  1. There were a lot of really good players on the 1985-1989 Browns, but the only player who I think has a chance for the HOF is Matthews, and that seems somewhat in the air.
  2. So you are politically correct then?
  3. If Jesus suffered from low self-esteem and didn't believe in himself, would he be committing blasphemy?
  4. Did you ever see the film 'Spotlight' with Michael Keaton? Fascinating movie on the Catholic Church in Boston and their coverup of pedophiles in their midst.
  5. The funny thing about nickers is how testy he is about this situation (YOU DON'T KNOW THE ENTIRE STORY!) while you know if there's even a hint that OBJ is late returning a library book he'll be all over his ass... 😝
  6. This atheist who avoids the wasteland of the political forum like the plague is smart enough not to extorted into believing in the imaginary mob boss in the sky. I'm Italian, I'm versed in the whole "protection" racket already. And I don't believe there's any mention of Purgatory in the Old or New Testament. I always was under the impression that Purgatory was a Catholic invention to try and squeeze more money out of their flock by hinting that giving more money to them might persuade Jesus's dad into moving them from Purgatory to Heaven. This is a strangely interesting conversation, by the way. Not Browns-related at all, but still interesting. Nothing wrong with that.
  7. Unintentionally Flugs this is one of the funniest things I've read on here! 🤣
  8. While we are talking about fiction books, how many times is hell mentioned in the Lord of the Rings, The Godfather and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? 😝
  9. I remember taking the first drink and instantly thinking: "ohhhhhhhhhhh nooooooooooooooooooo"....
  10. Visited Cincinnati for the first time last summer, thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Caught two Indians/Reds games while there. Stopped in an Irish bar to have a drink on the way back to the hotel after both games (O'Malley's in the Alley) and had a Rheingheist Truth the second night, because when in Rome.... Grossest beer I've ever had. I can drink some Summer Shandy, Blue Moon, etc, but Truth was disgusting. Fucking grapefruit. Ugh. And Skyline tastes like someone tried to make chili, had a stroke, and then thought they were trying to make a pumpkin pie. Seriously, what the fuck is that shit?
  11. A gentle breeze puts most people's religious beliefs on the back burner.
  12. There's not a chance in hell he did anything wrong. Don't you guys remember he was just baptized back in May with Dorsey and Freddie? Jesus is Hunt's homeboy.
  13. I know defenses were different back in the day but didn't Bill Willis play MLB? (or the version of it back in the 40s and 50s?) Edit: Willis was a middle guard, which was another name for nose tackle. When defenses went from a 5-2 front to 4-3, the middle guard moved off the line and became the middle linebacker. So I'd go with Mike Johnson being the best MLB besides Costello.
  14. Now that I think of it, and watched a video to confirm it, it was Galen Fiss who made that open-field tackle on Moore, not Vince Costello. And it was defensive back Bernie Parrish who came up with the game plan vs the Colts, not Fiss. https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2014/12/cleveland_browns_1964_champion_14.html
  15. Costello made what many consider to be "the play" of the '64 Championship, when he made a perfect tackle of HOF RB Lenny Moore on a screen pass when there still was no score in the game. If Costello didn't make that great open-field tackle, Moore might have taken that screen pass all the way to the endzone. Costello did make the tackle, and the rest was history. As much that has been written about the Jets huge upset of the Colts in Super Bowl III, the Browns were huge underdogs in '64 too.
  16. Most people not named calfox are not aware that a report button exists, actually.
  17. Landry is the equivalent of a firstbaseman with little power. He might play solid defense, hit for a decent average, be a good clubhouse guy, but eventually the team will look for a Frank Thomas to play first. I don't think it's given he's gone, not at all, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least either.
  18. He's a possession receiver making a ton of money on a team that finally has young talent, young talent that will need to paid big money to remain on the Browns. Wouldn't shock me at all if this is Landry's last season with the Browns.
  19. I've seen people bitch and moan about those two (and others who dare report how shitty this organization has been) during 2-14 seasons. I want specific instances of the "sad" negative crap they have written regarding these new and positive Browns that was completely baseless and unwarranted Mike. Because I've seen Grossi on STO's RedZone for years, and as much as some of you complain about him, he is almost giddy talking about the Browns when they actually win or make smart organizational moves - for someone so many people think loves to shit on the Browns just to shit on the Browns. Hoorta has mentioned this multiple times too.
  20. Cowherd is a hack who only thrives because people like so many on this board get all riled up over his laughably obvious attempts to piss them off. Regarding the local press, how exactly should have this franchise been covered over the last two decades? They have had TWO winning seasons since coming back in 1999, one playoff appearance (an epic choke job to your biggest rival) and have lost roughly 2/3rds of their games. Reporting on this franchise in a positive light over all these years would have been ridiculously negligent to their readers. The Browns deserved all the negative press they got. You want someone to shove sunshine up your butt while the Browns flailed along helplessly? Watch Nathan Zegura. Hopefully that era of futility is over, and the local media can report on the positive future.
  21. Does this assigned job come with a job title? 401k? Stock options?
  22. I hope to get two Pro-Bowl caliber seasons out of OBJ, before he pulls the stunts that got him run from the Giants. It's going to be interesting to see all those on here who are so behind him now when it inevitably goes bad later. So I'll take two really good seasons from him... anything beyond that is gravy.
  23. Warriors are fortunate that the Cavs ran out of gas with about 7 healthy players in 2015, the same way the Cubs are lucky that the Indians ran out of gas in the 2016 World Series with roughly 2 healthy starting pitchers.
  24. I like Joe Thomas as much as the next guy, but the dude has a lot of bad takes.
  25. I'd like to see Duke get traded, since he's pretty much wasted on this team and we don't need the distraction.
