stefanski's sharp, balanced and unpredictable attack. In its place is an offense stuck in 5 feet of mud with a banged-up quarterback trying to pull them out of it. Folks wearing brown and orange are seriously considering a future without Mayfield, who looks nothing like the quarterback who helped Cleveland win a playoff game last year. It's tough to evaluate him because of his injuries, but it's even more difficult to understand why the Browns aren't turning to Case Keenum just to give Mayfield a break.

MHO? Guts only get you so far... And I agree with Terry Pluto- and a bunch of others- that it was f'n STUPID to play Baker against the Lions.. You want to ride him Kev? You're Captaining the Titanic this year if you do. The last two Mayfield performances could have been equaled by some no-name third string nobody....

I’m convinced Stefanski isn’t making the final call to stick with Baker in these games. I believe post game he called the decisions an organizational one. He’s the kind of guy that would say it was his if it was.

Face it, the virus developed and released in China is here to stay, and it seems to be very adept at mutating.  We need to find a way to kill the virus.  Shots are window dressing to maybe buy some time.

A Hoorta pointed out, it is very similar to the common cold, and we haven't cracked that nut, and colds have been around for how long?  The beginning of time more or less.  We are all going to be living in masks and living life like a bunch of pussies the rest of our days.

    Fuck it.

I think at this point there is more hope in developing effective treatments for those who are hospitalized. Big progress if they can prevent the cytokine storm that kills many.

Yes the breakthrough infections will  "probably, maybe"  require additional scheduled injections until we get a grip on this worldwide pandemic, much of the world is still unvaccinated due to lack of funds.  Unlike the USA where it's free and you still have to kiss some people's ass to do the right thing.......wasn't like this during the polio outbreak, you lined up and got your shot !  Polio was eradicated !  I remember that well in the 50s I got my shot.

Let's hope that the "misinformation" spread in the early 2020 race will also be eradicated,  medical facts not election year bs.

Polio, measles, chicken pox etc, folks appreciated the vaccines. There were no protests and tin foil hat theories. If a silent whack job contingency wouldn’t have politicized this disease and vaccine it would have been the same.  I’ll never understand how it was made into a political issue in so many minds. I know bright good hearted people that just can’t get that in their heads.

What a failure of a leader Stefanski has been through this. He had the opportunity to prevent this by shutting down Baker when he got hurt instead of acquiescing to Baker's delusion that he could play.

Played just fine with All about Odell off the field. If you think OBJ’s pouting just started while Baker was injured you have your head in the sand (or somewhere)

Did I miss something? Has been out there that obj asked his father to post this video on Instagram? I agree you can't have this in the locker room and it looks awful but I'm just curious if it has been shown that obj wanted his dad to post this? The way it is being covered it seems like obj himself posted this or said something.

Seems to me a given that OBJ has said plenty internally. No chance they send him hime based solely on his Dads comments. My guess is he’s been bitching lately and when the followed up on his Dads comments he confirmed them. I’ll never understand why but this team is far better when he’s not on the field. The hell with releasing him , pay him to sit at home. I don’t want him on a team we face in a get even game.
