Some observations.... Baker had an unbelievably shitty game. No way to sugar coat it. Stefanski preaches ball security- and Mayfield not only fumbled THREE times, (leading to Jets points) his accuracy sucked. Overthrows, underthrows. Plenty of blame to go around when your targets drop balls that hit them in the hands. Jets knew Hooper was going to factor in huge, and Baker tried to force the ball into him- when he was triple covered. Lucky there weren't interceptions. The book on Baker is pressure him- and he'll make mistakes. Mission accomplished. Blame the sieve O-line in the first half  if you must.

Our great running game? - take away two starting o-line, and all of a sudden, it's not so great.

Defensive backfield? Ward can't do it all by himself. A couple breakdowns that had Browns defenders in the wrong area code on guys that were wide open. BTW, I'm not sure who was even playing linebacker for the Browns at least 50% of the time. :(

our d sucks....we don't seem to get any turnovers...we got some the first half of the season, but that has changed...if you cannot intercept sam darnold, just think what big ben is going to do next week....i can't blame baker....he should not have had to throw 53 times....you ain't going to win many games doing that....our run game got stuffed and we fell behind...and when that happens, you end up throwing the ball alot...as far as the fumbles by baker...yeah, i think that is where we lost the game...its the turnovers that kill ya....and baker coughed up the game....poor browns....what looked like a shoe in is now probably going to be a just a dream.....

Basically we are in with a browns win. Or we are in with a colts loss. Or we are in with titans losing to packers this week and losing next week.

colts are not going to llose to jax....i ruled that game out of the combo picture...jax is really bad....titans play the texans last game...i think texans could put up a fight on that one but they won't win...deshawn cannot do it himself.....their d stinks....so it comes down to cle vs. pitt.......tomlin vs steph.....tomlin wins that one....ben vs mayfield...big edge to ben....looks like he is back....it don't look good.....fucking covid defeats the browns is what it will amount to...

even with the lose today since indy lost we  beat pit next week we are in well pretty sure we are

we are if we beat pit....i don't know if there are any other combos.....indy plays jax....so forget about about that one...right now we dropped from the 5 slot to 7....so it looks like if we lose to pit all the other teams will remain the same if they also lose..balt plays cincy....balt wins easily....indy smashes the jags....miami will probably lose to buf....it appears if we lose we are out....and the bad news is pit looks like they got their mojo back.....if pit has something to play for, we lose...kc has home field throughout and there is only 1 bye team...my guess is they will be playing for a home game......with piped in noise....thats funny...

Without his 4 starting WR's... You couldn't wait to get back on the bash Baker train couldn't you!

you just cannot fumble the ball away like he did.....that's 2 times at least this yr that he has done that....you hardly see that happen.....thought he did good as far as not having his wr's...but he lost the game on that fumble.....

oh but we were last week ? u do fucking realize how many players we had out today

yeah but the play calling on that last drive was terri ble.it looked like the run game picked up a bit and hunt was knocking people over....ahould have just run the ball...but noooooo....we try a fucking pass to a player who could not get open....just fucking dumb...i'd rather would have had hunt run the ball and not baker qb sneak....he cannot hold on to the ball....look, we are not going to beat the steelers even with all our players back.......it was a good yr i guress.....we will probably end up 10-6 and not make the playoffs again....second time we will be 10-6 and not make the playoffs....typical cleveland browns.....flores will probably get coach of the yr and he would get my vote without a doubt....

we ain't going to be ok....jets have been playing their best ball the last couple weeks.....we are fucked......unreal....don't forget that not only are all those wr's out...our ol si banged up which means the jets will play the run and poor ole baker will have no one to throw to....and the jets always play us tough anyway....just plain ole bad luck as usual...

Yes.   As you may know, both KR and  Ravenna were in the same conference as Norton where I went.   I had a bit of an older friend who played either DL or LB  for Norton at the time Nottingham played for Ravenna...and also  when Larry Csonka played for Stow.   He said that Csonka was a cream puff compared to Nottingham to try to tackle.

my wife just told me all the browns wr's are out for the jets game due to covid....i don't have an iphone....is she looking at the right info....higgins...landry...jones....wtf...we are done if so.............jets will clobber the browns due to covid....what a strange season it has been....someone let me know what the fuck is going on..please..

Why the hell did you reply to what I wrote with this?

    Are you on drugs?

no but you are a fucking asshole if there ever was one....fuckass moron...you know as much aboiut football as a fucking turd does...dickhead..

Just watching a bit of Colin Cowherd.   Aside from being completely arrogant,  he is at times completely ignorant.

First,  it is his claim that  Baker is a much better QB now that  OBJ has been out.  While the numbers bear that out, it is a fact that  Baker is probably a better QB now not because he is not playing with OBJ, but because he had now become completely familiarized with the Kevin Stefanski system he is playing in.   Cowherd says that last year Baker was not playing so well because the Browns brought in OBJ....not giving one mention of the fact that he was playing with his 3rd HC and OC,  and that  the HC last year was the terrible Freddie Kitchens.    No, according to him, it was ALL about Baker trying to force the Ball to OBJ last year and the beginning of this year.   So, I am sorry, Cowherd is completely ignorant of the real factors involved in Baker's improvement this year.

Next...he came down hard on Justin Field, talking about how "poor" of a game he had because he was only like 12 of 27 against Northwestern.  Clearly the dickhead didn't bother to watch a bit of the game, as he must have failed to see the pictures of Fields  flexing his thumb, and having it treated during the course of the game.  It was obvious something was wrong that hampered his game, and it was confirmed that he had a sprained thumb on his throwing hand.  Not one word about that fact from Cowherd though.

Like I said,   arrogant in his ignorance, and apparently completely proud thereof.

agreed...however i could care less if we have obj on the roster next season...he is still a me me me type of player and he has not been on the same page with baker since he's been here....we can win a sb without obj without a doubt only if we improve the d next season.....

We're all familiar with Higgins' history here.  He went from being a favorite target of Baker, to Freddie's dog house, to actually off the team this past offseason.  Finally Berry got him back with the team and he barely made the final roster cuts.

He was not a Stefanski guy.  And it seemed quite obvious that Stef favored Hodge...but he and VanPelt always spoke highly of him, but he just could not get on the field.  It was always Hodge.

So, Hodge and his air guitar got injured and Higgins had to play.  Higgins is now tied for 2nd on the team with 35 receptions (tied w/ Hooper) and 2nd on the team in receiving yards (544).

Although it was rumored a couple of weeks ago that the Browns were working with Higgins on a new deal, his agent said, Ain't nobody from the Browns talked to me.

I would love to sit with Stef at the bar with a beer and some bar nuts and have him explain what he really thinks regarding and Higgins & Hodge.

    35 544 15.5 43 4
    9 155 17.2 42 0

i think there is room for both.....i would like to see that....i'd give higgins the edge overall based on the stats but hodge has been injured....thought i saw him on the field against the gints the last game...

The Browns are 9-4 so far.   This could shape up to be one of their best seasons since the beginning of Super Bowls in 1966.  Here are their best records since that time:

1969   10-3-1      The win pct. in all games was .714.....(won 10 of 14)  but if you factor out the tie,  the 10 wins/3 losses made them  .769

    1986   12-4     Win pct. of   .750

    1968   10-4   win pct.  of .714

    1972   10-4    win pct. of .714

    1980   11-5  win pct.  of .688

    1994   11-5  win pct. of  .688

1987   10-5  win pct. of  .666     (strike shortened year by 1 game)

    1988   10-6  win pct. of .625

2007   10-6  win pct. of  .625.   This is the ONLY year of those listed above in which they did not make the playoffs.

(and just a note,  the two years just prior to 1966 SB beginning, they had records as good or better than any since:

    1965  11-3  or .785

    1964  10-3-1...same as 1969...except they won 1964 title.

Prior to 1964 they had 10-12 years with records better than any since.   -0 losses once,  1 loss 4 times;  2 losses 4 times,  3 losses 3 times.

It would be nice to go 12-4 and match our best record in 55 years.

we have a good chance....lets see what happens the last 3 games....in my opinion, it will depend on the d....the d will dictate if this will be one of the better seasons or not...so far butch davis' 9-7 team did the best...they made the only playoff appearance since the comeback...cannot argue that...can we better that...hopefully so...

The missed tackle didn’t aggravate me.  It was the sloppy effort on the play where Dobbins had like 10-12 yard gain where Mack kinda gave it a HS try and put out a weak tackle attempt.

Mack Wilson has been all bark no bite...doesn’t have consistent effort play to play

yeah, i disappointed in wilson....thought he would be better....

i knew when there backup made that 3rd and 10 it was over.....that is why the browns better watch out for daniel jones this week....he could slice and dice this defense up like a butcher.....there game plan should be pass pass pass....

oh and by the way, my high school team could probably drive 80 yds in three plays like most teams do against this pos defense....

I'm really struggling with our defense. I want to be realistic because we're so injured, but who isn't? Ward always misses big games every year. We don't have a single linebacker who will play next year except possibly Taki on run downs. Everyone else is toast. And you know what? I can't think of any excuse good enough for giving up that 3rd and 10 to the backup. That WAS the game.

Let me ask you something else. When is the last time our defense actually stopped someone to win a game? Don't say Jacksonville. They gave up yet another TD to Mike Glennon. MIKE GLENNON. Look at Dallas and Tennessee games. The only reason we won is because of our offense. If we can play keep away, we can win. If we're expecting our defense to win the game, good luck with that. We give up more game tying or game losing drives in the 4th quarter than anyone I can remember. The Bengals game? How about BOTH of them.

Let's focus on last night. Look at before the half...our offense shits the bed and needs help. Just hold them to 3 we said (a punt was obviously not going to happen). Nope. They score a TD on the worst defense in recorded history. How about the last part of the 4th quarter? Nope. They gave up how many drives in the final minutes? Jesus man, someone make a play. The offense can't bail you out EVERY time.

I'm proud of our offense, our coach, and our QB. But I don't think anyone on our defense can look in the mirror this morning. Ravens haven't scored this many points since the LAST time they beat us. Have some damn pride defense.

OK...I'm feeling better. Thanks for the vent!

Go Brownies! Stay mad, stay angry, and beat the shit out of the Giants.

i knew when there backup made that 3rd and 10 it was over.....that is why the browns better watch out for daniel jones this week....he could slice and dice this defense up like a butcher.....there game plan should be pass pass pass....

I am not sure how that is responsive to what I wrote.  Yes, we need defense, and I am saying there were some veteran leaders on defense that have been out there walking the street that we could have had at our positions of most dire need.  I am specifically talking Clay Mathews and Earl Thomas.  Yes, aging stars.....but veteran leaders who could have been far superior to some of the detritus we have had at their positions.

yes it does apply to what you wrote...you said the fo could have done a better job with trying to get some fa's on d...i just built it up a little as to what you were saying...i totally agree as to what you said about the fo....

You know what I especially loved, guys? How we fought BACK. There were a couple times where we could have folded and packed it in, but we never did. How about the 4th down TD to Higgins? That was some big nuts type of shit.

yep.....there were those close games like the one where peoples hosed up the ko return and we had the ball inside our own five yd line....in past yrs, we would have lost that game.....not this yr....there were other games where it came down to a play or two where we would have lost and we won those close games.....we are on the up and up...but we better fix this shitty d before we waste a good thing....hope we don't end up like the don coryell chargers where they had an unstoppable offense with fouts and company but went no where because their d was so bad....we don't want that template....

  18. 48 minutes ago, The Gipper said:

Yes,  all true,   nevertheless,  as far as I am concerned there could have been a few simple moves this FO could have made to have improved this defense.   Yes, that would have meant bringing in some veterans and paying them something. (especially when the injuries began mounting up).     But when you do have a playoff contender,  even one that could go somewhere in the playoffs like we could maybe, I think you do whatever you should to see the team to its fruition to do the best by them and the fans as you can.

gip......we neee defense....defense....defense.....defense wins games....you need offense also....but defense wins games....and i agree, the fo coulp have done something about it....no doubt.....and don't count you r chickens just yet.....the gints game will not be a pushover game for us....why.....we have no defense and jones can pick us apart...and guess what,,,,,the gints are playing great d.....scares the shit out of me...game we should win but..........

Can't agree with you more. How many of us marked up this game as a guaranteed L as soon as the schedule was released?

We've been growing all season... building capital from our wins, learning from our losses.

    I am feeling great.

i totaly agree....but it would be nice to make the playoffs and most likely lose there....at least we can get the playoff experience thing out of the way.....man that would be great...but with this d that we have, i am not with all these analysts saying the browns are a shoe in for the playoffs....this d makes me sick to my stomach and can lose it  for what has been a great offensive improvement.....don't think for one moment that daniel jones can't beat the browns because he can....scary game comin up this sunday night...

  20. 8 hours ago, jbluhm86 said:

Woods isn't the problem. We just don't have the personnel on the defense to make a deep run in the playoffs. The defense just doesn't have enough gas in the talent tank to be able to play a full 60 minutes against great teams.

who says we are going to the playoffs......my guess is we are going to be in that shitass sitiation where we need help from other teams....our d really sucks the big one...i could see daniel jones running amuk for the giants against us.....its like we need 8 minute drives the whole game to keep the other teams offense off the field....even the crappy teams....
