The oline - I don't consider that a weapon - it's throwing and catching the ball. Getting open. Landry had trouble getting open vs man to man - Hooper and Njoku - kept dropping passes, Higgins never was a get open kind of wr vs man to man - it's just that teams knew the Browns had the oline and rb's to dominate a game, so they went man to man with a weak wr crew, and went to stop the run.

So they limited the run offense, and wr's couldn't get open. Doug Dieken said as much more than once. I'm just done - frustrated. Playing Baker hurt was stupid-ass. If they wanted to move on, and get a qb more like Mahomes, fine - but sleazebucket at qb? 3 first round....

never mind. It's just me - I don't care that much about spending time watching the Browns games anymore. Have better things to do.

I beg to differ.......without a oline you aren't doing jack. Its part of your weaponry. Browns were middle of pack in drop passes and Baker was very, very inaccurate last season and I agree playing him hurt was dumb...But that's on Baker. He decided to not get surgery and ran to the press stating only HE can bench himself. HE was his own worse enemy....again.

Rather someone is a sleezebag or not...I personally dgaf...You think the Ravens fans care about Ray lewis double murder or Stoolers with Ben double rapes?  The Ratbirds had bottom receivers, line, running backs and yet their QB was in the MVP race cuz he was top 10 in passing and rushing yards....they were 7-3 before falling apart due to injuries...

    Just win

The Browns rushing attack was ranked no.4

    Enjoy your Sundays

And I ask... How many Super Bowls did Jim Kelly win... (With all of that talent).... a big.. FAT 0!

Not sure your point. Yes...he went to 4 Superbowl games and lost to some absolute historic teams...have we been to even 1? Is Kelly not in the HOF? Kosar had alot of talent around him as well but couldn't get past Elway to even make it 1 Superbowl

His record.. Or lack thereof... Speaks for itself... 2 playoff games... Whippy fizz!

In comparison to the ones I mentioned past seasons arent that much better than the Browns aif at all and most importantly the Browns are much better than them presently. Disagree? If so...which one you pick over the Browns? Jets?Jax? Wash?Texans?

  4. Just now, nickers said:

    ummm NOPE!

None of the ones I mentioned are considered Superbowl rosters...Browns are. None have been to the playoffs or even close recently...We were just 2 seasons ago. We won 8 games last year and made big moves. Washington won 7....Jets 4, Jax 3 and the Texans 4......Your opinion but respectfully disagree easily

How many times have NFL qb's completed most of their passes to their offensive linemen, eh, Whoorta? Never said have nothin about the wr's have to be like the Bengals. I've mentioned plenty of teams who understand that they have to give their qb weapons. Why don't you just have pipey downsies and watch wr's be drafted this next draft.

It's true a QB needs weapons. Baker had them...his line was top 5. top 5 rushing attack, obj, landry, hopper were all pro bowlers before they got here.Njoku is very solid...etc. We cant act like Baker was just surrounded by low level talent....

It's not about Homer glasses Larry... They have been shitty stewards of the team... Their track record... or lack thereof... Speaks for itself... THEY S U C K!

Over Dan Snyder of Washington? The Texans owner who the FBI just investigated probably? Jets owner? Kahn in Jacksonville?? Naw dude....you wrong on this one

The list of quarterbacks under contract who have been able to somehow get traded, because someone else is actually interested in them, is a pretty impressive one.

Exactly....if Baker was what his fans claim to be, teams would've snatched him up at the bargain price of 18 mill....they wouldn't risk another team getting him.

bottomline....these DCs and teams have seen the tape of him. Scouts have scouted him...experts, people with decades in the biz. They know he needs everything around him right to succeed any and he got too much mouth.

    There’s actually 3 problems.

    1) Last year on a guaranteed contract.

    2) Coming off shoulder surgery.

    3) He played poorly in his last season.

And he is way too loose with his mouth and social media...

I’m going to give you a clue Larry, since you haven’t been paying attention.

The reason teams aren’t ringing Berry’s phone is simple….THEY DON’T HAVE TO!

The Browns FO fucked up by playing both sides of the road, and now the other teams are waiting for the Browns to make a deal.

They all know Berry & Company gave Baker a guaranteed $18.8 million dollar contract, and they know the Browns are backed into a corner.

Once the Browns either buys out Bakers contract and/or gives up a draft pick Mayfield will be gone.

If Baker was elite like you think......no one would wait. They would want to beat the other team to Baker......but there's not a team in the league who is "Can't wait for Baker"......

What’s comedy is the fucking boatload of guaranteed money for this guy.

If he’s pulling in the highest salary, the results need to match…that’s the way shit goes in the real world.

He might be better than Rogers and Mahomes in your mind, but not the mind of the rational football fan.

That's called reality....People cried about Cousins' contract too. Now its nothing....so will be Watson's in a few years

Highest salaries=Best results is a joke....That's a fantasy, reality is there''s a many of people who don't work hard, few results and get paid great

Didn't say he was better than Rodgers or Mahomes....did I?

Of course some of the naysayers are going to pile on every mistake and bad game Watson has.. and they're coming, certainly.

If Baker really is Da Bomb Nickers... They WHY aren't QB needy teams ringing Berry's phone of the hook with first round offers?  The reason actually is- teams view Baker as a mid level starter, at best.  That the Saints went out and got Andy Dalton instead of Mayfield should tell you something. New Orleans opinion is Andy "I need everything perfect around me too" Dalton is a better option than Baker.

As far as "Watson's contract is crazy"...  Twas 2018 when everyone thought Cousins $80 million guaranteed was stupid crazy too.  Guaranteed  money has almost tripled in five years. (on a per year basis, Rodgers is getting more.. Bye Devante, we cant afford you with what we're paying Aaron)  I posted it elsewhere guy... Ivy League Berry isn't stupid... NFL revenue is going to go up- WAY up- over the next few years. As a subscriber, I've been following this closely.. Directv isn't going to be able to afford Sunday ticket when their contract is up with the NFL after 2022 season. Disney and Amazon already have offers on the table for DOUBLE what Direct* is paying.  Then there's the network contracts too.  I don't know when the NFL's Gravy Train is going to derail, but IMHO, it's not going to do it any time soon.  A $300 million cap number in three years isn't out of the question.  :)

    PERIOD

No the Browns gave up WAY too much for him.. He better light it up week in and week out.. NO EXCUSES!.. NONE!.. Because Berry and Haslam are basically telling us that they think He's the shit and Baker was just an after thought for them... I'm holding Watson to the highest critical standards all the village idiots held Mayfield too... I will scrutinize every little fuck up Watson makes... He deserves nothing less for what we gave up for him.. PERIOD!

That's your opinion if they gave up too much. The entire league thinks Baker is a after thought.....lol. You can be as critical as you want....that's your right as a fan. As long as Watson don't lead the league in interceptions  its cool. Other than that...meaningless. If they go to the playoffs every year for example....the FO go nowhere....PERIOD!

  13. 56 minutes ago, Canton Dawg said:

For a QB in the league that’s going to earn more money than Rogers and Mahomes, there had better be zero excuses.

Anything less than a Super Bowl victory will be a major disappointment, and if he fails to deliver DW along with AB needs ran out of town.

By the time 3 years  have gone by Watsons contract will be mid road....as in run out of town for no SB?...that's comedy. We never got there with better teams....what happens if the Browns go to AFC championship games  like Bernie, Mack, Byner, Slaughter, Brennan....etc yet not win? They ain't going nowhere no time soon unless there's a complete implosion...the AFC is the most ridiculous right now and Ive been watching since the 70s.....

Teams might want Mayfield but at a greatly reduced price as a starter  -or-  even a backup.   I guess we'll have to wait and see......the 2022 draft is only a few weeks away.

Any chance that the former #1 pick can't come to terms and sits out the season  ?     Or the quarterback hungry NFL finally come up with a deal for Mayfield and the BROWNS  ?

    Very good analysis

If not most probably a great many of the world's top quarterbacks have been what you would call  immature. Personally I don't want a guy that hangs his head and accept the kind of insulting horseshit the front office said his way. Again not the least of which your boy Watson. The reason he doesn't do commercials is probably the whorehouses to advertise on television.

And just for the record your boy got shitcan from whatever endorsements he was involved in.

    WSS

Doesn't matter....his talent outweighs his issues. That's why teams lined up after him.

Baker's talent doesn't....thus no one wants him.

    bottomline

Once again maturity TV commercials whatever bulshit you guys pull out of your ass to justify your hatred means absolutely nothing.

You're just parroting the words you heard some jack off radio guy spew.

Especially if you are licking the butt of DeShaun Watson

    WSS

No parroting needed-just pay attention.  Attacking medical staff, former coaches, local journalists, tv talking heads..etc...heck...the moron could've had a job after Watson turned the Browns down but he demanded a trade because of his feelings getting hurt. No one wants your guy for even half the price of an elite QB------ so it matters. His career is in danger.......you can go root for his mediocre ass at the USFL next year tho.....lol!!

Most likely that's true. If not... of course that means the maggots in the front office or caught between a rock and a hard place. If he does start for six games? The choice is either sandbag him and make him look bad or do their best to succeed. Choice number one no trade, nothing close. Eat the 19 million. Number to optimize for his skill-set and now that he's healthy let's say he goes 6 and 0. Front office looks like the bunch of dicks they are still eat the 19 million. But at least there's a chance someone will offer you a trade. But on the face shaving side they will have to admit but it wasn't the quarterback holding the team back and they could have gone forward with plenty more cap space and plenty more top pics.

Other option of sitting him at number three behind Smollett? That has the potential to be a circus. Unless sweat balls out. Which is another circus.

    We shall see

    WSS

No rock and a hard place. It would take a very mature and professional person to play knowing the other guy is under suspension and as soon as it's over he will start and you will be traded.

Baker is low on maturity and professionalism-and the FO knows this. Trade him....and what you get, you get, what you have to pay, you have to pay....and move on.

Moot point playing the comparison game. Truthfully I don’t feel comfortable with either but the NFL may decide that we are going to be without Watson for maybe 8 or so games.

Moving forward, One will not be our QB and the other will play QB for us for a short period of time.

    its a "discussion" board

Baker v Brisset sounds like a chefs competition on Food Network TV.

No seriously we'll just have to wait and see if/when Brisset hits the field in a BROWNS uniform.  Baker has had his tryout in Cleveland  I'm just wondering who will who would pick him, for how much,  starter or backup all that good stuff..

Brisset has the luxury of handling off the ball 🏈 off to Chubb & Co. behind a decent OL with the WR group still to be completely finalized.  Not a tough assignment  but remember Baker had that same group with mixed results    -or-   we wouldn't be having this discussion right now......right  ?

Baker Mayfield didn't exactly take the BROWNS  to the next level with any consistent results that's why we're discussing Watson/Brisset who will have the 2022 team's future in they're hands ?

SO to change up the mood of things  who do you think will win the AFCN this year  ?   Who will finish last  ?

GO BROWNS !    #1 in our hearts forever.

    yes it does!! lol

I think the Browns......only because the Ravens didn't upgrade really,  Bengals will be a close 2nd cuz they did...they got lucky alot last year, and the Steelers are starting Trubisky
