again you stupid fuck....what defense....we were last in the league last yr on 4th down.....this yr is no different.....we had a chance to step on their throat with a 2 td lead ana them going for it on their own 24 and we did not get it done....just 1 example but you are and illiterate moron and can't read anyway so i won't point out the other really bad d plays.....see ya disco moronoΒ Β

The more I watch the NFL the more I begin to believe that the whole thing is fixed. Those were some atrocious calls.

its not fixed...its just horrible officiating.....this has been going on so long now that if it is a fix....there would have been an investigation by now...

Before we giveΒ Herbert the 2nd place medal behind Mahomes heΒ didn’t play against our top two corners…and he didn’t have our other bookend breathing down his neck.

He hit some open WRs though and snuck a few balls into coverage against our backups that I didn’t expect.

    See him in januaryΒ Β

yeah well....good qb's take advantage of theat...there are some qb's in the league that would not have taken advantage....that's what good qb's do...

Defense has struggled against bigger QB's who can create on their own or when things break down.Β  Β  Honestly, that's the only time they've struggled.Β Β

The pressure rates are still there, Herbert had to move ALL. Damn. Game.Β  Β  Β

Walker and Harrison are glarring issues though.Β  Β Harrison as a split field safety is something I attack every time.

we blew it on 4th down d.....shit....we had a 2 td lead and they went for it on their own 24 and made it and then sliced up the browns right down the field....turning point of the game right there.....

    Brainfart andA couple of thoughts.Β

    1. That DPI on 4th down is atrocious. Not only BOTH players are handfighting, but whhen the ball reaches them the RECEIVER IS BLATANTLY HOLDING THE CORNERBACK.Β

    You have 4 options:

    A. Don't penalize any action. Browns get the ball.

    B. Throw a flag and call both PIs, and offset them. Browns get the ball.Β

    C. Call the OPI. Browns get the ball.

    D. Brainfart and call DPI. Chargers keep the drive alive and ultimately score.Β

    2. We had like 10 injuries before and during the game? Newsome, Ward, Willis, Clowney, Conclin, Takkaris and Myles are hurt... It's hard to keep playing if half the starters get injured. We need a bye now.Β

    3. I don't understand the playcalling when the game is on the line: last week Stef called passes when Baker was playing awful and this day, we only had to get A FEW FIRST DOWNS to get the game, and instead of playing 4 downs, etc, offense gets a 3 and out and puts the game in the hands of a depleted offense.Β

what the fuck kind of playcalling was that at the end of the game...fucking chargers made the biggest boneheaded decisionΒ  giving us a shot at the end...and what the fuck....unreal.....but yeah depending on how bad these injuries are, this season could fall apart real soon...good ole cleveland bad luck...

i havnt scene the inactives for the game does clowney play today ?

we are in deep deep shit with all these injuries.....yikes......depending on how bad they are.....we don't have any tackles....i have a feeling wills is mostlly shot for this season....he gave it his best though....don't know about our rt....was it conklin...he never returned..ward never returned...wow..2 ...its really bad to waste a great performance by our rb's.... beckham sucks....overall he has not done shit since we signed him....injuries are part of the game so that is no excuse.....he's the guy i thought that would be the playmakerΒ  that he was when he was with ny......not even close..... our 4th down d really blows...we were last in the league last yr...and it is even worse now...thought there was a badΒ  callΒ  against us on one of those 4th downs....turning point. was we had them down 2 td's and they went for it on their own 24 and made it...and scored on that drive....

i don't think baker is going to be the guy going forward,Β  if he was berry would have signed him already.Β  so what should we do?

    1. baker is not worth 40 mil a year.. berry knows it.

    2. this QB draft class sucks not really anyone of note. Maybe they draft a developmental QB?

    3. free agents pretty much all older guys and retreds..... except for Mitch Trubisky.Β

    Β

that is my vote let baker play his 5th year while grooming trubisky as a backup plan if things dont go well as well as drafting a Developmental QB in next years draft.

the only change at qb that i would want would be watson....and dat ain't gonna happen....i'd take him over mayfield any day of the week.....somehow i envision watsonΒ  and obj on the same page....don't know why but its a hunch....anything is better right now at this point.....boy, i would love to see something good with mayfield and obj...every week i wake up thinking...ok this is the game they finally look good....and it never happens...its like fucking groundhog day....

Articulate how this is a stupid ass thread. I can go through each game with and without OBJ, and there is a drastic difference in Baker's performance. I mean if you can explain the night and day difference of Baker, be my guest.

pay no attention to that man behind the curtain....he's a fucking moron.....and he should be deleted from this board....

Baker was bad.Β  He made some bad decisions. - 1st drive of nd half, Felton standing there, wide open, beyond the sticks, Baker plainly sees him but tries to run instead, so we punt.Β  He had a bunch of open targets that he just plain airmailed over their heads.Β  Thank God the defense saved the day (and Chubb & Hunt).

me thinks baker thought he was lamar on that play......sorry baker you cannot run like lamar...get that thought out of your head....

No doubt it wasn't a good effort, but we won.

the d was magnificant......its about time....correct me if i am wrong, but i thought i heard cousings was the number one ranked qb going into the game....so the d did great...as far as the offense..........the sucked....again....don't care what excuses are out there, obj and baker just never hit it off since day one...don't want to hear this shit about injuries...the pandemic...laci of practice together becauseΒ there are teams out there with new recieversΒ  on their respective teams and they are doing well....it just did not happen....we still need that wr with explosiveness......we don't have one......can't rely on our rb's all the time.....as far as baker goes...he better own up this weekend vs. the lightning bolts....and then the cards.....hmmmmmmmm....i don't know.....

i put this on harrison and stepanksi.....its a discipline issue.....you got to do what that james gand song says.......walk away.......

The half miracle half skill bomb to Tyreek.

Browns in their dime look 2 high shift.

    Β

    Β

    -------------------------------------Β  Β The "shift"

boundary safety inverts in a cover 6 to take away Kelce.Β  Β I'm sure, without having read the posts, there are several well known whiny bitches about Woods on this board who complained.Β  Well this is an adjustment that worked.Β  Β The invert takes away Mahomes primary.Β  Which is kelce on the out from the #2.Β  KC LOVES running out breaking patterns with him to the boundary and they scored on one earlier.Β  This was Wood's adjustment/answer to that.Β

You'll notice coverage being "married" (as Romo says) to the pass rush.Β  Instead of Mahomes being able to stand and deliver or at worst find his #2, he is now forced to escape and buy whatever time he can with his legs.

    1662862892_Cover6invertedboundarysafety.thumb.jpg.9e4b3b93c4758fe8bea8272996d8fba7.jpg

    Β

    ----------------------------------

This is Mahomes, running for dear life and using every bit of his god-given arm strength to Brett Farve this ball downfield and inside.Β  Β Keep in mind, the offensive holding call on Tyreek earlier.Β  It was almost the exact same play design except Mahomes flushed back further behind the line.Β  Β It's almost like he hasn't met a threw he doesn't like.Β  Β But I guess when you're that talented you can get away with it on occasion.Β  The first one was almost picked, so please don't forget that.Β Β

    Β

    ---------------------Β  Β The bomb

Mahomes has ZERO choice but to put this back towards interior of the field.Β  Why? Because Johnny J beat Tyreek to the outside and with the "flow" of the escaping QB.Β  Β Football 101, NEVER Throw back across to the interior of the field.Β  Β Where there are execptions to every rule and Mahomes just so happens to be that exception.Β  If this is Big Ben it's a throw away, if it's Lamar it's a throw away, if it's Joey Buckets it's a throw away.Β  Mahomes might be the only QB in the NFL capable enough of making this throw but having a couple receivers who can actually adjust.Β Β

When you're facing any "normal" QB, Johnny J played it right 99.9% of the time.Β  And if it's put outside as most QB's would attempt, then he gets a pick in his first career game in CLE.

But it wasn't, because he had the misfortune of going against probably the most lethal QB/WR combo in the NFL.Β  Β  It's a fluky, lucky, incredibly stupid yet amazingly talented play.Β  Β So as I said earlier, you really just have to shake your head.Β  Because you SHOULDN'T see this sort of thing and outside of these two, you really don't at any level.Β

JJ3 didn't get "toasted", "torched", "burned" or whatever stupid fucking adjective you'd like to toss out there.Β  He put himself in great position and Tyreek just made an all-pro play. You win some, like we did earlier forcing the near INT - and you lose some.... like this.Β  Β Nothing more, nothing less.

    Β

    Catch.thumb.jpg.29b2a9f18b7b629f943282879de4d276.jpg

    Β

    Β

Now, has anyone besides myself put in the work to further understand the nuances to what we saw with the coverage, pass rush and alignments we saw on defense?Β  Β  Or are you still firing from the hip and pretending to know what you're talking about?

    Β

    Β

that ball should never have been caught...go ask our db what he thought of it......our db looked like an idiot out there...that ball should have never been caught....sltop making fucking excuses....

The Texans score 10 times more points than most people predicted. Get ready for a battle supreme.Β

The real problem is that the Chiefs' playmaker made a huge play and nobody on our team did when we needed it. They got a 75 yard touchdown on some real bullshit. We didn't have that. OBJ is the only guy we have that can take normal and go the distance. Nobody saved the day for us.Β

And I'm not sure Jamie Gillian is long for our roster. That mistake was so totally egregious, it might bounce him. And I'm not kidding.Β

ifΒ  baker throws passes like trevor did yesterday, i think baker will get cut.....trever game them alot of pts with those ints...i can't see baker throwing ints like that against the texans....i'm just glad watson hopefully won't be playing or else it would be a mighty close game....because we still have not solved the scrambling qb issues after watching the game yesterday...

I have no issue with Chubb getting multiple carries and getting his runners rhythm.Β  I want their defense to key in on my running game to open lanes for the passing.Β  That's why I said this game would likely be called a bit in reverse to open things up.Β  Browns went heavy play action early and started running the ball effectively in the 2nd half.

It was like watching some Bill Walsh WYCO teams - open by throwing and run on a tired defense late.Β  Β I have zero issue there.

As for the throw to Hill on Johnny J. I'll have a more clear answer for you Thursday after the All-22 is out.Β  Β Best educated guess right now, he got turned over to the safety in zone pass off, then JJ took him on the scramble.Β

    Β

edit: To answer your question about schwartz.Β  His first catch on that boundary to field over route which was good use of his speed.

right before the fumble, i think he had 2 really nice runs....i think play action would have worked after those runs...but, who knows...i

I have said from the start.. I think Joe Woods blows,,,

yeah, i have to agree with you at this point.....harrison getting thrown out did not help yesterday....but that is the coach woods responsiblity when it comes to stuff like that...what bothered me most is they did not have any game plan for pm....they should know that he steps up in the pocket alot when he makes his throws or scrambles....aside from garretts sack in the fourth qtr, it seemed we just kept over running the pass rush right by him....cmon guys watch the game film...someone needs to be in front of him at all times to at least try to contain him.....that is on woods also......
