1. That DPI on 4th down is atrocious. Not only BOTH players are handfighting, but whhen the ball reaches them the RECEIVER IS BLATANTLY HOLDING THE CORNERBACK. 

You have 4 options:

A. Don't penalize any action. Browns get the ball.

B. Throw a flag and call both PIs, and offset them. Browns get the ball. 

C. Call the OPI. Browns get the ball.

D. Brainfart and call DPI. Chargers keep the drive alive and ultimately score. 

2. We had like 10 injuries before and during the game? Newsome, Ward, Willis, Clowney, Conclin, Takkaris and Myles are hurt... It's hard to keep playing if half the starters get injured. We need a bye now.

I don't understand the playcalling when the game is on the line: last week Stef called passes when Baker was playing awful and this day, we only had to get A FEW FIRST DOWNS to get the game, and instead of playing 4 downs, etc, offense gets a 3 and out and puts the game in the hands of a depleted offense. 

what the fuck kind of playcalling was that at the end of the game...fucking chargers made the biggest boneheaded decision  giving us a shot at the end...and what the fuck....unreal.....but yeah depending on how bad these injuries are, this season could fall apart real soon...good ole cleveland bad luck...

boundary safety inverts in a cover 6 to take away Kelce.   I'm sure, without having read the posts, there are several well known whiny bitches about Woods on this board who complained.  Well this is an adjustment that worked.   The invert takes away Mahomes primary.  Which is kelce on the out from the #2.  KC LOVES running out breaking patterns with him to the boundary and they scored on one earlier.  This was Wood's adjustment/answer to that. 

You'll notice coverage being "married" (as Romo says) to the pass rush.  Instead of Mahomes being able to stand and deliver or at worst find his #2, he is now forced to escape and buy whatever time he can with his legs.

This is Mahomes, running for dear life and using every bit of his god-given arm strength to Brett Farve this ball downfield and inside.   Keep in mind, the offensive holding call on Tyreek earlier.  It was almost the exact same play design except Mahomes flushed back further behind the line.   It's almost like he hasn't met a threw he doesn't like.   But I guess when you're that talented you can get away with it on occasion.  The first one was almost picked, so please don't forget that.

Mahomes has ZERO choice but to put this back towards interior of the field.  Why? Because Johnny J beat Tyreek to the outside and with the "flow" of the escaping QB.   Football 101, NEVER Throw back across to the interior of the field.   Where there are execptions to every rule and Mahomes just so happens to be that exception.  If this is Big Ben it's a throw away, if it's Lamar it's a throw away, if it's Joey Buckets it's a throw away.  Mahomes might be the only QB in the NFL capable enough of making this throw but having a couple receivers who can actually adjust.  

When you're facing any "normal" QB, Johnny J played it right 99.9% of the time.  And if it's put outside as most QB's would attempt, then he gets a pick in his first career game in CLE.

But it wasn't, because he had the misfortune of going against probably the most lethal QB/WR combo in the NFL.    It's a fluky, lucky, incredibly stupid yet amazingly talented play.   So as I said earlier, you really just have to shake your head.  Because you SHOULDN'T see this sort of thing and outside of these two, you really don't at any level. 

JJ3 didn't get "toasted", "torched", "burned" or whatever stupid fucking adjective you'd like to toss out there.  He put himself in great position and Tyreek just made an all-pro play. You win some, like we did earlier forcing the near INT - and you lose some.... like this.   Nothing more, nothing less.

 

 

 

Now, has anyone besides myself put in the work to further understand the nuances to what we saw with the coverage, pass rush and alignments we saw on defense?    Or are you still firing from the hip and pretending to know what you're talking about?

The real problem is that the Chiefs' playmaker made a huge play and nobody on our team did when we needed it. They got a 75 yard touchdown on some real bullshit. We didn't have that. OBJ is the only guy we have that can take normal and go the distance. Nobody saved the day for us. 

And I'm not sure Jamie Gillian is long for our roster. That mistake was so totally egregious, it might bounce him. And I'm not kidding. 

if  baker throws passes like trevor did yesterday, i think baker will get cut.....trever game them alot of pts with those ints...i can't see baker throwing ints like that against the texans....i'm just glad watson hopefully won't be playing or else it would be a mighty close game....because we still have not solved the scrambling qb issues after watching the game yesterday...

It was like watching some Bill Walsh WYCO teams - open by throwing and run on a tired defense late.   I have zero issue there.

As for the throw to Hill on Johnny J. I'll have a more clear answer for you Thursday after the All-22 is out.   Best educated guess right now, he got turned over to the safety in zone pass off, then JJ took him on the scramble. 

 

edit: To answer your question about schwartz.  His first catch on that boundary to field over route which was good use of his speed.

right before the fumble, i think he had 2 really nice runs....i think play action would have worked after those runs...but, who knows...i

yeah, i have to agree with you at this point.....harrison getting thrown out did not help yesterday....but that is the coach woods responsiblity when it comes to stuff like that...what bothered me most is they did not have any game plan for pm....they should know that he steps up in the pocket alot when he makes his throws or scrambles....aside from garretts sack in the fourth qtr, it seemed we just kept over running the pass rush right by him....cmon guys watch the game film...someone needs to be in front of him at all times to at least try to contain him.....that is on woods also......
