I'm less than impressed Z....  But... Unless you had your head in the sand (with apologies to Arlo Guthrie's tune- Alice's Restaurant)  when tia was posting those 8X10 color glossies with the circles and arrows highlighting Baker's short comings....  Berry and Stef obviously saw the same things... Mayfield has hit his ceiling, and the rest of the league has him figured out.

It's a LOT to give up, but if the thinking is Baker's due for a 2022 crash, we would have been QB shopping in 2023 anyway.  Watson brings as much baggage with him as all the carousels at Chicago O Hare... And the idea of a guy quarterbacking the Browns with questionable morals who whined his way out of Houston isn't my cup of tea. Oh well, the little criminal Ray Lewis forgot what happened when his posse killed a couple guys, so I guess by comparison Watson being a sex addict isn't so bad. FWIW, we already sent in our first payment for our season tickets... so that will give me a year to decide if I want to re-up. I'm not one to make snap decisions.

It's obviously Adios Baker... and I'll be mighty curious what damaged goods Mayfield will garner on the open market.

The NFL  has had alot more issues than those 2 events...

Racial discrimination,  women beating, vehicular homicide....etc.

As in alot to give....its now the way. The last 1 Superbiwl winners did this. This Browns FO is just getting with times.

On the contrary, Baker has a guaranteed contract this year which means he gets paid whether he plays or not.

Given the availability of quality FA quarterbacks (or lack there of) and an abysmal crop of QB’s in this years draft, I would say Baker has all the leverage.

I believe Jimmah’s willingness to fly down to Austin and mend fences is a clear indication of who’s holding the high ground.

The Browns are....See if Mayfieild can find a top 5 oline, defence, rushing attack with a Ameri Cooper somewhere else?Kirk Cousins can get you to a wildcard with our squad

Hopefully he will still be starting for the Browns. The Browns front office just did a crappy job trying to get somebody they knew didn't want to be here. Don't know why you picked the Lions, maybe you're just stupid but...

    WSS

Cuz that's where he's going and nothing is wrong with going after a much better guy...You can hope all u want....he ain't coming back buddy

You know, I've thought on this debacle for a day now, and here's the thing I'm struggling with more than anything. There's no doubt the landscape of the NFL is rife with elite NFL QB talent. I'm not sure in the 20+ years I've seriously watched the NFL you point at over 1/3rd of the league (which is exactly the number of QB's I have as "franchise QB" level). That includes two dudes in our own division. I'm actually not even including Prescott or someone like Mac Jones who may easily get to that level too. The vast majority of those dudes are also going to be the league for 10+ years, too.

My point is, this team showed last year it could win football games as well as showing that in 2020 despite this climate. I understand this FO wants to find a dude at the level of the guys I'm talking about above. But, the reality was that outside of courting a sexual deviant no one rises to that level in the free agent market. It is a well known secret that teams see this draft as extremely poor. Given all this, why would staying with Baker for one more season not be the obvious decision? In terms of NFL decisions, its easily the lowest risk, highest reward given the landscape of the NFL.

It leads me to believe strongly that the team and Mayfield just don't like each other, and we're at the "Flores being fired" out of Miami scenario in Cleveland.

You maybe right.....If you are the FO if you're gonna take Aaron Rodgers-level nonsense...then it better be...Aaron rodgers. Forget the league..the AFC is insane...

Every player in the NFL on every roster is always available for a trade.. this seems like a Welcome To Being A Professional, Kid moment..

Baker's emotions really are out of place in this situation.

But not surprising coming from him.......

    Editor's Picks

The trade request comes after Watson was reportedly unhappy with the process used by the team to hire Caserio in early January. If the Texans choose not to trade Watson, he could opt to not report to mandatory team activities or training camp, but at a cost.Jan 28, 2021

So thats your  boy. Now you can shop online for a Falcons jersey

    WSS

And you can go get a Lions jersey with Mayfield on the back   lol

Who said he's better than Rodgers?  Read what's there.  Mahomes is better than 90% of the NFL QBs right?  Was Mahomes drafted by a team that went to the playoffs with Alex Smith with an offensive design by Andy Reid?  Is Andy Reid still there? Imagine having a QB that has the same offense and Head Coach every single year. Is this when you want me to pretend the Owner and FO in Cleveland has been way better?  Have you taken inventory of the # of QBs that failed in Cleveland since 1999?  It's the only franchise with a T-shirt mocking the dumpster fire.

2 guys that were a big part of this team's turn-around were Jarvis Landry and Baker Mayfield.  This FO shit on both of them.  Nothing classy about it regardless of how much you think Baker is the only guy holding this franchise back.

You mentioned Lamar Jackson, I saw a night game matchup where Cleveland lost 47 to 42. That's Baker's fault Cleveland gave up 47 points?  The reason Baltimore had the ball last was because the Browns' offense grabbed the lead scoring its 6th TD of the game.  No FGs just TDs.  That's like blaming Josh Allen for Buffalo's loss to KC in playoffs.  For all the love and adoration Lamar gets in here sometimes, he's only won 1 playoff game.  Baker won a playoff game in his very 1st opportunity to do so with a 48-37 victory over Pittsburgh.  I'll take 48 points in a BIG game where our QB throws 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Before that, what was Cleveland's record vrs Pittsburgh in the playoffs?   Yeah, let's just give up multiple 1st and 2nd round picks and promising young corner Greg Newsome because Baker had the worst year of his career.  That THOUGHT right there should red flag any veteran QB about what life will be like working for Jimmy Haslam.

Again, the smart thing would have been to let the 5th year play out with opportunities to draft a QB at #13 overall (especially if QB is the only thing preventing this team from winning).  In 2020, Baker threw 26 TD to just 8 INT.  If we add his 1st playoff game of 3 TD and 0 INT to that - I see a guy this team won with even if it wasn't always "because of Baker".  Just 1 year later, he threw 4 INTs in just 1 game on Christmas and finished the year with 17 TD to 13 INT.  That's an enormous difference to throwing only 8 INTs all season.  I've seen all the videos of Baker looking blindfolded in the pocket last year.  My hope is we have a competent staff that can do for Baker what SD once did for Drew Brees (when his 1st 3 years ended with SD drafting a QB 1st overall because of growing concerns Brees' height prevented him from seeing the field well).  In season #4, Rivers held out for the duration of training camp and guess what?  Brees started and made his 1st Pro Bowl with 12 wins.  Underneath it all, the coaching staff had him seeing the field a lot better.  That's why I brought that up the 1st time I replied to you.

What now?  We're gonna need to draft a QB at #13 instead of some of the WRs we're drooling over.   Hard to believe Ohio State's BEST WR returns for another season with Marvin Harrison Jr replacing one of the gems in this year's draft.  And do you know who had trouble earning a starting spot throwing to WRs like that at Ohio State?  Joe Burrow.  That's why he had to transfer.  Should he have just QUIT? Or do what he did?

I did read and if that's not your point why would mention Rodgers not playing till his 4th year then? What point you trying to make? Maybe Baker having 4 coaches is on him? Not to mention Baker was the one who went to the FO for Kitchens.

The FO didn't shit on Baker ...they put up with his antics from day 1...attacking ex coaches, tv talking heads, local reporters, other players about their contracts, there's no telling how many stories they killed (restaurant parkinglot BJs...)-all in 4 years. Name the QB ever with that much childish antics in 4 years??...reports are he lost the locker room last year and the FO had their full endorsement to go after Watson. They got rid of Landry to once again give Baker an excuse?..it's not Baker..its the coach, its OBJ, its Hopper, its Landry......sheesh. He has led the league in interceptions since he came in-who is that on?

Out of the QBs mention you pick lamar? OK....Lamar only has 1 playoff true-but he beats us right? Did Baker play well once against him...sure? btw..don't Lamar got multiple probowls and a MVP with last year having the 32nd ranked line with 100 injuries? Probably why he gets the love. No one thinks Baker is better than Jackson man.....Baker went to the press and stated only HE controls if he plays or not through injury. Well, he bet on himself and lost.

People keep comparing him to Drew Brees...ok...I compare his talents to Kirk Cousins.

Burrows and OSU receivers?..off topic and old. Right now....look at the AFC....you wanna go into it with Baker? As in what Now? Well...Baker for one can't even pass a physical so there goes his immaturity again and where he gonna go with a top oline, top 5 rushing attack, amari cooper and a top 5 defense. A decent QB gets you a wildcard with that.

Does anyone else think DW said no to Cleveland because we didn’t draft him when we had the chance? He’s been quoted before that he hates Cleveland for doing that.

That was so long ago...alot of things have happened...we would've been out the mix immediately if that was it....we were the only AFC team in the mix
